Last fall I placed a geocache in a tree in the floodplain. It takes you to a nice spot near the river's edge. But, every spring the water rises. The area becomes a different place. Also something to see, but definately different. A series of lakes and side streams appear.
The cache characteristics change and other than the container it becomes a different cache. You need boots, perhaps a life jacket, maybe a boat. The cache remains above water but not all of the tree does. Caution and good judgment must be excercised, it's not doable by everyone - it becomes a 4.5 or dare I say maybe a 5.
I am trying to decide what to do with the listing. Should I disable the listing during these times? Should I update the description to better reflect this phenomona (I did add a sentence so far)? Do I need to worry about people's judgement and keeping them safe? Will people drive out here and be dissappointed? What about the rating and screwing with people's stats?
This whole phenomona lasts a couple of weeks and it turns back into a peacefull family setting.
Along the Black River
A couple people have went here this week and none felt it worth going to the cache site. What do you think?
