  1. tiger, Quite a few receivers operate in that manner. You have to be moving for the compass to point in the correct direction. We have a Garmin 76 CSx and the compass does not do that. Although pricey, these units do not switch directions when you stop moving. I'm sure someone else can explain the details of why they operate that way. Sorry, I am a newie too and am learning also.   2. We bought one we thought would give us all capabities...geocaching, boating, and maps. I love our Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. I think it's all what you want it to do for yourself. Tell ya the truth, we are newbies too! So I am certainly not qualified to answer any questions. Happy Hunting though! Spacecadetz
  3. Last night I saw a great post of the two Garmin's side by side...I really can't find it now. Could anyone please direct me? It was about the 60 versus the 76. BTW...can you tell I am a Newbie! How the heck will I find a cache if I can't fine a post. LOL! My unit is a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. Would really appreciate the help. Spacecadetz
