  1. This was spotted as I was out hiding a cache yesterday. I thought it was kinda, sorta cool.
  2. Not very well. Thanks for trying though.
  3. But negativity is implied in the statement. TL- Half full or half empty? Depends on whether I'm pouring or drinking! Nothing implied; they are just words, read them as they are written. It's not rocket science.
  4. Although I'll be accused of going off topic, your post got me to thinking about the evil that is poison ivy. When I was a wee lad, 12 or so years old, I spent a week in isolation at the hospital with this very weird growth all over my legs. Turns out I'm a tad allergic to the ivy. I've since moved out west (where they appreciate me) and have seldom had contact with the beast. No point really, but heck, we chase tupperware.
  5. Ehh... Does not compute! We ARE geocaching and we ARE recognizing, in this thread, the one person who made a great contribution to getting us to all the places and activities mikedx listed and more. There are many people to thank. Volunteer approvers, gc.com staff, new friends we've met, property owners who get a kick out of geocachers, park managers who are allowing this experiment to unfold in their territory, help we get from other cachers, and more. But this thread chose to recognize one person. The poster listed several experiences they have had over the past two years and drew a contrast with the previous 30+ years. They are expressing thanks for that change. We (Team Sagefox) have made the same comments to ourselves, almost word for word that mikedx has voiced here. Feel free to start a new topic about geocachers creating a god from a mere mortal if you want or a topic thanking cache placers but why introduce a negative comment into this perfectly benign recognition? There is absolutely nothing negative about my statement. Reread it a few times if you must and then get back to me. Thanks.
  6. He saw an opportunity to make money and he ran with it. No need to deify him. So many sheep, so few shepherds.
  7. Why not thank the many thousands of people who have gone out and hidden the caches that you like to seek? As much as I admire Jeremy for the effort he's put into this website; he is not geocaching. We are.
  8. and hit that pesky little "Caps Lock" key first
  9. Lots of caches get approved. As to who "gives a flip"? Well, I do or I wouldn't have asked. Apparently you do too or you wouldn't have posted your opinion. And no, I'm not going to bother explaining to you why I posed the initial question. It is possible to scroll by those topics that you don't care about.
  10. The big "mine" beside the caches I own works for me. That and the fact I'm not totally senile.
  11. I too like the idea, and the creativity behind the idea, but I won't be opening up any containers and taking a whiff any time soon. Even if they do have an official geccaching.com sticker on them.
  12. I've been to Hazelton. Trust me, he'll find his way back to the States PDQ.
  13. You have to think about how you place it in the freezer. Try making it look like a flattened out "U" shape, with the drinking tube empty and pointing up. Same with the hole for filling- you don't want to block it with ice either.
  14. You are? Cool. Do we still let Criminal's north of 49?
  15. I've yet to have any problem with mine. Just don't fill it so full that the expanding water ruptures it.
  16. They're part of a puzzle. You have to identify the spice to get the clues for the next stage.
  17. Try filling the bladder 1/4 of the way and put it in the freezer overnight. Take it out when you're ready to go, fill it up with water and it keeps cold without the freezer packs.
  18. From a cache description: "Continue a short distance to the signed trailhead where you will begin your search for four small plastic Nalgene bottles (about 2" long) with the familiar green Geocaching label, each filled with a common cooking spice."

    Cache Submission

I've seen that; my latest is listed there, I'm just not sure if that means it's in the queue or not, because it was also listed there before I ticked the "make cache active" box. I miss the email notification.

    Cache Submission

I submitted another cache for approval and I didn't get the usual automated email telling me that it's been placed in the queue. Is this something new or have I done something wrong? For this cache I didn't tick the "cache is active" box for a few days until I was certain of the coordinates. The page had a line stating that no reviewer was going to see the listing until I made it active, which is pretty much what I expected. However, I have since made it active, the red warning disappeared (now it just states that it hasn't been approved yet- which is fine, I'm in no hurry) but I didn't get the expected email like I did for my other caches so I don't know if it's in limbo somewhere or ...? Hope this makes sense, it's been one of those days.
  22. What about those cachers who have paid? You going to donate something to help them?
  23. It doesn't seem to matter what day of the week it is now; the server craps more often than my dog. I was submitting a new cache last time it crapped; I now have visions of a whack of cachers looking for a cache that is either behind a stump or halfway to the moon.
