  1. No Problem working on Street Pilot III. Just tell it to look for words "Do not" Then type away. Limit is six lines.
  2. I think the trip going and finding the cache is more important then what is in it. I could care less what is in it. I have even gone on a cache where I walked over ten miles in a wilderness, taking almost ten hours and just signed the log, took nothing and left a small item. I don't think you get the point about geocaching. Maybe you should return the gps to it's owner. Would you have not gone if you knew is was a religious cache?
  3. I think some people may be conceptually challenged by a travel bug. They, like many of us, never bother to read the instructions on how to log a find an a placement. I have helped several on their way, but feel guilty when they are lost..Just me. Even though I travel several states. I will leave them alone. Hopefully there will be a better system someday.
  4. GPS or pilot error..It happens. Have often do we make stupid mistakes. As an ex Air Traffic Controller. Things happen, just as they happen in your every day. God , if we could just undo them.
  5. Just wonder how many people cheat on their taxes. Is that any different? Do the people that rebuke a cd. Also report every last cent they made, or take deductions that they really didn't have.

This is what I saw a couple weeks ago across the street from a park while hunting a cache. http://home.earthlink.net/~whidbeywalk/_images/trashy_house.JPG I believed the wife said, " Honey will you please take out the trash."

  10. A car dealer advertises coordinates of a cache that if found you get an extra $500 off any car you buy from us. Caches could be placed to entice people to their business. The possibilities are almost unlimited. They could become almost as bad as pop-up ads. [This message was edited by welwell on March 16, 2002 at 03:19 PM.]
  11. Frankly I don't think that anyone who is supporting Jeremy should be called an elitist. Why all the name calling. Is it just because of MOC's? I doubt if more then a handful will have them and if so... so what. At the way geocaching is growing ...soon there will be a cache on every block. Then when do you say " there are too may caches," and what do we do with the problem of too many! Is it that you think that Jeremy is going to make too much money and doesn't deserve it! Would you be willing to take his place and work seven days a weeks so others can have some fun. Are we like Chicken Litte and think the sky is going to fall. What about the other things that Jeremy has coming later for members...should we start whining now before it is announce or wait til after. Should everyone be refered to as the 'Have's and the Have-nots'. Maybe we should save our $30 and buy a case of beer for the entertainment value. ...And this too shall pass...Peace
  12. Why not Just use a virtual cache and let them confiscate that. Just a thought. Obvisously we don't harm the park and in many cases we even pick up the trash. We are the good guys at the park. I wish the NPS would work with us. What a combination that would be. It may even increase their Park attenance. Here in TN we have several wilderness areas that are pristine. Many are owned by company's that let hikers, campers and anyone that wants to visit the area use it free of charge. Rarely do you even see any trash and in no instance have I seen any destuction. This site is a good example. http://www.tntech.edu/www/life/orgs/grotto/Gulf/bowater.html BTW one on the best caches ever is in this wilderness. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10896 [This message was edited by welwell on March 11, 2002 at 04:13 PM.]
