  1. Don't buy from "China" guys is my advise

In december i did so with a 296 for a beutiful price but the package never arrived.

They have lots of names, Sometimes item location in Ireland, Europe but most in China

You see them everywere in the popular segment

They build up a trackrecord with small things not related to gps or expensive things.

What you see is a very good seller and you take the gamble.

Ebay security is only interested in their own interest such as paying by paypal

    They don't remove those pirates.

Yes they warn you not to pay by Western Union afterwards.

It is hard to prove in advance that they are what they are!!!

And offcourse admitting that your busines is invaded by pirates is bad for busines for Ebay.

  2. small correction about seeing only one map type at one time.

You can see bove at the same time.

Go to yahoogroup mapdekode in the file section.

The program transp2a can make a map transparant; you copie your topo map (from c;\Garmin\ map 534?

-first you install mapdecode (all three)

-then transp2a will work after installing

-with one simple klik you make the copie map 534? transparant

Then you install img2gps (also freeware) You use this program for uploading the maps to your Garmin GPS

-first you upload City Navigator (city select \ metroguide) (push button second time)

-then you upload your transparant topo copie 534?

mark the one's you want and consider you can use much less memory then you think you have.

    So when you uploaded your maps to the gps but can't see them;

It was to much. This is very important.

So try two small pieces from each first. Take some more later until you are up to your max.

With the right type of routing (car)

you still can autoroute and see the detail from the topo. (tested)

for the picture see this german site.

    Thanks to Peter from Austria.

ps in mapsource in MAP you can see the names of the maps you want to upload with IMG2gps

    greatz

  4. gentlemen,

    What is the point?

"Haven't checkt it" and "i also heard"

it does autoroute between different maps with metroguide Europe

i use it and i also checkt it in demo mode.

addresses are a problem if you use them

other things like shopping is from the map you are in; that does not have to be a problem.

Metroguide can be your choice if you allready have it or when you think you don't need the rest. It can also not be your choice.

That is all up to you.

  5. you can activate sight 'n go only with reception and after calibrating the compass

putting it off you have to calibrate again when putting it on. This is new.

you can use the bearing pointer and the coursepointer

use sight 'n go with datafield heading= degrees you see on the compassring

This combination heading and pointer gives you the extra feeling of going in the right direction.

loosing reception you still have the pointer were you loose this in a normal go to situation

so when you also use accuracy and you see that the reception gets wourse you change from a go to to a sign 'n go in a reception situation

now you know were you have the compass for.

  6. How do you use it;

In a situation without reception you can check in advance the route you have choosen.

    waypoint / go to / by road/enter

after that; mean menu / setup / system/ gps demo modus.

what you see it what corners it takes .

having speed as a datafield you can speed up with the rocker by pushing it up.

you can check parts of the road by starting at new position and activating.

lots of fun..... (for a rainy day?)

  7. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mdipol/img2gps/

try to read dutch, a language spoken in 23 countries and in your gps (nederlands)

    http://www.geocaching.nl/forum/index.php?showtopic=3223

start img2gps upload from the installed map metroguide put a v next to the map you want and then upload to your gps

img2gps is improved and sendmap is intergrated; you don't need the extra's in the article.

This program is very usefull to load custum build maps you can find on various places on the internet.

take a waypoint, go to by road mean menu/setup/system/ demo modus.

    double dutch?

  8. i fully agree with kqaq

had a etrex yelow and vista, a 76, a 60cs with city select, an now the 60csx with metroguide autorouting

    through img2gps

and yestersay we found to caches we couldn't find with the 60cs.

The technology of Garmin is great and the service when having a problem and getting the right people is even greater.

i also had a meridian color;bad display vision with in sunny conditions, it's slower, maps only 64mb. received longer then the 60cs but of no use with geocaching. Service of local dealer is helpfull, but the guys from Thalens don't give a s... modifications are not as quick as garmin.

new machines allways have interface problems,

Allthough the 3d mapping europe and usa from Mapsend looks very nice on the pc

    I kept that one.

I do hope they get better at thalens so they keep the fooks at Garmin awake.

i am a proven true fan of garmin.

  9. Hi there,

At first i agreed on having city select for a autorouting GPS like the 60 but working with it you use very little of the extra features.

    i use waypoints resently found and selden address;

Loading metroguide with mapsource into a routing gps from the 60,76 etc won't activate the on road function.

But metroguide loaded with img2gps, a freeware program, does.

I check it with the 60cs with city select and de csx with metroguide both the same for what i use.

the point thinking your expert today make you feel a fool tomorrow.

But keep writing about it, it keeps the creative ones among happy to have something to play.

  10. For a nice price in Europe look at www.aspidshop.com

In the Eu no tax and free trade.

From the Us you pay vat

the price difference can be quite small so keep looking.

For city select europe see www.futurumshop.nl 179 euro and 2 unlocks sell the second?

and you get v8 upgrade for free.
