  1. Dear Mineral2 Thanks for your unsympathetic reply. My device is probably 5 years old and it has all the capability that I need. I have continued to use many outdated but useful devices such as printers. Most times the legacy devices are useful because the user does not wish to go beyond its original function. There are lots of people on the net who have the intellectual curiosity, take up the challenge and provide a workaround. You are obviously not one of these and continue to give into the ever continuing upgrades to consume "stuff"at ad infinitum. Garmin should have provided legacy compatibility for its brand name devices. Be assured that I will find a workaround without your help or sympathy!
  2. The etrex is no longer supported by garmin express connect. Does anyone know how to download gpx files from geocaching.com?
  3. I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 265W. I already know that, although it is designed as an automotive GPS to find your way to a predetermined destination, providing turn by turn instruction, it can be used in my locale in Canada and the US for geocaching purposes. I would like to invite comments on its and similar GPS's use worldwide. Will they for example pick up GPS satellites in Europe or anywhere else around the world, using its worldwide base map? Your comments will be most appreciated. County Couple
  4. Thank you Chuy, We are going to Mexico in a couple of weeks and will try your advice. Regards, County Couple
  5. Thank you DENelson83. I never got a "poor satallite reception" message. Is there something in the setup which can coordinate the almanac with the skyview. I am not sure I understand this concept. Your help will be much appreciated. County Couple
  6. I have used eTrex in Canada, the US and Hungary with great success, However on recent trips to Toscany (Florence) and Mexico (Cabo San Lucas), I was not able to connect with satellites to enable the GPS. When we returned to Canada, eTrex worked just fine. Each time I experienced problems I inserted new batteries with no improvements. Does anyone know of blind spots on the surface of the earth? Has anyone experienced similar issues? Any input will be much appreciated. County Couple
