  1. Thanks for the help on the publish question. Solved this problem. With regard to the finds, they are not Field Notes, I am showing a smiley on the cache map but it is completely missing from the profile log.
  2. Not sure if this is the proper forum but my finds are not registering. They are showing up on the cache logs page but not on my profile page. Any one else experiencing this problem? Also I have three hides that have not been published which were placed several days ago. Little help please, never had this problem before.
  3. 10/17/11- 100 finds in one vehicle, 2 adults, 4 kids, and signed every log with a pen. Started at 8:30 am, finished at 10:30 pm. Most were easy guard rail finds but we did not skip the difficult ones.
  4. Well I am happy to say that my Cache total will soon be accurate, I broke down and used a windows machine to download GSAK. Wow what a program! Still love my Mac and since I am now using geosphere with the iPhone I feel this problem will be rectified since I must approve all field notes. Thanks for the help!
  5. I only have two, but is there another way to discover them on the mac?
  6. O.K. I may be in the minority here but I do not always feel that newer does not always equal better. After reading all of the reviews I could get my hands on, playing around with demo models in the store, and reading lots of posts on forums I have made a decision to buy another 60csx before they are all gone. Yes the 62 has a "cool factor" but for someone who is looking for a workhorse GPS the 60csx is the way to go. I have one I bought many years ago, it still works fine but now is a great time to get a replacement for a good price. The build quality is now the same for the 62 and in my humble opinion the creature features just are not worth the change. But the one feature that sent me back to the 60 was the limit of the tracking features of the 62. I love to hike and keep a track of each hike. When I discovered that there was a 10000 point limit for a track that along with other small "well the 60 will do this but the 62 doesn't" features was all I needed to make my decision. I'm sure the 62 is great for a bunch of folks but it's just not right for me and my needs. That's my 2 cents, probably not worth much more than that.
  7. After importing the GPX file, click next, check Cachelists then create you FTF file. You have to manually select them but after the first time you only have to select new FTF's. I hope this helps.
  8. That can't be the case, I have a WHHHOOOOLLLLLLLLEEEEE lot more DNF's then that. I think it could be because we have had some caches in our area archived and another was place in it's spot. I am removing a log of one of these a will see if that fixes the problem. Trouble is I can not run another "My Finds" query for a week, I will be ale to report back about this in a week.
  9. I use GCStatistic for Mac. Where do I find the macro?
  10. I didn't want to put the XXX... I am a family man after all. I guess this could be referring to a couple of caches that were archived that have now been revived as new caches. Thanks for the help.
  11. When I run my stats it states that I have X number of finds at X different geocaches. Why or what is the difference? I'm sure I am supposed to know this but.... Thanks for the help.
  12. This past weekend I took my Dad caching for the first time, he found $10 on the way to the cache. He said, "I'm already a fan of this geo-finding thing." It didn't last, the "greatest generation" didn't see any sense in going out in the woods and finding junk.
  13. We are almost there, 1000 finds. It has taken a little longer because I burned the family out in our first year of caching. I am looking for a 1000th geocache idea for a midnight cache run in the Hattisburg, MS area. Anyone have any ideas? What are some things you have done to celebrate your milestone finds?
  14. I have started making all caches which could have TB's placed in them PMO caches. I have lost several TB's of my own, usually they were logged by someone who had less then 50 caches. I am happy that newbies try geocaching and I want to encourage the growth on the game but I also understand that some folks just borrow a gpsr from a friend, find a few caches and never go out again. At least if someone has shelled out $30 for a membership they may decide to finish the year with a few finds. I know it is no guarantee but I want to do what I can to protect the TB's that are in my containers.
  15. I have downloaded a GPX file that was created for a group of trails in the woods. It is a track file but when I open the file it opens in the middle of the ocean! I am using a MAC OSX opening the file in both Garmin Road Trip and Google Earth. Both programs do the same thing. I'm sure I am doing something wrong, just can't figure out what it is. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  16. For a moderator you are very rude. To be frank with you until I received the NA notice only one other person had posted a DNF. If you are a moderator this kind of rude comment does not promote conversation and discussion. BTW... I did go check this cache... drove 40 miles to do so... it was missing... I did replace it.
  17. Thanks knowschad... on that note I think I'll head off to bed knowing that I have not flunked out of a yet another school... I was worrying about how I was gonna tell my wife. []
  18. To be accurate there have been three DNF logs, one on July 25 and the other two on October 18. I indeed feel like this was a "quick trigger." This post was not intended to be about what I should do but rather a discussion about the etiquette of when to post a Maintenance post and a Archive post.
  19. I do not blame the reviewer at all, they are only doing what they need to do. But posting a maintenance log would have accomplished the same outcome. I will go check on the cache and replace or archive it if needed. At this time the cache has been temporarily disabled not archived.
  20. It's illegal in the state of Tennessee to place a cache in a cemetery. I have been to a bunch of caches in them though. My family and I enjoy them for the history, I believe if they are placed they should be easy to find to keep folks from destroying the area.
  21. I just a cache archived by someone because she and her partner and the person before her could not find the cache. What kind of bothers me about the situation is that instead of posting a maintenance needed post she archived it! Now I feel like I'm on the clock with GC.COM. This lady has over 4000 caches to her credit, is it just me or is this a little rude? It seems that a maintenance post would have served the same purpose and been a little less extreme. Heck, maybe she just didn't find it, just because you have 4000 caches does not mean you can't miss one every once in a while. What is the proper etiquette in this situation?
  22. I posted a waymark that was near my work and got slammed by the guy who owned it because I did not provide additional historical information. He didn't ask for it by the way. He stated that Waymarking is NOT like geocaching and he urged me to stick with geocaching. Have not been back to Waymarking.com since.
