  1. Doh, sorry for the double post guys, I can't delete this post What I was trying to say next is to look at the How Do I... Forums as they have some really good discussion on how to find caches and what types of containers to use.
  2. I agree with what everyone has said above. I am getting very much into Geocaching but placing a cache should be a long term commitment. You are responsible for maintaining it as the Cache Owner (CO). The Geocaching website recommends you find a bunch of different caches in a bunch of different areas to get a better idea of what you like and dislike and what works and what does not work. I personally would like to do a cache one day myself but I am going to wait until I have about 100 or so finds before doing one. A good place to start is the Hiding Your First Geocache
  3. No matter what I try on the Garmin Free Trail page the "Detecting Plugin" just keeps on spinning. It works just fine when I use the "send to GPS" function on any number of caches I sent to my Garmin GPSr. Any ideas?
  4. If you don't go philosophical about events and EarthCaches (evt. WebCams), you're effectively suggesting there are very few people who have not cheated? Then you are admitting that it is cheating? Everyone plays their own way, but if I do not touch either the cache itself, or the log at the cache site, I haven't found it. I completely agree. I have touched and taken a picture of every single one of my 7 finds, haha!
  5. I am glad you guys brought these to my attention being new to all this. So I now where to start now and did some google searches: Am I on track?
  6. Stalkers only go after those who do something wrong? You key in on stalker I key in on court case I did not mean anything mean by my statement at all but I can see how it could be seen as that, so I am sorry. All I am saying is while Geocaching is fun if it's an issue for an upcoming court case then I would assume they are using it to shine a negative light on him, so why do it? I would assume he is doing something wrong if it is going to hold up in court. That's all. Just suck it up and wait until after the court date. If he is just worried about the stalked part and not so much about the court date, that is simple, log them when you get home and not as an on the spot log. That why you are home already, or like others said, just keep track of your logs and log them months upon months later. +1, truly awesome!
  7. If you don't do anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about
  8. Oddly, that list is missing GC184 State Game Lands #109 hidden 09/21/2000. And my find on a June 2000 hide: GCBBA Geocache--Canada's 1st geocache Hmmm why would a July 2000 list have a June or September 2000 hide on it? lol.
  9. This sounds familiar, as I'm pretty sure I've read this same problem before. You could always try logging out and logging back in, that sometimes fixes problem, though I don't know if that fixes this one. This ↑↑↑↑↑ Logging out then back in allows everything to reset. And then log out, and back in to the FORUMS, you should then show as a Premium Member here as well! AWESOME! I was wondering why I was still a normal member Thanks!
  10. This sounds familiar, as I'm pretty sure I've read this same problem before. You could always try logging out and logging back in, that sometimes fixes problem, though I don't know if that fixes this one. This fixed the issue! It worked like a charm. Thanks! Congratulations on your new GPS... Linky > geocaching.com/garmin/freetrial.aspx OK, you've probably paid, but it will extend your membership by 30 days! Thanks for this as well! I did already pay but an extra 30 will be welcomed!
  11. Thanks for the help you two. I am on a trip out of town but I will order it so I have it when I get back. I also signed up for a premium membership at this site. I tried to create a pocket query but it keeps on saying I need to agree to the user agreement before I can do anything. I click on it, I read the thing, click the checkbox, click I agree, it says it is successful, I go back to create a pocket query and it still says I need to agree to the terms. Any help on this?
  12. Hello everyone! I am new to Geocaching (found 4 so far) and I am getting tired of my phone (battery dies and is about 80 to 150 feet off target). I have spent a good amount of time reading about GPS devices and I am thinking about getting the Garmin Oregon 650 3-Inch Worldwide Handheld. So while reading about this device I realize that this device uses another Geo site called OpenCaching.com which now has me a little confused. I would like to stay with Geocaching.com, will this GPS work with your site? And by that I mean can I download GeoCaches from Geocaching.com to this GPS and then can I do logs (with notes, pictures, etc) or does that feature set only works on OpenCache.com? I saw a lot of great features on the GPS that I liked but I want to make sure it is fully compatible with this site. Thanks!
