  1. I have submitted my first event and it got bounced back for mentioning the cruise line I am on I have amended and resubmitted. Colleda that is what I love about geocaching, you meet the nicest people near and far.
  2. You may get a better response by posting on Cruise Critic Roll Call. Also check you ports of call to see if any fellow cruisers have set up Events. Hi Colleda Done the Roll Call already, nobody set up events yet as the 3 month rule still applies , thanks. M
  3. Hi Cachers My family and I will be onboard the P&O Azura for the Caribbean voyage from 26th December, anyone else on this sailing? If so and you would like some caching company, try for some finds together and trade trackable do get in touch. Happy Caching, M0zez
  4. Thanks cachers, My emails were not rude or offensive, and at a max of 4 emails sent I don’t think can be considered harassment I will certainly try converting to French and offering to pay for postage, the TB's are very precious to us, we hope to present the TB's, logs and pictures in a presentation to a family member once they have returned home. It is very frustrating that they are so close yet so far! M0zez
  5. All you can do is wait. I'd suggest you don't send any more emails, or you may get a reply of Your TB is at the coordinates *Insert local rubbish dump* if you want them back. If you keep emailing, it can be classed as harassment, and end with you being banned... Great, I can get banned the cacher who holds onto a TB for 14 months just keeps sitting on it, way to go geocaching!
  6. Hi Forum A cacher in another EU country has had two of my TB's for 14 months (TB1CPAG and TB1CPBT), I have sent numerous emails to the cacher who has never responded, can anyone suggest what I can do to try and get the cacher to put them in a cache? Thanks, M0zez
  7. A new version of Groundspeaks iPhone application has been launched, update includes downloading PQ to app, choice of maps (open street or virtual earth), search trackables. It is an excellent update I am really impressed with the development of the app, keep up the good work Groundspeak.
  8. Hi Mel I am free most evenings this week, if you want Shirl and I can go with you for a quick tidy up and of course an opportunity to bag the cache and obtain a further hint on Woe . Let me know.
  9. I have had this same problem, after webresearch and contact with garmin I could not find any fix, my workaround was to use GPX exchange file, open in Mapsource and send to GPS. Good luck.
  10. I have read reviews of the 15 minute charger which were on the whole positive although 15 minutes was pushing it in most cases. I have not used this device so cannot give personal experience, although over the last 18 months I have been using rechargeable batteries in the form of NiMH ans Mah at 1800, 2100, 2450 and 2700. Initially the charge time is a few hours and the usage was more than charging time, however over a short period the charging became longer and the usage deteriorated and it became more of a chore to keep the batteries recharged. I have switched back to alkaline batteries for my model GPS. Got me to thinking, are there any GPSr that use Li-ion batteries? Given my usage on my digital camera at a low Mah the Li-ion battery seems to last an age.
  11. Love it, Cesar in leg warmers. Wendy I should draw the line at that , i'm not sure how i'd feel seen him in a coat as well.
  12. Surprisingly I found the update prior to receiving the email, I like the GPSr feature, in time i believe with user input it will be an invaluable resource.
  13. Chudley Cannons, actually, we triple checked and triangulated the museum coords, as written at the start of the cache page, "difficult rating reflects GPSr problematic reception due to tree and building cover", I believe we were thorough when checking the coords, and made it quite clear at the start of the cache page that coords will be difficult to obtain, therefore I find your comment annoying! Gees does every forum have to its (nothing better to do than slag someone else problem as silly/stupid), I have used these forums for nearly two years and it bugs the hell out of me this kind of forum abuse, GET A LIFE, PLAY THE GAME, CONTRIBUTE! Thanks to all who made constructive comments I put them to use and have had good communication with the reviewer, already I have received and am very please with the local responce to my home from home caches. M0zez
  14. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I have spoken with the reviewer and caches are now active.
  15. Thanks Blorenges for the suggestion I will give that a go.
  16. Hi I have published 3 caches in Hungary, when publishing the site says the reviewer should take 36 to 72 hours to activate the cache, it has been six days and the caches have not yet become active, no word from the reviewer on cache page or by email. It this typical? Any suggestions? Many thanks M0zez
  17. I have had to send a few reminders to some cachers, the longest a coin of mine had been held is approx 3 months. It can get a little frustrating, usually a polite email is enough to inspire the holder to move it on. If I have a coin or TB longer than the standard two weeks I will always try to get in touch with its owner, more often I hold onto them a little longer if I am going abroad, if the mission is to travel I always ask the owners permission. Seems some cachers are missing a little caching etiquette.
  18. Hi I am researching five caches for the greater Budapest area, however I do not speak good Hungarian, please if there are any Hungarian geocachers who can translate the cache page from English please can you email me. Many thanks M0zez
  19. Happy to report that I have received both of my missions and missions sent are received. Apologies for the lateness of my replies, a last minute trip to Budapest has ment I am not at home to take receipt of the coins but Shirl assures me they are both nice coins (thank you). I will upload pictures when I am back in the UK. Happy holidays to all. M0zez
  20. Hi McShug My experience is limited to the 60CSx and Colorado. This is what I like about them. I have been using the 60Csx for 18 months and the Colorado for six months. The 60Csx is excellent for wear and tear, mine has come out of my hand on more occasions than I can recall, sometimes pretty scary falls. The ruggedness of the camshell can take quite a beating, mine is worn in a number of places but still it feels like the unit can survive a good few more incidents. I have GB topo V2 and EU Navigator, the topo maps are 1:50,000 in detail and do not have every path (Ordnance Survey have maps at 1:25,000), 1:50,000 maps have in our experience worked for the better, in cases where the map did not have the detail for the area we were in, sometimes our wrong decisions on which route to take has made for some good fun. For the Colorado I can only manage a couple of good points, Integrated Groundspeak functions and Shaded relief maps. on the negative bulky, non rugged, BATTERY LIFE, very slow operating i.e. maps took ages to change when zooming or refreshing. I stopped using the Colorado after a couple of months occasionally taking it out in the hope it will just click with me, it doesn't so I have switched back to the 60CSx which still works as good as the day I got it. Anyone interested in the Colorado going cheap PM me []. Good luck choosing your next model, it can be a difficult decision giving the amount of time you will be spending with it. Anyone interested in the Colorado going cheap PM me [].
  21. Lots of interesting ideas, especially andynelaine and vw_keychain, thanks everybody
  22. Thanks guys, I have not come across either of those series, I will check them out.
  23. Hi I am in the process of setting a series of caches called Supermarket Sweep. My caching partner Shirl the Whirl a shopaholic suggested Supermarket Sweep as a series in the same vain as Sidetracked. We plan to place the caches within reasonable walking distance from major out of town supermarkets and retail parks. Is there anyone interested in helping us set initial caches in different areas around the country? PM me if interested and lets start planning for 09. M0zez
  24. Hi Recently I have noticed the GeoCaching Google Maps service is full of bugs, it only refreshes caches on the map approx 50% of the time, clicking on the cache icon produces the bubble even less and now where ever in the world I search the standard green park lake caches overlay on the map and not the caches for that area. Anyone else experiencing these or other problems? I may have to use Google Earth and the KML overlay.
  25. I have been using the iGeocacher by AyeFon which lets you download pocket queries to the device for local storage, currently I have 1000+ loaded on my iPhone. It has excellent interface and include the full cache information, hint and five logs, other features include sorting by caches nearest to your position, moving caches to separate database (useful to keep track of your finds). I had my first real test of it this weekend in Dublin and it performed very well, in addition to this I am also using iGCT toolkit.
