  1. Be sure to give the cacher the benefit of a doubt. I should know, as I am a newbie and have been WAITING for a chance to move a TB I have had in my inventory for almost a year toward its intended location. I made sure the owner knew, though, and they said it was fine. Basically, my advice is to do as dprovan said, and just say something like "Got any neat plans?" If they still don't reply, try 1 more time after waiting for a while, and THEN mark your TB as missing, but if you think it might be moved eventually, just put Missing in the name. Hope this helps!
  2. Never mind, I already have a goal set.
  3. I have a story to share! Just yesterday, the 2nd TB I released; Mr. Tracker's Journey to the Grand Canyon, made it to the Grand Canyon yesterday! I am really surprised that Mr. Tracker made it, as he is only the 2nd TB that I have released! (The 1st went missing in its 3rd cache, along with about 7 or 8 others at the same time.) Now to see if it gets back home!
  4. Also, if you bought a dog tag, there should be a Copy tag that came with the original as well. You can use that to revive your dog tags, if you haven't lost the copies!
  5. I actually saw one of these Michelin tags at a TB event in the hand of a local cacher!
  6. What is a TB motel ? It is a geocache that is specified for the picking up and dropping off of trackables. Usually, they have TB Hotel, Prison, Motel, etc. in their name. Look up this forum for more details on what to do if you find one. Hope this helps!
  7. Sounds like a great idea! It should have a goal of visiting the Amazon or a banana farm in the tropics, too! great idea! thanks! I'm liking a 'banana farm in the tropics' Ecuador produces about one-third of the world's banana supply, but Costa Rica, Philippines and Colombia are top producers, too. Maybe your monkey should visit all 4! Eh, maybe just one of them would be better. The monkey would be most likely to find a banana farm in Ecuador, though. Just throwing it out there...
  8. What does this have to do with interesting travel bug goals? Just wondering, kinda got lost on this post...
  9. I was thinking about a good name no one has used, and when I glimpsed the Certified Organic sticker on a banana, I thought, "I could do Certified Geocacher!" I shortened it to Certified Cacher, but a typo made it into Certified Casher. (Kinda looks like cashier) I decided it looked more balanced that way, and the name stuck.
  10. Sounds like a great idea! It should have a goal of visiting the Amazon or a banana farm in the tropics, too!
  11. At the same event I saw the TB that wanted to go to Haiti, I saw a mouse attached to a travel bug that wanted to find some cheese far away from its home. "I hear Wisconsin has some pretty good cheese..." If I ever pick that one up, (It might be in my area for a time) I'll take a picture of it with some mozzarella in its paws!
  12. BTW, my sister has a cat Cachekinz, and she doesn't know what goal to give it or what to attach. Any ideas that would increase its chances of survival?
  13. I can't believe it! Sci-Fi Duck's 3rd cache and someone already took a pic of it! (Spirits raised)
  14. That was an accident. Oops! I just deleted it, and now everything's good! Thanks for the advice!
  15. Not even going to address the question. Just gonna say -- Remember this: Once you release it, it is out of your hands and control. (period) There are lots of people (geocachers) out there. All have differing ideas; goals; mindsets; objectives; desires; etc. Many goals have been reached... many goals have never been attained. Truth of the matter is, some TB's never get beyond the first placement, they just turn into "smoke". The reason I am asking this question is because the goal is rather unusual, and I am wondering if I should simplify it or keep it the way it is.
  16. I released this one about a week ago. http://coord.info/TB6RG9Q It has a tag explaining that it is in a race. It is cute, but not special (after all, it IS a rubber duck) It is securely attached, but by the original chain (gulp) There is a motive for geocachers who help it to achieve its goal. How likely is it that people would help this TB achieve its goal?
  17. Just 2 days ago I picked up a TB (TB4J3X7) at an event. She came from Germany and wants to go to the island of Haiti to learn the magic of voodoo. Meanwhile, it wants to visit lots of "magical" places. It doesn't specify pictures, though. I just had it visit its 450th cache, and will take her south to help her achieve her goal!
  18. I would like to make my very first trackable and I am not sure how to go about doing so. List of questions: What kind of TB do I start out with? (Geocoin, travel bug, cachinkez, legoman, etc.) What would be a good goal to start with? What would be a simple, easy item to attach to a TB IF it is a travel bug or another trackable that can be attached to something? What would be a unique name to attach to a 1st TB? How can I ensure that the TB doesn't go missing right away, or even better, not go missing at all and accomplish its goal? If there are any more questions that come to mind, other beginners, feel free to comment and ask those questions! I'm sure other, more experienced cachers and TB loggers than I am would be happy to answer. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!
