  1. I have a few unregistered trackables. One of them, a trackable that looks like my cat, is one really want to keep but don't want it to just sit on a shelf forever, so I was thinking of having it travel plans with me and only me, no placing it in caches or anything like that. I would like to know, is this allowed or is it against the rules to do this?
  2. I'd hate to be a snitch, but I might have to report it to one of my local reviewers then. If not, I'll probably contact someone who is part of the group and inform them about not nailing tags into trees.
  3. If I happen to find one of the people who manages the account, I could try to ask them to change the tag to a different spot that isn't nailed to a tree or maybe why they kept the tag in the tree, as there could be a good explanation. The cache was originally published back in 2003, so I'm guessing the "no nailing tags into trees" rule didn't exist at the time.
  4. Figured out a way to upload a picture, here it is (covered the coordinates on the tag to not spoil the cache and where it is). As you can see at the top and bottom of the tag, there are two nails that are nailed into the tree. The account that owns this cache (original owner quit so they now adopted it around 2009) is an account mostly used for hosting event caches and I'm sure that the account is owned by a group of highly known cachers in our area, some of them have tens of thousands of finds. I'm guessing that they followed the rules while placing this tag.
  5. I had found one before that looks like it had been nailed into a tree (couldn't upload the picture as the file size was too big), how were they allowed to do it?
  6. (1) What if the land is a public space or I cannot find who owns the land? (2) What are some ways that I can put the tag into the tree without nailing it in?
  7. I have seen some Multi Caches before and some stages had tags with numbers on them that were on trees (the trunk of the tree, not the branches). I'm thinking of making my own Multi Cache soon and might do this myself, what rules do I have to follow in order to place tags on trees?
  8. My phone is the Motorola G8 power. I might as well turn the picture 90° then save that image and upload it on the geocaching app, then the image will turn and appear normal (hopefully). Thanks for the help!
  9. Tried that just now, it makes the picture upside down Edit: tried it both clockwise and counter clockwise, both had the same result
  10. Then how come mine are showing sideways? Could it possibly be a bug or an error in the code? I'm on Android and my version is 9.1.0 if that helps.
  11. Just logged a cache a few days ago and uploaded a picture, this is what it looks like on the app when I upload it and what the picture looks like in my photos app. Again I have no idea why this happens.
  12. Tried clicking on the link and it just sent me back to here. Perhaps you put the wrong link?
  13. Thanks! Also, after I get the tags, how do I imprint the numbers on them?
  14. I was thinking if hiding my own multi cache soon with a few waypoints. I've seen a few multi caches with tags before, but can't find any online, can someone send to a link to somewhere that sells them? This can include tags for trees, although I probably won't place one of those unless I can find a tree that I would be able to put one on
  15. I take the picture on my camera app,not the geocaching app, when I upload the picture to my log before uploading it, it appears sideways, even though it looks normal when I view my photos, my most recent picture isnt popping up yet but it happened to that one too
  16. Do you mean how i take the picture or how the picture looks on my screen?
  17. When logging caches, sometimes I upload pictures, but they always appear sideways. Is there a way to fix this or is it just a bug?
  18. Was watching this video for ideas for future caches and noticed a similar cache at 1:10 in the video, even though its not magnetic, am I allowed to hide something like this?
  19. I meant the ones that have the log sheet glued (or taped, I don't know) to the back of the magnetic sheet, but this should work. Thanks!
  20. I've seen a few magnetic strip caches before and just wanted to know, how do I make my own? Also, any links to the supplies so I know what to get?
  21. Ok, thank you! I'll use this advice in the future. I have a ton of caches at home so I won't need to worry about that and I've been to a few events, luckily there's a bunch coming up soon. Too bad I can't adopt them from inactive cachers.
  22. I would want to adopt one so that I can either help with better maintenance on that cache or if the C.O. moves away and can't replace the cache.
  23. I've been looking for a while in my area for caches that I can adopt but its very hard to find any. Is there a website or something that can show/notify me of any caches up for adoption in my area? If there are none, how do I increase my chances of finding one up for adoption or get asked if I want to adopt one?
