  1. I, like most cachers I think, start out in this hobby not really knowing what is expected. Heck, I didn't even know what happened to the logs. Where do they go ? Does anyone even see that I wrote "quick grab"? It all changes after that first hide. When you (the hider) start getting the logs from the finders. You realize what that means. We have a very active caching couple in SC (PiscesNAries) that have a series honoring local cachers in the state. By the time I was so honored, my strategy had changed. For those who care, here is my log from that cache - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...b8-3e4438d665b0
  2. The easiest way is to load a pocket query from geocaching.com into gsak (freeware) and do file>export>tomtom poi file. Then copy the poi file into the TomToms map folder. All of the caches will shop up as POIs and you can have a sound play every time you get within a specified range. I have mine set to play the bugle at 200 yards.
  3. Hey... I have found a workaround for avoiding the snapped mode ! When geocaching in the Netherlands I load the map of the canary islands, in that way it Will NEVER snap to any road. It works perfectly, for the last meters to the cache i use a normal magnetic compass, offroad will show the exact heading (the number on the right in the virtual compass of offroad) to use even when standing still and also the distance is accurate. My only choice here (US) is the Guam map and it does not work. When I try to use it, it gives me a coordinates are wrong error or something similar. I think if someone with technical skillzzzz could develop a blank map this problem would be fixed. You could navigate to the cache using the regular map then switch to the blank map for to find the cache. This sounds like it would be a fairly simple fix, but I have no idea how to make this work. Keeping my fingers crossed...

I have recently been thinking if I could create a blank map it would be perfect for geocaching. You could use the road navigation to get to the cache and then switch to a blank map for the find. Now I just got to figure out how to create a map.
  5. I agree with Geo Sparten, the export to iPod feature is fantastic! This will save trees! Great job and I look forward to using it in the field.
  6. I use the TomTom One exclusively for caching and it works great! I have loaded and use the Off road Navigator, but do not use the "navigate to" or "fav" function. I have not gotten that to work. I just use it as a hand held GPSr when I know I'm close to the cache. The only problem as reported here and every where else is the snap-to function. If you get approximately 75 yard away from the road it works very well. Obviously this can be turned off as it is turned off in the Off Road Navigator software. I just wish they would include that in the off the shelf software. The more I use this device, the more I like it.
  7. Thanks, this is what I've been looking for. I'm not sure why the tomtom one gets beat up so much in these forums. I love it for geocaching. Especially with the off road feature specified above.
  8. If you do a google search for OffRoad Navigator it does not return any hits. Do you have any info on this? I would love to be able to make my TomTom One quit the snap to road feature.
