  1. When i load the gpx/memorymap files on the PDA I aslo add the caches to tomtom as POIs - the tomtom then "mooos" at me when we are within 100yard of a cache
  2. I used the proximity alarm in Memory Map, for the first time a few weeks ago. I set it for 50 feet and sure enough as the distance came down, it duely sounded, And I couldnt for the life in me work out how to stop it, so as I was franticaly tapping the screen of my PDA in an effort to silence it, my caching partner found the cache, signed the log and then came to see what I was doing....................... Needless to say , I WON'T be using it again
  3. There are 2 " Z" caches within 8 miles of my home. BUT as they're in Leeds, West Yorshire, UK, probably not much use to you
  4. The cache owners responce (in my opinion) says to me that he/she isn't prepared to maintaiin his/her cache and as such the cache should be archived
  5. OK .. I can see how a rusty nail would and should be classed as trash, But can someone PLEASE explain to to me how it could ever be classed as dangerous ??????
  6. export as a GPX/LOC file and onto PDA....then import into cachemate....think that is how I do it, but still learning so I am sure there is someone more clued up about it than me To get all the info into Cachemate/beeline/anything else you would need a GPX file ans as far as I know you can't get those as a basic member, not even one at atime from the cache page, you need to get your hand in your pocket and get a premium membership, well worth the money (and it's not much) offset that against the cost of paper and ink and you'll be showing a profit before too long
  7. I used my old etrex for in car navigation for many years, only if i was going to a town or city i had never been before, I'd put in the co-ord for my destination, hit "go to" and follow the arrow. No turn by turn directions 'cos there were no maps, just the arrow, but it used to get me there, but left all the decisions to me, a much better driving experience then listening to tomtom i thought. but i must say i now have tomtom on the PDA
  8. I too have had this problem with clouds log in page, (using an ipaq4150) if i "highlight all text" on that page the "get online" button is there but not clickable, i have no idea how to solve this, so any sugestions will be aprecieated
  9. Hmmm, odd - so, here is what I did: Tuesday night, I "created a new query" and submitted it. It never went to the 'run' queue, waited and waited (my first one, so I wasn't quite sure what was supposed to happen). Wed night, I double checked of all my criteria (I had selected a few things - but most 'importantly' here were the "I have not found" and "I am not the owner" boxes). I also ran 'preview query' to make sure of the results I 'should' be getting. Still, no file to be downloaded, so I chose the 'add to queue' box. I had a file scheduled and "delivered" within two minutes - but it was the file that just had 'my' things added. So, can you tell me what I should have done instead? THANKS SO MUCH! The "add to queue" is only for generating a gpx file containing your finds, As others have said, the most common mistake is to not check the day/s you want the pq to run I'm sure you'll get the hang of it all ,, i must admit, it took me some time
  10. The only thing a GC name change doesn't change is the "hidden by" on your hides, but as you don't have any that won't be a worry for you, I have always ended my online logs with "thanks ....... Smurf" well ... since i have been called smurf ,, all online logs from before my name change read .... found by Smurf and end with "thanks ... LWB3" think i might have confused myself here ,
  11. Click here Change username
  12. on the PQ page there is a button "add to queue" hitting that will generate a gpx file for download that contains ALL your finds
  13. That can't be right, as I got 2 pocket queries in my e-mail yesterday. PQs containing 500 caches or less are sent via email (zipped attachment) as thay always have PQs containing 501 to 1000 caches are listed for download only (as described in a previous post) "my finds" PQs are also for download only
  14. 7. All physical stages or caches have to be over 1/10th of a mile from other caches. Not the case for stages of the same multi cache. Key word "physical", if there is a container the 0.1 rule aplies
  15. Nice to see the whole family getting involved
  16. I have used Tom Tom for urban caching, great for finding those micros in a strange town, just input the po-ords, set it on pedestran mode and off you go
  17. I'm REALLY trying here, but i just can't figure out who would be bothered by this.
  18. its inside a Red Phone Box - theres not many places to hide !! also the clue reach up to the lip of the roof with your right arm gives it away a little And we assume you have explicit permission from BT to hide inside their property ?
  19. I thought we were mad attending 3 10 year events this last weekend , but this fellow did 10,
  20. I would say .. if it will physicaly fit in the container , then yes ,
  21. Most definitely not a troll. He's from The UK, most likely Wales. It's not like there's a micro(s) under a lampskirt in every shopping center in town. Nor is there a rural road where they're hidden every 529 feet. I would have to say cut the poor guy some slack. FYI ..... here in the UK ,, Lamp posts don't have skirts - well none that i have ever seen anyway Firstly you lot are very weird assuming that iam from Wales. Your wrong!!! Secondly, why did you all just waffle on in sarcasm, about nothing? Thirdly, Smurf sounds like the smartest on here! Iam not a n00b! I have done caches in wales because i go to stay at my uncles evry now and again. And WTF?? is troll? Has anyone got any straight suggestions? Lastly, the caching container is a mini capsule with waterproof seal. Thanks I'm just going to read that one bit .......... Thank you
