  1. Where? I don't see it anywhere on "myGamin"? I bought it from Amizon on Aug. 2nd and registered it on mygramin on the 3rd. Do you have to buy it from gramin to get the free update?
  2. That's a good rule of thumb, I always just guessed. I've just started using Leetkey and it makes geo-life so much easier.
  3. Numbers and emphasis added. Notice it says, 'warrants alarm', not causes alarm. That's important. In a recent trial, the state appealed the trial court ruling that suppressed their evidence against a man who was arrested for carrying two rifles down the street. The appeals court affirmed the trial court, saying that the officers who detained the man did so illegally, and all the evidence that came from the illegal detention was inadmissible. Open carry is perfectly legal in Washington. Out Standing!!! Thanks for the info thats good to know.
  4. I've read in a German news group that with firmware 3.50 the number of characters in the "Note:" field of waypoints have dropped from 30 th 16 characters. That does not sound too good. Can anybody please confirm or reject this for the 60CSx? I've done the 3.5 update on my 60CSx and the "Note:" fields are still 30 characters.
  5. First off my opinion is not wrong.... that would be the "To me" part that I said. It's my opinion just like your opinion is yours. So you're saying, If I worked at Domino's Pizza I could place a cache near Domino's Pizza, with Domino's Pizza Hats, Coupons and Stickers?? That maybe a love for Domino's but it could be pure advertising to get people to my store. Ebay's a web based business, so there's no difference between a store of a website for them. If you allow Ebay then you have to allow Domino's, so it's easier just to have a blanket guide line that says no. That way it's not left up to individual reviewers. And yes it would be promoting Groundspeak, Groundspeak has allowed commercial caches before, but they have to do it... ie A.P.E... Jeep... So commercials fine as long as they're in control of it. There's plenty of threads about commercial vs Groundspeak and this topic in particular. My view is Groundspeak has a commercial monopoly over geocaching ( The History of Geocaching ) they can do whatever they want on their website.
  6. I carry my H&K P2000SK .40cal concealed in a hip holster when I cache... I've heard of open in Washington but I'm not as brave as Criminal Here's what I know of Washington's open carry...
  7. Ebay's a business, a big business whether they sell something directly or not. And plastering the cache, or cache listing with Ebay's logo is advertising that business. Promoting something you like, such as Landrovers, is one thing..... But you work there, the cache is near the business and its plastered with the businesses logos. To me, that clearly falls within the Commercial Guidelines.
  8. I use my video Ipod and it works great. CacheMagenet, for me is the easiest (one click... "Send to Ipod")and and its made for caching, oh yeah and it free. It organizes them very well, with the main info, hint's and logs separate... but very intuitive and easy to use.
  9. I think it also depends on the mission of the TB. I found one recently that wanted to visit all the major league baseball parks, I'm in Seattle and 2 months after I found it I was going to Minnesota, so the owner was okay with me holding on to it since I was bringing closer to it's goal. I'd say if you have it longer then 2 weeks or so, let the owner know. TB owners just want to know their TB's okay and is moving along, so just keep them informed. But I'm still new.
  10. Those are great thanks!! We're going to have the kids and they get a kick out of Trollville.
  11. I think we're going to go see it. It's at "Seattle's only pizza & beer movie theater" thats reason enough right there!!! It'll be a day of caching with that as the last stop. But, they should post the cords on the movies website and have some swag for the cachers who make it there.
  12. We're heading over to Sequim this weekend and was wondering if there are any "must find" caches over there.. great trails, waterfalls, views... We plan on heading up to Hurricane Ridge and a few other places. Any suggestions?
  13. Holly Cow!! I've been testing it for a few days now and I love it. The "Send to Ipod" is the GREATEST thing ever. I hate printing the info or writing it down. Adding the Ipod to my caching gear is now a must. Not too sure what "Transform" does. There's a few things I'd like to see but I'll post those over at sourceforge (after I have a look at the source ) next week.
