  1. Well all, It has been a fun run while it lasted. I did try to revive AR caches by creating an AR server of my own. Unfortunately, GC HQ did not approve the use of my AR Web App services. I can completely respect their decision. While it is sad that the GC community has lost what has become a great upgrade in creating experiences for the game, there will be more opportunities for new experiences in the future. I had a GREAT time working with the many of you from around the world in re-creating your AR experiences. I have gotten to virtually experience many of your creative methods of implementing AR to caches. With your help, I have been able to add many more features to my personal Location Based Game WEB app server. Thank you all for letting into your creative worlds. TALK2AZS
  2. Seeing how Metaverse from gometa.com is on life support, I went ahead and built my own web based AR hosting solution. It is still a work in progress. Originally I used HPReveal, but as we all know, that died pretty quickly. I was then able to move all my AR experiences to Metaverse. And now I was able to move all of my AR experiences to my web based AR server solution. So far with my testing, everything works exactly the same as Metaverse. Since this is a work in progress, I am offering any of you that still have living AR caches , and do not want to archive them, I am offering to work with you on keeping your AR caches alive by moving your AR experiences to my server if you have not found another solution. The good thing about my server is that it works exactly like Metaverse did by having a user scan a QR code with their device's camera (just like scanning a QR code for the digital menu at a restaurant), therefore your cache would sill qualify as an AR cache. By working with you, I can see how others have implemented the use of Metaverse, and be able to add additional functions to my project. The functions I have right now are (Q&A, Play Everywhere), (Q&A, Play GPS Location), (Direct Text, Play Everywhere), and (Direct Text, Play GPS Location). I would love to add more functions in the future. Just contact me via my Geocaching talk2azs profile. I will work with you on a first come, first serve basis.
  3. Coachstahly, in your post on August 23rd, you countered my text, with the following text: "Where on the cache page does it state that the verifier is NOT mandatory? This is the crux of the issue for me." Are you really in need of having every little detailed spelled out for you by having the English language spoon fed? Maybe some additional text on the cache page is needed just for people who need to have the do's and don'ts of a cache hunt specifically listed. The text below should be a good start! 1> Always drive your vehicle on roads. Not on people! 2> Do not drive your vehicle into the Lake! 3> Park your vehicle(IN A PARKING LOT), before hunting this cache! 4> In order to get out of vehicle, open door, get out, close door! Now walk to cache coordinates. 5> The cache container is NOT for human consumption. It will be harmful to your health if swallowed! 6> The contents of the cache container should not be eaten! May be harmful if swallowed! 7> Caution: The contents of this cache container should not be fed to fish. 8> Eating rocks in the cache area will lead to broken teeth! 9> Do not hunt this cache while sleeping or unconscious! 10> If you will be using shin pads, be informed that they cannot protect any part of the body they do not cover. 11> Do not place cache container in eyes. Cache container may irritate eyes! 12> Cache container WILL be hot after being exposed in open flame! 13> Do not use the cache container orally. 14> Do not climb inside this cache container and close it up. Doing so will cause injury and death. 15> Do not use cache container as an ear plug! 16> After finding the cache, twist top off with hands! Do not put top in mouth! 17> The cache container will be hot after heating! 18> Choking hazard: This cache is a micro container! DO NOT PUT IN MOUTH! 19> Warning: May cause drowsiness if hunting for this cache for too long a period of time! 20> Cache container is NOT to be used as a personal flotation device! 21> In case of flood, PROCEED UPHILL. In case of flash flood, proceed uphill quickly. 22> Do not eat plants in the area as some may be poisonous! 23> Do not place cache container into any openings on your body! 24> Cache container not intended for use as a dental hygiene tool. 25> After hunting this cache, proceed back to your vehicle on foot! (By on foot, I mean walking!) 26> When you arrive back at your vehicle, open door. If your vehicle's door does not open, UNLOCK the door. Now open the door. Get into your vehicle through the big opening the now open door created. Once you are in your vehicle, make sure you arms and legs are completely inside before closing the door. Start you vehicle using your key. Put vehicle in gear of the direction you would like to go.
