In lake lure NC, someone made a giant smiley face over the lake, that made me chuckle. Maybe go for something more creative though, what about something that combines with the landscape to form a picture?
Near Edisto island, there is a art-installation type thing in a marsh as you leave the island called the mystery tree. It's basically just a tree decorated with junk. It's been there for a long time, and it gets redecorated every once in a while. Most importantly, it screams GEOCACHE. Someone should put a cache on it, it would have to be a kayak required cache. I don't live anywhere near Edisto, I just wanted to put this out there in hopes that someone else will make it.
I once saw 2 caches on opposite side of a mall parking lot and the same person had loged them BOTH as found, but said that they couldn't sign due to black widow spiders on BOTH of them. Seems a bit suspicious to me.
I beg to differ. there are many great caches in my area, with a fair amount of quality maintenance. the only real problem I have had is with a lack of geocoin etiquette.
Hoi, I used to do some geocaching about a year or 2 ago, but back then I didn't have the app (or a phone, for that matter), and as a result, I failed at every cache. now i'm back, I have the app, and I will be hiding my first cache tomorrow!
