  1. I've never used the forums here, but I am traveling to a place I've never visited, Maui! Anyhow I'm looking desperatly for anyone who can point me to a pocket query along the road to Hana? (I probably have the spelling way off) I'm not sure of route numbers or road names.... Help! Thanks in advance for any assistance given. The Mojave Sasquatch
  2. Yeah I'd like more info, More screenshots....... Will it work with my PDA? Etc....etc...... Price seems steep when compared with GSAK and other programs out there...... Does anybody out there reading these use this or can more info be provided? Please???? Thanks in advance!
  3. I would like to recommend That you consider Saddleback Butte state park, or even Red Rock Canyon state park. Both are N. of LA, Red rock probably being the preferred place to star gaze of the two. I spend a lot of time out there with my 8 inch reflector scope stargazing. You might consider contacting somebody from the Antelope Valley Astronomy Club see website: http://www.avastronomyclub.org (I'm a member) there may be other areas listed that may appeal to you. Both are around 2+ hours to get to from LA. Tons and tons of Caches heading towards the Red Rock Canyon state park Too. Regards, DFB
  4. It could have been.Which cache did you see me at? What color was the vehicle?
  5. Greetings all! A friend and I have been kicking around an idea for a Geo-event in our Fair city and I thought I'd see what kind of interest I could generate for it in the forums here. If enough people were interested, We'd consider hosting the event. I've been thinking about a poker-run / Ralley type of event. Here's my ideas: 1. We could possibly hold it at a local resturaunt. (we have two fine Mexican ones here in town or we could go for a fast food establishement of which we have 2 of as well) 2. A Poker-run, There are many caches around town that we could set a time limit on and see who can hit the most in a specified period of time. The most caches hit would win a small prize. 3. A Trash-out rally where the most trash brought in (by weight or by item say the most glass, paper or aluminum would win a small prize) 4. A furthest traveled prize for the Geo-cacher who travels the greatest distance to attend. 5. I think I could generate some interest in the local newspaper to cover the event, and maybe even get the local Chamber of commerce to subsidize. (maybe) I know there are a lot of folks who come here on the weekends to off-road and such and many geocache too. We are cosidering Memorial day weekend as a potential event date because it is usually a very good travel weekend for a lot of cachers. Let me know what you think! We're game to help set it up. We are open for other suggestions and ideas too. Lastly, We are in no way interested in profiting from this at all, just a way to meet some fellow geocachers and have some fun. If interested reply here or contact Desert Big foot directly via E-mail: res1gdea@verizon.net and if there appears to be enough interest. I'll post an event on the geocache website. Regards, Desert Big Foot & Friends
  6. There are literally tons of caches on the way to LV if you are traveling from LA. Start inside California at Zyzzx road and you'll hit tons and tons on the way to LV not to mention all the cool ones in LV. a good 90% on the way are less than 2 miles from the I-15. I've bagged quite a few this way. Caches that come to mind... Avation Facination, Welcome to Nevada (Nevada Welcome Center @ Primm), the 500 club, Pop's Oasis, Stinkin heat, Mikey likes it, Hot wheel heaven, Some like it hot, Running Rabbit, Zzyzx, Would you like to buy a vowel?, The last corral, Avacados at Yates well, Mischief Maker at the station, are some quick finds on the way up there.
  7. I bought my Mag Plat a year ago, supposedly had a $75. rebate when purchased with mapsend topo. Bought the item, did the paperwork, sent it off. Never got the rebate. Realized this around late Oct. 03, Called them up complained loudly but politly, Ms. Pedroza looked it up and said they didn't have a good address. I gave her the address and followed it up with an e-mail, got my check 2 weeks later.
  8. I've had mine for a year and I love it! I originally purchaed it for TOPO maps and such for when I'm out with my 4WD. But a friend turned me onto Geogaching and the whole family is hooked. I got mine from Harmony computers and I bought the TOPO map SW with it. Got a $75. rebate from Mag to sweeten the deal. No regrets here at all.
  9. Greetings, My son & I enjoy Geocaching. I have a small dilemma, I'll be in Vegas on business next week, (And I'm usually insanely busy with boring meetings and such) I'd like to know if anyone could provide info on some quick caches Near the Orleans or Sunset (near the strip) So that I won't disapoint my son. Micros, multi's, and virtuals are cool but my son has a bunch of cool items to trade (not burger joint toys either ) any help in me quick hitting a couple caches would just make my son's day. We've hit all the ones previously @ Stateline & Jean. Thanks in advance for all replies. Reply to res1gdea@verizon.net As I don't usually have access to the forums when I'm traveling. Desert Big Foot & Son
