In 2008, a friend geocacher asked my help to design a geocoin dedicated to the Algarve, portuguese main touristic area, in the south shore on the country, facing North Africa. The research for the design elements, focused on the Algarve specificities, such as, the shape of the province, the sun, the traditional algarvian chimneys, almond blossom and the coat of arms on the national flag. This geo coin was minted in gold and silver platings.

Hi! I suggest you to place this question in Brazil forum. Myself I will be FIFA Media Leader volunteer here in Manaus, so the time for events will be scarce, but there are some WC2014 related caches, already.

The portuguese geocaching community started to mint annual geocoins since 2006... first, from the motivation of few geocachers, but later, with design contests in the foruns, where every user can suggest ideas, drawings, whatever... until a final election to choose the official portuguese geocoin of a given year. In 2008 I won that year's contest with a geocoin dedicated to Fado, our national song, later considered World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. During the contest and the designing process, some changes were made, so in the back of the coin, I placed a verse from Gente da Minha Terra, a song made famous by Mariza... and I had to use only 6 strings on the portuguese guitar, but in fact they are 12. This geocoin was minted in gold and cooper versions.

And we would love to see them all!

Since we begin to geocaching, I carefully thought about our "signature"... so I choosed a nickname related to our hometown and a logo able to say a little bit of ourselves. A good "signature" is halfway to the community recognition... as long with a positive and constructive approach to the game, also. After that, I got hooked by the geocoin design and production... until today. I always think about all the stories behind any design... geocoins, nicknames, any design we see on geocaching and geocachers. This is the place to share all the brainstorming... and hopefully a nest for new ideas and designs.

I'm looking forward for the next story, Paulo.

Numa PQ podemos escolher uma série de parâmetros para um determinado conjunto de caches, que depois serão enviadas (periodicamente ou uma única vez) para o nosso email. Podemos escolher que tipo de cache queremos, a dificuldade de terreno ou acesso, a localização por nome de cidade ou distância de onde nos encontramos, etc. Imagine escrever "Lisboa" e minutos depois, receber no seu email, um ficheiro .gpx com todas as caches da cidade, que correspondam aos parâmetros que tenha escolhido. Nunca mais quererá outra coisa

Não tenho experiência com o 64, apenas com o 60cs, 60csx e o Dakota 20... mas eventualmente poderá estar apenas a haver algum erro na pasta onde os ficheiros .gpx estejam a ser guardados. Pela sua 2ª pergunta, presumo que não esteja a usar pocket queries (só disponíveis para Premium Members), pois elas resolvem imediatamente esse "problema". Para que as caches me apareçam disponíveis no meu Dakota 20, preciso guardá-las (uma a uma ou por PQ) na pasta GPX do recetor... e não na memória de cartão (no caso do seu ter, claro).
