  1. I got to go on my first trip today with my new CS. Last night I put in a small trip and then took it out to see if it would beep as I got to turns. Everything worked fine so I created a route for today's trip from my place to a place in Milwaukee. I had to actually start my trip from a different point than the original so when I got on the main road to Milwaukee I then turned on my GPS and activated the route. It really acted weird. Everytime I would come to an overpass the GPS would tell me to turn around, yep take the exit and then take two lefts which would put me back on the interstate going the wrong direction. At one overpass it showed me actually coming up to the interstate and I was to turn left to go the right direction? So what did I do wrong? I finally had to tell it to stop navigating because the missed turn beeping was continous and I could not stop it. murph
  2. It obviously isn't worth it to you!!! But I guess after having one in my hand now for two days it sure is worth it to me. I use mine for more than just caching. murph
  3. The windshield suction has been the best for me. murph
  4. I wrote to Dan Foster the originator if ExpertGPS and he is doing a major update on ExpertGPS. Unfortunately it will be a while before we see it. I would say mid summer. So I guess you will just have to hang in there or change the icons after you upload them. I did take my *.loc file and have easymps open it and then exported to the waypoints manager that came with the CS unit and the icons are there and ok. murph
  5. I have had my CS on with the compass on starting around 10:00am yesterday and left it run until 10:00pm last night and I still have 50% of the batteries yet. I also did a bunch of adding maps from City Select, adding and deleting waypoints. So I was woking it a bunch. I know my Vista would not have lasted as long. murph
  6. I got mine tuesday morning. Love it so far. Can't keep my mind on work. It is great for those of you in waiting. murph
  7. Got mine yesterday morning and did a lot of playing with it last night. I got auto-routing figured out and I think I am really going to love it over my Vista. But I do have a lot of learning to do with it and I do have to get a cable so I can use ExpertGPS with it. Have lots of stuff to transfer to it. I did put a bunch of maps on it from City Select and now I have to figure out how to take them off of my GPS. Will do that when I get back from my trip. murph
  8. If I click on each turn as I do my auto-routing in city select, then them places will beep as I drive. Otherwise it doesn't beep but does show on the map. murph
  9. I found that I can search by address at both ends. Then click on the beginning waypoint created on the map and the end waypoint created on the map. Then auto-routing kicks in at that point. I have now created three routes. However, I did notice that when I do the auto-routing my GPS will not beep as I come up to the turns? Is this because I did not let my GPS do the auto routing? Also how do I check me memory percentage on the 60CS. I could find it in my Vista real easy but can't find it on the CS. Can't find it in the manual either. murph Actually I am really having fun here. I think this unit is a good one and I just have to play with it.
  10. Hi murph. It sounds like you may have "direct route" selected in Mapsource rather than "auto-route". You can find it in preferences under the "routing tab". Cheers, Olar Yes, I did click direct route because it was taking me places I knew where way out of the way. I can change it back. So if I take and click on a start point and a end point it will automatically route for me? Also I notice on my trial run and then went out with my GPS it seams my GPS only beeped on the points I put in. So if there was a turn it did not beap me. murph
  11. I guess I am kind of lost?? How do I know if I have installed the City Select or sent any maps to my GPSMap60CS?? Do I look at software version? murph
  12. I might be missing something here but someone can help me it would be appreciated. It was my understanding the you could put in a start point and a end point and City Select would pick the best roads. You could view and edit it and then upload it to your GPS? What I see is you have to find the start point on the map and then click the roads yourself to get to the end point? I thought the whole thing was to help you find the best route to a address. Am I not doing it right or what? I looked in the help section and I see not way of it automatically finding the roads for you. murph
  13. I read on another post that the USB port was kinda tight on the 60C/CS. I think somebody here may have broke one or it came loose or something. Mine is very tight. So I should be good.
  14. I just did it from ExpertGPS to Easymap then to my waypoint manager that came with my CS. Everything looks fine. I had to do this because I don't have the proper cabling. murph
  15. Hold on a second, be fair to TigerGPS. I ordered one from them back in December and all they told me is that I was in the first 10 and I would probably get one in the first shipment. A retailer can't control how many units the factory can get out the door. I have found them to be up front. I don't think the author was dumping on TigerGPS. I personally believe he was just making a statement that is all. There is suppliers out there that have them. I just checked In Stock I would also check with GPSdiscount by calling them not looking at their web page. Or send them an email. This is only if you are in a rush like I was. I had mine on order with GPSdiscount and yes they did back up the order some from what they promised but I do have it now and it seems I am one of the first ones to have one because of overnighting it. Tommorrow a bunch more will have it. murph
  16. I guess if you push the plug in all the way on your GPS things work a lot better. As soon as I pushed it in further XP found the hardware loaded it and then everything worked. There was even an option for serial or usb port then. So call me blonde but this new GPS has me somewhat excited. murph
  17. I saved all of my waypoints and tracks in ExpertGPS. This is a loc file. I took the loc file and converted it using EasyMPS and I see all of the waypoints now in Mapsource which is the program that came with my new GPS. But when sending them from the Mapsource to my GPS it doesn't recognise my GPS because it is looking for a serial port?? I thought I could manage waypoints with the Mapsource product that came with my GPS. What am I doing wrong? murph
  18. I got mine It is here in my hands. WoW, a lot different than my Vista. Will have to do some reading and playing around tonight. Hope I can get all of my Waypoints transferred over from ExpertGPS. murph
  19. I don't know when the second shipment will go, but I do know that there is a couple of other suppliers that have them. I was told by GPSdiscount that they got a lot of extras. Now if they still have them or not I don't know. But if you do a search there is others out there that say they have them. You may want to check around and cancel if your in a rush. If not it may be a week or so. murph
  20. Just did a track on my package from Fed-Ex. Fed-Ex says it will be here by 10:00am today. I will have it for my trip Wednesday. The next 5 hours will go slow I am sure. Have to load City Select on it and then do my first auto-route. Never done that so I hope it goes well. murph
  21. Everybody is getting emails from GPSdiscount but me. I couldn't take it anymore, calle them adn gave them my tracking number and they said it will go today and said they have time to change it to overnight. I should have it tuesday morning then. Great leaving on a trip Wednesday. But the email confuses me as to why I didn't get one. murph
  22. Go here and scroll down to GPSMap 60C http://www.garmin.com/support/download.jsp you will find it there. murph
  23. Check this link, they say they have them in stock. http://gpsworldsupply.com/gps_world_supply...m=010-000032-30 I think just about everybody has them now. I think most just want to get the orders they have out and see how many they have left before promising anyone anything. Just my imagination murph
  24. I got a message also from GPSNow. But I already had mine on order with GPSdiscount. I did not get an email from GPSdiscount stating mine was in or shipped but I did finally call them late this afternoon and they said mine was being shipped. I asked if I could get it overnight and he said he would go catch the FED-Ex guy right now as he was there and could change it. So I won't be sleeping tonight I am sure. murph
  25. I emailed GPSdiscount first thing this morning and have not heard back from them yet.