  14. Wow, I've been doing it wrong...opps. Oh well, I'm still new. I've just been editing/updating my DNF... but changing the date so it shows up as a recent log, I'm watching the cache and got notified of it, so you do get notified if you update the log date.... Here's one I did just yesterday.. ___ August 13 by geoSpartan (23 found) Found it!!!! The third times the charm. We had a good signal today and found it quick. Thanks for the long hunt. TNLNSL [July 09, 2007] Okay, today was my second attempt... and still no luck... I've looked at the hints, pics, and even other posts. At first I thought it was my old GPS, so I just spent $400 on a new one and still I walk in circles. ARRR! I'll try one more time in a few days. [June 25th 2007] Walked around and around, the GPS couldnt make up its mind. I'll try again this summer. ___ .... but I never thought about the DNF stats for the cache owner. I'll start adding it as a separate log, even thou I hate frownys. Thanks for the info.
  15. I was thinking about setting up a DVD Exchange and I know there are a few out there. My question are as a cache owner, does it take more work and effort to manage? I would assume no "R" rated movies, which means "the 300" ("This is Sparta") is out, but I can deal with that, thats reasonable. What about PG13? PG13 means no one under 13 without a parent, but don't most kids under 13 cache with an adult? Can I just put a warning that there maybe PG13 movies in the cache? Any other things to be aware of? Besides movies magically disappearing without being replaced with another one.
  16. Is there a webpage where I can see all the advertisers that are on the geocaching.com website, in one area? I've seen an add for something I wanted but the ad hasn't appeared again and I keep refreshing.
  17. Nice app! I'm a .NET developer myself, no worries here about the .Net issue. I can't wait to play around with CacheMagnet some more next week when I have time. Keep up the great work and thanks for the FREE prog!!
  18. When I first seen this I thought they signed it "xoxoxoxo".... I was about to say "now thats service".
  19. I've found CN v7 for 60 bucks, so I thinking about buying that for now, and from the sounds of it you can update from any old version..... Its going to work out to the same price as the full version on CN 2008, but I dont want to spend 120 on v8 then upgrade for another 60 bucks in a few months when 2008 is working. The more I think about it, it's kind of shaddy... but it will be the same price in the long run.
  20. Can you upgrade from v7 to 2008? Or do you need to upgrade from v8? And on the Garmins website for Mapsource Update City Navigator 2008 NT, it doesnt say anything about needing a previously installed version. Does it say it on the package under system requirements? I realize it says "update", but that could just mean its a new version, not a software "upgrade" which most software companies call it.... semantics I guess.
  21. I'm in the EXACT same boat. From the sounds of it, a work version of CN2008 is a ways down the road. I'm going to buy CN V8 if I can find it for a good price. Hopefully they'll offer a rebate or something to upgrade once its running right.
  22. Copyright laws expire after 95 or 75 years, depending when it was created, after that it becomes public domain. Or an artist CAN (and a lot do) renounce their copyright and give their music and lyrics to the public, thus becoming public domain. ... They don't have to be dead, and it doesn't have to be years down the road. In any case public domain means you can preform, reproduce, record, or publish it and that includes burning cd's, either to give away or to sell. Thats why I said "Assuming all music is copy written is ignorant." .....because ALL music is not. I feel bad that this guys thread has be hijacked based on an assumption. But thanks for the spelling lesson.
  23. Did no body read what the original poster said... "My question isn't about copyright law. It goes to quality of merchandise." To assume that it's a ripped CD is just that, an assumption. And more importantly not all music is copy written. There's plenty out there for public distribution. I'm in a band myself, if anyone wants to get the word out about my music, please do so. But to answer the authors post, "My question isn't about copyright law. It goes to quality of merchandise.".. I think it's great, I'd grad it! Other people may not, but whoever says if they found it they'd destroy the cd's??? Unless you find out whats on the CD and research it to see if it's copy written, you're just another muggle / geopocher destroying a cache. Assuming all music is copy written is ignorant.
