  1. As a GPS expert I would not recommend this model to anyone. How does one get to be an "Expert"? I'm curious.. What is an expert anyway?
  2. AWESOME!! I bought a new 550 Oregon with $50 off and now another $50USD!

  4. I have had good luck with Construction adhesive, It works well but it only comes in caulking tubes.
  5. I had a great time last year. We plan on being there again. Book rooms early as last year there was a tournament that same weekend. We ended up at Georgian College Residence where we had student suite with kitchen, private bath, two bedrooms, TV and free internet. It was a good deal at $69 a night. Link Murfster ps This year I will not have as far to go.
  6. Thanks, That was fast!
  7. I'd like to have a larger display GPS for driving ( pehaps one that even speaks directions). I'd also like to load caches on it. Has anyone got any experience or suggestions? Thanks!
  8. I looked at www.survivalstraps.com Does anyone know how to tie cord like that so you could make your own? DIY Murfster
  9. time to start hidding some of your own. HA! He has and more than many of us with a 140 hides!!!
  10. I did 2 with my son-in-law but it was -22 with a windchill of what seemed like -42. So we called it a day.
  11. Many thanks to all the Guys and Gals (?) that spend so much time helping with geocaching. All the best to them and their families for a wonderful holiday season!
  12. This is great as I'll be heading there next summer as well! Started my PQs!! =)
  13. I'm looking forward to it. Booked the guest room at friends in Halifax and hope to see more of the east coast at the same time.
  14. We rented from Egan in July and were pleased. Travel time is SLOW and the caches were often a long way from the docks. It is more of a boat holiday with a bit of caching. Lovely area but you can do a lot more caches with a car. IMHO
  15. Thanks for the suggestions....keep them coming =) I'm packing. Murfster
  16. If you could live anywhere in Ontario, with reasonable cost of living, good weather and lots of caches where would you move to? Murfster
  17. FYI, You can put the Tiffen Trails (and more) right on your Garmin GPS if you use the Ontario Trails Project files (it's the same data for Tiffen). You will definately need the current version of Mapsource to view the GPX File. http://trailmaps.torontogeocaching.com Thanks... nice to learn something new. See you later today! Murfster... from da res!
  18. OK so I'm a few versions behind.. I knew my maps were old but never thought about MapSource. I'm downloading the newer version ( 6.15) as I write this. Thanks!
  19. It is a series of track logs for many many trails in Ontario, not just Tiffen. Use a program like Mapsource to read it. That's what I thought.. but in my mapsource I can not import/open gpx that is why I always went through gask to export. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  20. Probably a silly question.. ( There are many things I've yet to learn.) But what do I do with the Tiffin Trail GPX file? Is that the trails or caches in the park? I can deal with caches but see nothing when I pull the gpx file into gsak?? Help.... Looking forward to Saturday... Murfster
  21. As a fan of all things technical, I thought many of you might be interested in a CBC Radio show "Spark" that I never miss. Spark deals with a few different technology stories each week. Spark is a blog, radio show, podcast and an ongoing conversation about technology and culture. This week Episode 80 has an interesting article on "OpenStreetMap". Spark has not yet done a story on Geocaching but I have suggested it to them. [You could drop them a note as well ;-) E.mail spark@cbc.ca Twitter http://twitter.com/sparkcbc Murfster
  22. The download is too long! Is there a better way? A faster site that could host? An FTP site? I let it run all night and had only 10%.. any suggestions? Murfster
