  1. So many good ideas and comments. Thank you, thank you. I am going to list the names from this thread in the cache description in an AKA (also known as) section for visitors to see. They are too creative not to. For the published name we are going to use Norton Hears a Who, though it's still really a coin flip. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case anyone else has a clever name to add to the list. As an aside, All this also made me wonder if a good travel bug would be an AKA bug that had some base criteria/constrants and each finder would suggest an alternate name on each hop.
  2. What makes for a good name? Do you prefer descriptive, clever, or something else? Does the name influence if/when you visit a cache? How much effort do you put into picking a name? Which of the following names do you like? Do you have a better idea? It's for a stop-along-the-way cache at a tiny rustic wayside in the township of Norton. There's a sandstone geographic feature in a rural wooded setting along the highway. 3. Last fall I placed a geocache in a tree in the floodplain. It takes you to a nice spot near the river's edge. But, every spring the water rises. The area becomes a different place. Also something to see, but definately different. A series of lakes and side streams appear. The cache characteristics change and other than the container it becomes a different cache. You need boots, perhaps a life jacket, maybe a boat. The cache remains above water but not all of the tree does. Caution and good judgment must be excercised, it's not doable by everyone - it becomes a 4.5 or dare I say maybe a 5. I am trying to decide what to do with the listing. Should I disable the listing during these times? Should I update the description to better reflect this phenomona (I did add a sentence so far)? Do I need to worry about people's judgement and keeping them safe? Will people drive out here and be dissappointed? What about the rating and screwing with people's stats? This whole phenomona lasts a couple of weeks and it turns back into a peacefull family setting. Along the Black River A couple people have went here this week and none felt it worth going to the cache site. What do you think?
