  1. Well I got my suction cup mount today. I can see where it will break fairly easy. Because of the curve in my windshield my passenger has a better chance of seeing it. It rattles as you go down the road and trying to hook up your A/C adapter is a pain in the butt as the cradle doesn't allow for it. Glad my name isn't attached to the design of this. murph
  2. I have used my CS with a suction cup mount in my pickup and I get real good reception. I can't think of a time that I lost reception. What will the external antenna give me over just mounting it on the dash?? murph
  3. I like track up for both auto-routing and just plain old traveling. This way when a right turns comes up it shows as a right turn. You can see it a head of time easier. The other reason is on my Vista I am used to the arrow pointing the wrong way when going slow. This way I know up is the way I am going. murph
  4. Actually I am using my windshield mount from my Vista. It works OK. It is just a bit tight in there and looks like it could pop out but hasn't so far. The A/C adapter kind of helps hold it in place also. I have ordered the suction cup mount for the CS but it is not here yet. It is on it's way or I would cancel it and order something different based on the original posters troubles. murph
  5. JB, That was brought up in another thread a while back. I don't think you can but I will watch this thread myself as I would like to make mine larger also. The color screen does help seeing it. murph
  6. I dealt with Scott also. Can't find a more patient guy. He was great to work with and when I decided to change mine to overnight he said well then I have no choice but to hang up on you as Fed-Ex was walking out the door with my package and he said he could get it converted. He got it converted and mine was at my door the next morning by 9:00am. Great guy he is. murph
  7. Turning the compass off pretty much solves the problem. Thanks guys. murph
  8. Avoid UTurn is on (in the route menu and your compass (sensor) is off? I can't seem to find the Uturn feature in the routes menu. I didn't have any routes in the gps so I added on and still can't find it. compass is easy, just hold the page key for a bit. murph
  9. Once I start moving it works great. I notice that it only takes about a minute of sitting as to when it loses it's signal. If I buy the external antenna, would it not be mounted inside also and do the same thing? murph
  10. I have mounted my 60CS on my dash of my pickup using the suction cup mount and I have my cigaretter adapter plugged in. When my pickup is sitting for a while the GPS no longer will know where it is. The north arrow will be pointing everyplace but north. While it is in this position I will click on a waypoint to do routing and it will come up with a real goofy direction to get to where I really want to go. In other words it will show up to go south for a bit, go around the block and head back the direction it should have shown in the first place. If I start moving it finds where it is but I have to do a re-calibrate for it to correct the true direction it should be going. Am I just losing satellites, would an external antenna be better? murph
  11. So you mean you are constantly changing it? Does that not mess up where you actually are? Now don't say that is a stupid question as when making maps I use the minutes/minutes and that is what I stay at all the time because when I started making aerial maps I noticed all of my waypoints where off until someone told me to go to minutes/minutes. So as a newbie here help me. murph
  12. I believe you have to have your GPS set up to read and display it that way. Under setup and then units you can change your GPS to read it the way you wish. Now I have a question. What does everyone here typically got by, degrees/minutes/minutes or degress/minutes/seconds. Which is the best? murph
  13. It kept telling you to turn around because you had set a route and then activated it after you got onto the highway. The GPS was simply doing its job and telling you that you had to turn around in order to get to the first waypoint on your programmed route. You skipped the first point according to what you stated. That does make sense. I have since learned that it is easier to just make an ending waypoint and let my GPS do the routing instead of City Select. It just makes it easier and then I can turn it off and back on so easy. So now I just look up the address and make a waypoint out of it and then it is there easy to find and I can calculate it on a moments notice. murph
  14. that might just do it. I just have to figure out how to make the night mode work all the time. I even think I could use the day mode during the night time. murph
  15. I am having some trouble with having my 60CS on my dash of my pickup as far as being able to see the screen in the daylight. Night time I have to trouble. During the day I have played with the brightness adjustment from one end of the scale to the other and I just have trouble seeing it as it is too light in my pickup. Is there another color scheme or anything like that available or is it just my eyes and no one else is having the trouble? murph
  16. Expertgps has been upgraded to support the 60 series as far as icons and some other items. However, it still does not support the USB cable. You will find this in another post also. So I did order a cable from GPSgeek today and should be recieving in a few days. murph
  17. I am trying to figure out a way to get my tracks from ExpertGPS to my 60CS without buying the serial cable. I used easymps to get the waypoints to Mapsource and then on to my GPS but it did not take the tracks with it. So I guess I will have to break down and buy the cable. Any good ideas on a cheap place to get a cable. I know ExpertGPS is being redesigned but I should buy a cheap cable for the mean time. Murph
  18. I believe your answers are: 1. yes. 2. the original maps are still there, but the regions from City Select that you loaded will take priority over the original "basemap". The basemap will be used for any areas that you don't have City Select installed. Again, you have been most helpful and I thank you. Thank you for your patience. murph
  19. Ok so if I go back and just add two or three regions, the two full states that I amy have in will be gone? Also what has happened to the original map set that came with the GPS then? Also thank you for all of your help along with the others that have responded. I have had a GPS for a couple of years now but this CS really has a lot more things to do on it. murph
  20. Can't they just have you do a clean and then reload the software from start?? I have done a clean on my Vista a couple of times and then just loaded the lastest software. murph
  21. How do I remove the cities that I don't want? Or even the whole bunch that I uploaded so I can go back and reload the just the ones I want. Also I can only load by region right? murph
  22. I notice that when I search for a address the only states that show up are the ones that I uploaded to my GPS from City Select. So if this is the case then City Select will be worth it especially when I travel a lot to large cities and end up in residential addresses. murph
  23. WoW. I found it. So then why did I buy the City Select??? murph
  24. I would use the final waypoint if I had it. Alls I had was the address. I guess I could use City Selects address and then take the waypoint from it and load it in my GPS?? murph
  25. Did you let City Select do your autorouting or did you let your CS do it. I entered addresses for both ends when I did mine and on the map it showed the right route but for some reason when I hit the over/underpasses it wanted me to turn around. I let City Select do the auto routing for me, maybe I should have let my GPS but I didn't have the waypoints to do that. murph
