  1. This one almost had me in therapy, never did find it before it was archived.
  2. I use this macro to load both my nuvi 780 and my Colorado 400t. Is it possible to just create the GPX files once and load them to both units?
  3. Now wait a minute I thought nobody listens to me
  4. I have no problem doing that. Even with heavy gloves.
  5. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Someone else pointed this out to me and now Raine is looking into it. Hopefully we'll be able to isolate the problem and fix quickly. Edit: Turns out this occurs because we have restricted the use of the <div> tag in text boxes in this release. People were using this tag to obscure areas of the profile which were not meant to be obscured. It's unfortunate that some user's decision to exploit HTML have affected honest users, but that is something we could not allow. I'm afraid those elements of your profile which used this tag will have to be reformed. So why punish those of us who are doing it right. Warn the ones who were abusing the <div> tags (whatever the heck they are) once and after that ban them. Sounds like a very simple fix to me. Oh and I forgot to add how about the email notifications? Are they fixed yet? How about adding a check box on the map page to hide disabled caches like the found and hidden ones? How about not having the map pages load caches until I click a button after I get the map centered just where I want them? Sounds like a lot of paying customers are not very happy with with these changes. How about giving the customers what they want?

  8. Yep I'm having the same problem. One got published sometime today and I just happened to stumble across it after work. I got lucky and got the FTF on it.
  9. My Colorado runnig 2.9 has just started locking up on me. Maybe 3 or four times in the last 10 times that I have used it. It has also started, about the same time, acting like the procssor is overloaded and not updating the direction to the cache or the distance to the cache then all the sudden it will work perfect. I'm going to give it one more go this weekend and if it still is acting funky I'll call Garmin next week.
  10. I do it all the time and are two ways to do it that I use. First you can hit the GPS send button on a cache page. By doing it this way you will have a closed treasure box icon on the map and the tag will show the GC number. The second way that I use is in GSAK. Pick a cache in the area that you a going to and set that cache as the center point. Then go to File>export>mapsource file, (assuming you have map source installed one your computer). In the dialog box that pops up set the number of caches to export to 490 and any of the other setting yoou wish to change. Then click on generate. GSAK will open map source and export 490 caches tehm you cacn use the routing tool to create a route to the ones that you want, (only works on the 7xx series and above). Hook up your nuvi and click the send to GPS button. If you send routes you will have to go to tools>my data>import route from file. In the my data folder you will also have options where you can delete routes and favorites. You will want to clear both as the nuvi can only handle 500 waypoints, or favorites as they are called on the nuvi. By doing it the GSAK way you will see the closed treasure box icon on the screen and the tag can have the smart name or the GC number.
  11. This has been asked for many times in the past. The normal replies are "you can use pocket queries to filter them out" and "if you see the disabled caches on the map you will be more inclined keep at the owners to get them fixed". I for one think it's a great idea and one that I have asked for before. More than once I have planned a caching trip and missed out on a cache, or two, because it was hiding behind a diabled one on the maps. That really upset me because they were ones that really sounded interesting and I wanted to hit them.
  12. I bought a Garmin 2610 to mount on my Gold Wing. One day I was at the gun club showing it to a friend and he asked if I had heard about geocaching and proceeded to tell me about it. Shortly after that I looked up the site, signed up, and looked for a cache that I could ride to on the wing. I rode to it, parked the wing and started snooping around the gaurdrail until I found the cache. Went home and ordered a GPSr and the rest is history.
  13. I have two labs. I haven't trained them to find caches but they have sniffed out a few and they are just hilairious to watch. Just last weekend I was climbing up an icy hill, slipped a bit and muttered a few words. The yellow one, who is the youngest, came flying over the top of the hill, hit the ice and started sliding right at me. The look on his face and watching try to stop was priceless. This picture was taken after a 3/4 mi hike through the woods.
  14. I wouldn't want anything much smaller than my CO. I had one of those dinky cell phones that were out several years ago and I hated it. I need something that I get ahold of. It appears that you are wrong on the display but the rest is just a difference in opinion. Just like hybrid vs SUV, Ford vs Chevy, etc.
  15. ...I betcha this is about Childhood Nostalgia TB or Fluffy TB! Nope. It's about my Iowa coin that he's had since August. He won't reply to emails and won't drop it in a cache to get it moving again.
  16. From the Utah area with a screen name of geogleas and the first name on Steve?
  17. Yes.............. I do cache with a Garmin 60Cx............ but the screen is so small for using when I'm driving, thought the NUVI would be the way to go for getting me near the cache , then I would switch over to the hand held for searching for the cache............... and I just found out you can load ...........POI from GSAK so that is even a bigger plus when I,m driving around caching .........Woooo Hooo ! I have been using a Garmin 2610 and just bought a nuvi 780. Both work great. I got the 780 becauseI can make routes in mapsource and transfer them to the nuvi. With the lower numbered ones I don't think that you can do that. You have to pull up the favorites and choose which cache you would like to go to.
  18. I tried to do most of my caching on my Goldwing over the summer when the prices were high. Still over $20 to fill it was outragous. Now that winter has set in the bike in the garage and I'm using the truck so with the cheaper prices it all works out to about the same cost per mile.
  19. I have an 02 Honda Goldwing with a Garmin 2610 intergrated into the intercom. I actually found my first cache with just the GPSr on the bike, a gaurdrail cache. I plan out a 200 mi or so route, mostly small towns and recreation areas. I also just purchased a Diamondback Wildwood mountain bike for the bike trail caches. Haven't had much of a chance to use it because I got it just before cold weather hit but caching on it is a hoot.
  20. ...the first ornament on the Christmas tree is a bison tube.
  21. I really don't see that an OR is that much better. I have a CO and it's rock solid. I wouldn't want the touch screen. It works great when it's clean, warm and calibrated. What do you do when it gets dirty? Cold? Every touch screen that I have been around acts real funky with dirt on it and when it's cold it's just a crap shoot as to wether it's going to work or not. Some of the complaints about the CO are just for features that people want and Garmin hasn't put them on the CO.
