  1. Hi, I've had fantastic success with the Nuvi. Here's a tutorial for the 7xx series, the 3xx series is coming soon, but all nuvis are so similar that the gist is the same for all. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=190042
  2. Actually I've discovered that at least on MY nuvi this problem is even more severe. If I have ANY type of alert set, eg speed/prox custom POI and the alert appears on the screen whilst driving, if I attempt to route to a new destination the nuvi will crash. Eg. Say you have a standard alert for starbucks, set at say 800metres. Set up a simulation that will drive pass that starbucks and set off the Alert. When you get the two "dings" and the alert bar on the screen, quickly go into the nuvi, WHERE TO -> and pick ANYTHING. Hit GO and set as new destination. If you did that before the alert bar is off the screen the nuvi 760 crashes! Would someone else confirm this for me. I can repeat it every single time. Nuvi 760, firmware 2.70. Happens for Tourguide alerts, custom alerts etc. Thank you.
  3. It's untested on the 6xx series. Wait until I get a chance to post the tutorial for the Nuvi 3xx series (hopefully tomorrow) because my gut tells me the macro required to do this will be more like the 3 series than the 7 series. You can be the guinea pig.
  4. Absolutely. In fact of course that is exactly what I have. For a beginner tutorial, I did decide to leave those sorts of details out, but as the topic progresses, I'm sure I'll attach those items in. I myself have just over 3100 caches on my nuvi, I've alot of searching to do....
  5. The tutorial/macro that was originally here has now been moved. Due to the fast changing nature of this project, it was easier to set up a new website to keep everything up-to-date and provide an easy location for the user to find everything they need in one location. Please visit the website linked below to continue. 6. Do any other 7 series Nuvi owners suffer from this problem? If so, would you perhaps copy and paste this email to garmin to help us get it sorted. Thanks! The Garmin support page for sending this is: ->HERE<- Also drop a line here if you have any suggests as to a fix incase Garmin don't do it for us!
  7. Oh am I so glad to see someone else have this problem - it's driving me nuts. Nuvi 760 Yes indeed if you switch the thing on and you have TOURGUIDE POI that is within your proximity it will indeed crash as soon as you try to look at the map. Solution? It's ugly, I've found the only way to beat the nuvi, is to switch it on, (type in your pin if set) click agree and click View Map as fast as your fingers will allow before it has time to calculate that you are within the distance to a TOURGUIDE POI. Then you can normally use the nuvi as normal. It does still freeze very regularly. I'm just about to email Garmin tech Support about this. Hopefully we can get it fixed.
  8. Yeah it's just rounding off the last digit. If you change your gamin to show decimal degrees, then go and take a look at the "loc" file you can download (using a text editor) you'll see that the coordinates there are 6 decimal places. Therefore when the garmin is coverting the 6 decimal place decimal degrees value to degrees/minute format as per the standard view on the website there is a small discrepency. If we could change the website to allow us to chose what format of degrees was displayed, we could use the decimal degrees for both the website AND garmin and I think they'd both be exactly the same.
