Does anybody have one of these formatted that I can use? You can either email it to me at rostmiNOSPAM@yahoo.com (remove the NOSPAM for those who don't know), or tell me how to format the existing one?

    Many thanks!

I have made one and sent you a copy, please let me know if you got it, and if this will work for you.

Also take into consideration that not all geocachers are young. My husband takes 8 heart meds a day, and I have asthma. We pick easier ones because they are what we can do. Does that make us lazy ? No, we geocache so we wont get lazier. I would much rather stay in cool house then hunt easy ones on a 100 degree day, puffing all the way uphill, but we both realize we need the exercise, no matter how easy someone else thinks it is.

My first caches when I visited Arizona were done with pnuemonia which I did'nt know I had at the time, but I was so excited to be geocaching it didnt matter

(until the doctor got ahold of me !)

I can understand being frustrated that the higher difficulty ones don't get visited as often, but its a matter of preference and physical ability.

I also perfer the virtuals were you can learn some history along with the fresh air icon_cool.gif

So please don't think all people who do 1/1 are just plain lazy, that is an unwise, unfair statement.

Thanks for the tip on packing tape. I did'nt want to go to the expense of laminating. We are getting three ammo cans ready to go, and I want to be able to include these labels (on the inside lid) in case they are found.

I simply used you version, and copied to word in a two column form. Worked well, and you can play around with the size. Thanks for posting it!

I have made one up using Mark 42's form, but arranged side by side on paper (8x11 so you get two labels) that will fit the lid of an ammo box. I don't know how to link it to this site, but would be glad to email it to someone who does know how.

Also if you can't laminate it, you can iron the paper between two pieces of wax paper. This affords a little bit of protection. Just make sure you use the waxed side away from iron icon_biggrin.gif

When we started goecaching, we encountered two knives within the first six caches. As they were hidden if fairly accessible (to children) places we traded for them.

Common sense has a lot to do with this subject, but seeing as not everyone has it, better to stick to rules then have someone hurt.

I for one would not like to find out that a child had come across a cache at which I had left a knife and did damage to themselves.

I believe the parents should be the ones to supply the knife and supervision of the learning of safety. Given that, I would think that if you were bent on placing knives it should be in the higher difficulty caches where children are not likely to stumble on them.

All was not lost tho, because my husband can always use knives in the oil field, and the 1 inch blade one he has, he uses to clean his finger nails (he likes to live dangerously !)

Anyway I can understand the reason the rule was put in place...it would be way to sad if GC was hit by a law suit, or had to start providing themselves insurance against claims. This would be costly, either in having to purchase coverage, or the possibility of the end of sites such as this.

On second thought if my husband wanted to live dangerously, HE could give ME the knives.

While my husband and I are not hard core cachers,(we are both in our mid fifties and tend towards the easier caches and virtuals) we find more pleasure out of leaving treasures then taking them. We are in this to see the country, share a picnic lunch and laugh and talk while enjoying this sport. I think if you take pleasure in what you leave then other will too.

Try E-bay and type hiking stick into the search window. You can get a pick of many different woods, and other materials either raw to decorate yourself or finished for you at a reasonable price.