  4. WOW! I cannot believe this is actually a topic! Reading some of these posts solidifies my thoughts that are convincing me that humanity really is regressing! How can anyone possibly think that the checker I placed on the page is mandatory? Where on the cache page does it state that the verifier is mandatory? I want to give a thumbs up and a shout out to the few of you who have the ability to still use logic and can still read and understand the English language. You understand that the verifier is there for your convenience. Just wait till you see the changes on the cache page I will be making on my Smokey and the Bandit cache GC7MPJF ! That will give some of you more reasons to gripe on this thread! I can't wait to be entertained by those comments that will hopefully have me laughing even harder. So bring it on! Throw those verbal punches at me! "Entertain me some more my little minions!" Quiz: Where did that last quote come from? I have been trying to get away from and quit this game for some time now. But when reading forums like this, you people keep pulling me back into the game. This thread has inspired yet another idea for a new simple cache puzzle hunt! I think I will call it: "Humanity in Regression". Here are some tips for those of you who get easily angered in this GAME called Geocaching! Having recently spent time in Geo-Prison, I need to take some of my own advice here also! 1> There is a nice little button that GCHQ has included on every cache page. It is called the IGNORE button. If a cache page makes you angry, ((((USE THAT BUTTON ASAP!!!)))) and you'll never be bothered by that cache page again! 2> Don't create threads like this on a public forum! You risk making yourself look foolish! 3> Just have fun hunting a cache whether you find it or not! The cache hide discussed in this thread has turned out to be MUCH harder than originally intended, and has angered many of you! If you are one of those angered people, go back and read tip #1. Think very very very small and use the right tool! (OOPS, was that another hint?) 4> To those who like to assume things when reading text written in the English language, I advise you to go back and read MY post again, maybe 3, 4, 5, or even 10 times before making assumptions! I think everyone should read this post at least 2 times. We are all human and we miss things when reading words the first time. 5> If you find yourself to be one of those that get easily angered in this game, it may be time for you to step away from Geocaching for a while and think about what is really important in your life. If this game ranks very high in importance and priority in your life, then it may be time for you to seek some psychological help. 6> Do not put yourself in the position of going to Geo-Prison. The food in there sucks! A special shout out goes out to the many of you in the GC community who have encouraged me and made me laugh while doing time in Geo-Prison! You know who you are!!! I will not post your names to prevent nutty people from harassing you in forums like this!
  5. The big tragedy with this entire issue is that all Geocaches inside Stone Mountain Park may have already be compromised. RFAIR404 has already gone to the Stone Mountain Park Police inquiring about my caches and possibly others in the park. It's just another example of the old phrase...."All good things must come to an end!" All we can hope for is that the massive attention this issue has brought to light gets put on the back burner. Knowing the chief of police and some other officers in the park, this issue will not be forgotten anytime soon and will most likely flair up again in the near future, if the burn isn't already on full throttle! Geocaching in Stone Mountain Park is definitely in danger as of today! We as Geocachers are known for taking care of the environment. That is part of what this game is all about. And unfortunately, when the boat gets rocked, consequences will ensue. This boat in SMP has definitely been rocked to the point of capsizing! Attempt to hunt all caches inside SMP while you still can! I may be sounding doom and gloom like. I am a pessimist by nature and I truly hope that I am wrong in this case!!! This is a sad...sad day in the Geocaching world!!!
  6. If you take a look at my recent cache hides, I have placed some easier ones and I even mention in one or two of these cache pages that I have hidden enough difficult hides to last a while. My purpose of placing what are now considered my difficult hides was to try and bring something new into this game rather than placing yet another cache hide that is worn out and used many times.
  7. Isn't pollution a man made/altered object that is intentionally or unintentionally dumped somewhere, whether it be water or land, and left there to be forgotten about? But it is not considered pollution if the intent is to be able to retrieve the container. So if my container at the bottom of the lake is considered pollution, then wouldn't all Geocache containers in the park be considered pollution? Many containers hidden on land would not meet EPA regulations. As where my container at the bottom of the lake and all supplies used.are of food grade, non toxic material that is also safe to be put into the average home aquarium. I have implemented multiple retrieval techniques, which will unfortunately be made public once the cache has been found the first time. I implemented those so that I am able to retrieve the cache easily should natural causes compromise the cache. The cache and materials used are all aquarium safe ,aterials and should the unlikely event the container get lost forever, it will not hurt the environment. I also implemented those techniques so that I can perform easy and fast maintenance. The log paper I used is also environmentally safe. If you take a look at all the documents provided by RFAIR404, all caches inside Stone Mountain Park would be in violation of at least one of those ordinances, which means technically all caches inside the park will have to be archived! Just some food for thought!
  8. I know the cache you speak of. I just tried looking for that cache but was unable to locate it. I was going to hunt it on my next trip down to Tallahassee from Atlanta. That is too bad. It sounded like a great cache. I remember it being closer to the airport. Try to get in touch with Sandi....Tallahassee-Lassie. I think she remembers the cache well and who hid it. Sorry I could not give any more information. Too bad about the cache. I was really looking forward to that one.
