Set out today to find a local cach and noticed even though the distance to go was counting down the mtrs to go the compass needle was pointing the opposite way from direction I was traveling . On previous finds the needle always pointed roughly in the direction I was heading. I am using a Vista cx . Any advice would be greatly appreciated

without sounding a real dummy how do you select the map from set up menu . I have looked at instructions but to no avail

Thanks for the advice and owners manual link .I have tried downloading the maps again but they are still coming up cant open "image corrupted " . when trying to open them on pc or sd card . I am running windows 8 if that makes any difference. Thanks again in advance

I have recently bought a used garmin vista cx (no instructions )but still managed to find my first geocache today by loading the gps co-ords from this site. My problem is I have been trying to load the free Talky toast maps without any luck .I loaded them onto pc but when trying to open them it keeps saying file corrupted. I don't think the etrex has any maps loaded . Any advice on maps to purchase or for free would be great Thanks in advance

A big hello from another newbie . Realy looking forward to getting out there once i obtain myself a handheld gps. A quick question if i may. Would a basic garmin etrex be any good or is something a bit more advanced be required Thanks in advance Ray
