I've done the same thing, walking in circles. Now, when I'm within 100ft or so, I'll stop and let the GPS settle in while I'm looking ahead for the spot. Like in the movie Starwars " may the force be with you".

I am on call this weekend at work, so there won't be much time for fun. Tried to sneak one in on the way home from work but got called back in, double time is hard to turn down. Maybe next weekend will be better.

I'm a newbie and proud of it! My Mer. Plat. tracks looks like that but I refuse to clear it until its full. I'm going to roll the tripometer over too, so far I have 4317 miles on it. I have gone up a notch though, I finally have an avatar.

To blindly ban all virtual vacation caches is wrong. All regular caches are banned in Nat. parks and State parks are going that way. Virtuals are all that is left. As far as maintaince goes, I think most virtuals are maintaince free. If it does require maint., the cacher should be prepared to do so. I don't think you would be taking a local cacher's spot, if they liked the spot they would have one there already.Some said they are lame, don't hunt them, besides, there's alot of lame 1/1 regular caches. What's to be banned next,Lame 1/1 reg. caches? Just some wandering thoughts.

I have the same problems also, mostly on weekends when the site is overloaded.

I think some of the sniping is from frustrated Garmin users who are losing their sat. signal under tree cover and taking it out on this forum.

I am new to geocaching (5 months 30 finds) this is the first site I heard about and use. I think it is great. Recently I heard of a different site and tried to post it to this topic (list of competitors) but it was intercepted by the powers that be and not posted, still waiting for a explanation. Maybe thats why others are tiptoeing around the question of listing competitors. Maybe they are afraid of a little competiton. I bought my Platinum 3/24/03, promptly sent in rebate (after I made copies of everything). Called Wheresmyrebate last week of May, was told check would be mailed 6/24/03. I hope it arrives.

I got my Platinum at THEGPSSTORE.COM. Mine was a package deal-GPSr,32meg card,PC cable and Mapsend Streets and Destinations for $399. plus $75. rebate from Magellan for a total of $324. If you plan on making large maps I recommend getting a card reader/writer.

My unit came with 3.12 installed and a CD to upgrade to 4.06 I now use 4.06 with no problems. Here's a list of up grades for 4.06 1. supports Mapsend World Wide and Blue Nav. 2.Added features to show object description on map or database. 3. Fix problem with waypoints projection when distances less than 0.10miles/nm/km 12. I agree with Spyder40. Strong Engineering is the place to go. They are Geo-cachers too.
