  1. Candum- Okay, I will go with the agree to disagree. Thank you for the apology, I apologize too, I didn't mean for this whole forum to go the way that it did. I never would have thought that this would go on and in such a direction..My intention was never to attack you personally. Okay, I am hitting the report button and hopefully this will be locked shortly!!!
  2. Candum...You didn't watch where you were going and you aren't seeming to want to read my cache listing either...go look at my archived cache page right now, nothing was deleted. I just added a few more clues and not to go on private property. And no, that was not in there before because it was a given (so I had thought). Candum, you were in the wrong...no matter how you would have went in there from the pull off (Which is my Moms driveway) you would have been on private property. You were in the wrong and that is all I told you when I emailed you. I didn't like the whoops oh well and you sure didn't say anything back. I was not going to delete your post...why...well I don't really think it is right to delete anyone's posts. I would not want mine deleted. Ultimately you did find the cache. But I was definitely in the wrong too! I should have never brought this to a forum and for 2 huge reasons. Mainly that I felt I had to dump my cache and I didn't do anything wrong. Many cachers found my cache to be very enjoyable, very easy and had absolutely no problem except for all the dogs barking. But that too, was listed on the page. I am a nice person, I like to meet other cachers and that is why I had a cache close by in a cute little quiet park. I am not out trying to bash anyone and I don't deserve to be bashed back. Neither does my Mom. You scared the crap out of her for very obvious reasons. I have tried to contact a couple geocaching publishers in hope that they will lock this forum. It has gotten so rude and I feel very bad about that. I don't mean to have any hard feelings for anyone, especially any cachers that I may run into one of these days. You can break my "Lake Marie" cache, but you can't break me, we will keep on cachin' and one of these days I will find a nice little hideout for the "tribute to lake marie cache".
  3. Then why are you giving it any of your attention Mr Kensquach??? Maybe you should reread what just my posts said. I don't believe I was bashing, it was my topic and I am stating the facts that occured and have the pictures as the proof to back it up. Anyone who caches on private property are taking chances that I don't care to take and don't participate in!!!
  4. I posted cause I needed to vent. My Mom was upset, she was scared at first until she figured that these guys were just geocaching. However, let's all keep in mind, geocacher or not, strange people in your yard can be quite unnerving and I highly doubt my Mom has my cache on her mind every second of the day. So, I got my advice, some good, some bad....that is okay. The cache is archived and now I wish that I had never had it there in the first place. To Candum: I did email you....you never emailed back...so don't say this was a surprise. So you screwed up, it is what it is...it was the "whoops, oh well" that I had an issue with. I am just glad that my Mom got you stopped before you made it to my backyard and my "other" dog, with whom I am sure you saw that made you think twice! By the way....this dog has no access or view of the cache so he is safe in regard to the park, but not safe when trespassers enter the back way!!! Okay...so I have went from being perplexed, to satisfied, to angry then on to defensive and all from posting this one forum. Now I am just down right giddy from it. What a response to one post!!! So here are my final thoughts. A GPS can only get you so far....then common sense must kick in....you stare at a GPS while walking and never look up...well come on....sooner or later you are gonna hit something. Here is what common sense would tell me. Okay, you are driving down the coast hwy looking for a cache....we will call it the "bay ocean spit treasure" rated a 1/1 and doable anytime of the year. A kid friendly cache. So the GPS shows that it is a tenth of a mile west....now it is down to 400ft. west...then drops to 300ft.west and I tell my husband to stop, we are close...we get out of the car and we look around...the only thing between us and that cache is the frickin bay.... so what do I do? Well what do you think? We jump in the water, 12 year old and 1 yr. old in tow and swim 300 ft across in the 45 degree water!!!!! hahaha NO!!! We realize that there must be another way around! Aha...common sense. So here you go...you have a cache in a park, with a lake, with a garden and the GPS shows it is 200 ft east from your car which is on the hwy...So you pull up to a residence you get out of the car and that little bubble called common sense should pop up and say, wow this isn't a park, there isn't a picnic table and a garden, hmmmmmmm and this little so called geotrail....sure Candum..if you can make it through a raccoon trail, be my guest or maybe you should have thought...hmmm I need to go at this another way. I have thought about going out and taking a video of my Moms property and walking around to show you all what this guy did, but I need to let this go. This turned into this whole huge she said he said and now I have felt that I had to archive my cache because of it. Isn't that how it goes???? Everything in our world that used to be fun is ruined or now illegal due to the irresponsible acts of a select few.
