Whew! I have the etrex Vista and it was giving me this exact problem today. It stunk because I was set out to get about five geocaches about twenty miles away and then I was having problems with the gpsr. I did the update on Garmin's website and it seems to work good now. all in all i am thankful i don't have to go out and buy a new one! (for now, anyways).
