  1. Sorted! You need to set the datum in EasyGPS to match the GPS itself. Obvious when you know!!! Thanks again for the suggestions. Now, where's my shovel....
  2. I had my first caching trip last weekend - borrowed a friends GPS, that turned out to be dud. Needless to say, we failed to find the cache. Anyway, as we arrived, two people were getting in their car (this was the middle of nowhere). I was surprised at my reaction - I felt very 'shifty' and a bit embarrassed! Maybe I need GC assertiveness training so I can stand proud and declare to the world "My name is Chris, and I hunt for plastic boxes!" I now have my own, used but working (Thanks ebay!) etrex Venture, and as soon as it stops raining my daughter and I will resume the hunt where we left off. I will attempt to greet strangers with a smile and an enthusiastic hello. After all, 'muggles' are just cachers without a GPS!
  3. Datum set correctly. I am off to try and find the one I cited - I will take both sets of data to see how far off it throws me. I hope I don't have to alter all the data every time, seems to challenge the convienience of being able to download it! Thanks so far.... any other suggestions welcome!
  4. Hi All My GPS arrived yesterday and I started to download some cache sites ready for a hunt today. I am using EasyGPS and my word, is it easy - brilliant! BUT, I have noticed that the Long/Lat is different when downloaded - not by much, for example, one nearby is: N 54° 16.520 W 004° 21.795, but when I send it to my GPS, it is logged as N54 16.869 W004 21.405 Should I change my GPS to the co-ords on the site or not be too worried? And why does it do this? Look forward to some sound advice - cheers, Chris.