  5. Why is your son not allowed on your Mom's property? roflmao....my son can get to my moms yard via our connecting walkway and gate....I meant that I have a mega outdoor boy who builds treehouses and all that good stuff and he can't even get through the thick blackberries! hahaha
  6. You know....I am finding that this was one huge mistake on my part. I was just looking for advice, not a personal bashing. Candum, you are lying and you know it!!!! There are rental cottages and then a home all on the same property, the only way to get between the buildings was to go through the chain and then up and over the wheelchair ramp. There is no "geotrail"!!!!!!!!!!! My 12 year old outdoorsman cannot even cross over from the park to my neighbors house and the neighbor is my MOM!!! And she is not a liar!!!!!!!!!!! ONCE AGAIN, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO WAS NICE AND DIDN'T POINT FINGERS!!!! I thought being that we were all geocachers we were understanding fun people and I thought maybe I could get to know a few....but I guess all activities take all sorts of people. I didn't want to get to personal in this and thanks to all of you who did, my cache is now removed!!!!
  7. Yikes, okay, I give. Common sense says don't go on private property to geocache, sightsee, to picnic or any other activity one might enjoy. I think plenty of people have found my cache just fine and this was the only "bad incident" that I am aware of. For all of you that offered kind advice and could relate...I thank you. I have updated my cache as well as I could without drawing a map to the area...the parking is right on top of the cache for the most part. I don't want to give it all away. As I said, it is rated a 1/1 it doesn't get much easier!!!! And I am glad I went "running" to the forum, there seem to be a lot of great people on here, some great info and lots to learn. So thanks!
  8. Pot, meet Kettle? Hey, I was just wanting to vent and get some ideas on what I should do. Come on...pot, meet Kettle??? I am not the one that did anything here. And who says I am not going to do anything about it?? I don't jump and do stuff...I talk about it and think it through. All I ever wanted here was to know whether or not I had a right to be upset with these guys. Okay?? I don't appreciate your pointing any fingers at me!!!
  9. Okay, so there are two houses in the area, one is mine one is my neighbor... This cache is located in a park, well 1/3 lake, 1/3 park and 1/3 community garden. But the city claims it to all be park I mean I don't want to give it all away in my page, come on, it is already an easy cache. These guys were idiots to go the way they did. I am saying....into a driveway (small) through a little walkway with a chain across it...between 2 small cottages...over the wheelchair ramp and then into a backyard....that has no outlet unless you plan on swimming or doing some extreme bushwhacking and then most likely on to the hospital to be treated for all the gashes in your body!!!!! Now my cache location: There is a picnic table...rope swings...ample parking....signs marking all the plants...signs talking about the garden.....I don't know, I can't understand why there has ever been a question about it, but then I live here so I know it is a park. I agree with most of you that nothing is idiot proof. As for my cache....I am not sure what to do. I like it where it is....my neighbor calmed down....I of course would never call the cops....but I did go a grab the coin....hehehee Thanks for all the comments...well most of them!!!!
  10. Thanks, you have all been great. I did put in a pretty good description, but everyone sees things in different ways. I guess I just needed to hear someone else say they were off base with what they did. This is the first time this has happened with my cache. It was mainly a test cache, as it was our first, so I think it is ready to be moved along! I am not sure if I was right or not, but I did email the cachers... I thought they should know how I felt about the "whoops, oh well" comment. I also think I will leave it for others to see!!! I have been caching for a couple of years now and this is my first time on the forums, this is awesome, so in a way something good came out of this.
  11. Hi, I am not sure where I should be posting this, but I need some advice. I have a cache located near my home in a park and yesterday my dogs were going crazy barking at my neighbors house, but I couldn't see what they were barking at. Later there was a visit to my cache and then I received a call from my extremely upset neighbor. These people that were trying to find my cache entered through the wrong direction and here is the story. They parked in my neighbors driveway, unlatched a chain that is marked "private, do not enter" walked over her wheelchair ramp, entered her backyard and then started to chop through a blackberry barrier that is a barrier between her backyard and the park. Mind you this is about a 30 foot distance that you would have to chop through dense blackberry bushes. Now, not only was this a horribly scary incidence for her; to look out and have 3 guys standing in your backyard, but then I had to try to apologize up one side and down the other. So, I have emailed that user. Mainly because when they marked my cache as found they stated what they had done and just said "whoops, oh well" This is not oops whatever. I am looking at having to disable my cache so that I can live in peace with my neighbor. I understand how she feels. But if this user would have read my cache hints, they would have known they were in the wrong place. I don't consider bushwacking 30 feet of blackberry bushes a 1/1 terrain. Also, to blatantly unhook a privacy chain....rrrrr So what can I do? Can I report them....I can't even find where I can email geocaching to let them know what happened. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks, Johnsquad
