  1. If you do not want others to see that you logged a cache, then don't log it. Not to be sarcastic or anything, but online logging exists to show others your logs. No online log, you're all private. if you want private logs you should just keep an Excel file yourself of your caching. You will then be private.
  2. OK, a phone call to Trimble's customer service resolved the issue. They had me load a free trial application which finally started the OTA download. They then reset my account back to the annual that I paid for. Don't know why the original install instructions were not correct, but they got it working after all.
  3. I purchased Navigator about an hour and a half ago and can't get it to install. I clicked the OTA install, which I assume means over the air, but nothing ever happens. It keeps downloading some file to my desktop, but that's not exactly over the air. I'm totally lost and may cancel the purchase if it never downloads to my BlackBerry.
  4. Thanks Vinny! I didn't think you were; just wanted to be sure!
  5. The amazing thing is that this "non-event" thread is still active, and lots of posters are still squawking as if some fundamental right had been stolen from them. All of which goes to prove, in my mind, that the world is full of drama queens who do not have even one toe touching the ground, so far out of touch with reality are they. I hope quoting my post wasn't meant to imply that I am "squawking as if some fundamental right had been stolen from me." I think I was agreeing with what you're saying, that the original post was by a drama queen, and one who isn't even remotely affected by events in Ann Arbor, MI
  6. I read the original msg since I used to live in Ann Arbor. The poster lives over a thousand miles from Michigan, and according to the OP's cache map has never cached anywhere near there. There are lots of places in Ann Arbor to place a cache without being affected by the permit process. Many parks already request a permit anyway, so the announcement of a permit process in Ann Arbor isn't big news.
  7. Maybe the best approach is to drop it for awhile and then try again. Maybe a month or so from now go back to the EC, get the required picture, and log following the owner's requirements with no mention of the current events. Good luck!
  8. That sounds like a fun one to me. I'd like to try that one the next time we're down in Chattanooga. Can you post that cache's number? On the original subject, we also found a library cache once. You started at the given coordinates outside and followed compass direction instructions that led inside and to the shelf with the cache. It was a fun hunt.
  9. Legal issues? Are you kidding? On what basis are there legal issues? Please explain what law was broken.
  10. I'm puzzled about the part of the OP that says "many 2009 locations now listed." Their website shows only four locations for 2009.
  11. If a cache is blown up in the middle of a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
  12. Like apps for BlackBerries and other smart phones? Don't you just download them yourself to your phone?
  13. I don't think it would be in poor taste at all, as long as it is done in a respectful manner. There are historical sites everywhere that mark tragedies where people died. People looked for the site of the Titanic. Was that in poor taste? I think there's a marker at the Hindenburg site. People go to Ground Zero to see the site. There are countless examples of bringing people to these locations.
  14. I've been to that one twice. It's a great one! Swapped a handful of TBs there each time.
  15. Is it possible that the TextCalc app on your phone has nothing to do with the geocaching app? A quick Google search on TextCalc shows this:
  16. I clicked the link above and got a message saying "Sorry, the product was not found." Reading about that company on their site says that they only offer one product a day. The next day the product is no longer available and a new one is then offered.
  17. Can you explain your reasoning that a person with a greater number of higher-difficulty finds makes them "more into geocaching" than someone with fewer difficult finds?
  18. When someone is banned, like this guy was, does Groundspeak ban the account or the person. If the person is banned, as I would think it should be, then shouldn't any new accounts for the same person (verified by e-mail address or IP address) also be banned?
  19. It wasn't exactly a puzzle, but I once received a post card sent to me by a friend who didn't know my address so she wrote just my name and the city on the card. This was before the Internet (early 1980s) so she couldn't look up the address. I lived in a city with about 50,000 people, so I gave credit to the post office for figuring out where to deliver my postcard!
  20. How does one determine that a gopher no longer uses the hole?
  21. Try It's Not About the Numbers My profile page has a map from that site.
  22. There would just be more snow than in May. _______________________________ former Ann Arbor, MI resident
  23. Are they really that common? This is the first I have ever heard of phones that read bar codes.
  24. I saw something that said COOL, or Country of Origin Labeling, will be coming soon. That may put pressure on China and other countries with less stringent food processing standards to clean up their acts.
