  1. I have always been under the impression that one of the aims of geocaching was to bring people to interesting locations (no pun intended), As i read the original post in this thread that was the COs intention, and try as i may i can not see how this could be reguarded as commercial.
  2. Surely the note on the cache page says all that needs to be said
  3. Here in the UK, petrol(gas) is currently £1.28/litre ( Going on todays exchange rate of £1 = $1.60 That makes One US gallon (3.785 Litres) = $7.75 and one Imperial gallon (4.546 Litres) = an enormous $9.31 I'll swap you all day long and twice on Sundays ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BUT ,, the main complaint here is the fact that the petrol(gas)is £0.32/litre the rest is TAX
  4. "The Woolpack" is a fictional pub... In real life the pub is called by another name. Yep I know that, have been in it many times. The Pub is real, the name is fictional. It is called the Commercial, as mentioned in the cache blurb. Sorry but you're both wrong - The pub was called "The Commercial" and the signage changed for filming (every day) So in the end they changed the name to "The Woolpack" fo the benifit of the set dressers and the tourists, It's well over 10 years now since they stopped using the village for filming, but the name remains.
  5. I would say that the first things you would need is conciderably more than 2 months membership and eleven finds
  6. nope ... I'm right there with you,,, Sometimes there is nothing to say
  7. Are you searching by postcode ? I have NEVER had any success using a post code as a search centre, try searching using co-ords (just a generic lat and long in the area you are searching)
  8. Geotees have alsorts of stuff, cammo bags, snails, hollow bolt etc etc And they are an authorised GC seller so they also stock all the "propper" stuff too
  9. Looking at your profile ..... zero finds ..... maybe you should re-update your note back to a find
  10. Happen to have a GC-number? First stage - - - http://coord.info/GC123EE BUT because it has been done before doesn't mean it will be allowed again
  11. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! The headline co-ords for a MULTI should be the starting point. Mark I stand corrected, I shouldn't have included multis in that
  12. I believe at the moment it might just be based on an "oversimplification" of the guidelines, projecting the large paragraph about commercial caches to "caches must not cost money" ... I've already explained the whole concept of the cache, and my understanding of the rules to the reviewer ... got to see how that goes ... I reckon with such a new kind of cache idea, I was bound for some discussion anyway Apart from that, I must say our local reviewers are pretty reasonable, so I hope this whole issue can be resolved soon There was a similar cache in the UK called Stop the Clock that relied on a similar method - but unfortunately has been archived for a little while now There is a multi in my area themed on Charlies Angels one stage of that involves phoning "Charlie" for instructions ,, It's briliant and I have never heard a bad word about it.
  13. There are a few exceptions that most folks agree to. Attending a recurring event. Some of the old locationless caches. Finding moving caches after they have moved again. This one may be pushing it a bit. I mean a moving virtual? I know... it's been pushing the Boundary of Geocaching Acceptance for many, many years now. Just when you think you've forgotten all about it it sneaks up onto a high hill near to an event and there you are... Once again you have to make the choice - "Do I go up there, get the numbers and log another Found? Or shall I put it behind me, ignore it, safe in the knowledge that it will soon move off to another part of the country and to annoy some other cacher who's try to clear his nearest-to-home radius?" We are made of stern stuff and I'm pretty sure we've only logged it once but have added notes on other occasions when it's been in our area. MrsB As a slightly totaly off topic aside ,...... If When we get souveniers here in the UK, and they are done by county, anyone who has logged YOSM will suddenly get a LOT of useless pretty little pictues on their profile
  14. Not knowing anything about this particular "quest" ,,, I would assume that the published co-ords are just that, a set of co-ords which have no relation to the actual location, as with any puzzle/multi.
  15. This reminds of a cacher local to me, who located the final of a puzzle cache and on arriving at GZ realised that there was no way he was going to reach it (He's about 5'2") He phoned me (last finder) to confirm he was loooking in the right place - he was. High on a wall top right next to a road. I must add here that although the cache sounds bad/dangerous, it's a lovely spot on the moors and IS SAFE (for a tall person) Next day he went back armed with Hi-Vis jacket, hard hat, ladder and some traffic cones....Coned off part of the road so he could go up the ladder without getting hit by traffic, retrieved the cache, signed the log, packed it all away and went on his way I drive past this spot quite often and always have a chuckle thinking about this
  16. I have come up with a good one, but it SO isn't forum friendly
  17. A "needs maintainance" log goes to the cache owner only A "Needs archive" log goes to the cache owner and a reviewer
  18. I can confirm that Geohatter took a 2 hour break this afternoon to go to asda
  19. A simple PQ to only include only caches with the "needs maintainance" This does not involve or notify a reviewer in any way. (so says the reviewer who is sitting about 10 feet from me publishing caches as I type)
  20. A quick search on GC.com came up with 455 caches within a 25 mile radius of my home co-ords here in West Yorkshire that have the "Needs Maintainance" attribute on them...... I cant imagine how many there would be in the whole country (or the world). Come on people, sort 'em out..... And if you have already sorted out any issues with your caches, removing the attribute can only be done by posting an "owner maintainance" log on the cache page
  21. Maybe I'm missing something here ------- but If your aim is to complete a series - how is any part of the journey "out of your way" The series (and the journey around it) IS the way surely
  22. I too would recomend a bluetooth gps rather than a "dongle", if only to avoid "sticky out bits" which could/would be easily damaged by a trip, a stray tree branch etc.
