  1. I'm with BobboTeam, I'm still using the old app, I don't see the value in the new app. In fact, was geocaching today on bike (would love to have the geocache for apple watch back) and my buddy was using the new app. I could see a picture in the description which was key to finding the cache. He couldn't see the picture in the description nor could he see the picture in the host's photos list, a real bummer. I like the old Geocaching App and hope that the Apple Watch app comes back soon. Thanks, a member since 2001. Mike Sllim Chance I'm rather more than simply disappointed to learn this today. I will add my voice to the chorus of people that bought an Apple Watch partly with Geocaching in mind. It literally was only one item on a list of justifications for it, but it was the most "fun" reason on that list. I promise to try and set my anger and frustration aside and answer your specific questions. I will be honest and report that I had not noticed the app was gone because it pairs only with the new free Geocaching App, which I hate to use because several of the most critical features still are missing . I still continue to always use the original, classic (PAID!) app on my iPhone. I always understood that the watch did not have a compass. Here is how I used it, and how I would like to use it in future. When I am hiking and gathering a number of caches on foot, I find a cache, log it on my phone, and then set the next destination. Sometimes I need the compass to navigate, but since most of my caching is urban/suburban, the navigation is often simple. All I really need is to know how much distance I need yet to travel. Rather than continuing to check my phone as I walk, it would be perfect if I have the app set to find a cache, that the watch would give me a tap at preset distance(s) from the cache. Off topic, but still important: The most important missing feature of the new Geocaching app for iOS is the simpler and more intuitive interface of the Classic Premium app. Every time I pull out on the map and it shows me a circled "3" instead of three individual hides, I grind my teeth to stifle an angry shout and close the app in frustration.
  2. I haven't run PQs for a month and then went to run one yesterday. If finally came in 6 hours later, but was only 10 caches when it should have been 200. This is frustrating. It has worked quickly and perfectly every other time I've used the PQ feature. Another vote to please get this straightened out sooner than later. Thanks, Mike
  3. This would be a nice feature. We can already do it with loc files, in fact anyone can, not just Premium Members. Please give us this option. Thanks, Mike
  4. Is it possible to download multiple gpx files at the same time in the same way that you can with loc files? I am on a Mac using maccaching as my organizer. Thanks, Mike
  5. That must have been it. It didn't have Topo loaded. I tried again with a small area from each map and it loaded them both. Now Topo and CN have show and hide options. Thank you, Mike
  6. I'm using a Mac and Garmin MapInstaller. I selected maps (sections) from Topo and CN and then installed maps. I double checked to make sure that I had selections from both maps hilighted. I'm trying a small area to try to figure it out. I'll post back. If this doesn't work, I'll go boot back into windows and try from Waypoint Manager. Thanks for your thoughts.
  7. I've got the same problem. I can hide basemap and city navigator, but it doesn't say anything about showing or hiding topo. I'm also on a Rino 530HCx. Any ideas?
  8. I have the same problem. Only a small, green dot and "Geocache", not the Cache name. I've just been messing with it too and found that my problem is the same as the quote above. Tiny Green dot and Geocache in the Note section on a 530HCx. Using Mac OSX and Firefox.
  9. Update: I reformatted the card, updated the Rino firmware and card now works. I loaded all of city navigator on it as a test. Took near 2 hours to load.

  14. I only have one, but when my radio is turned off and then I turn off the unit, mine powers up fine. Haven't had to take the battery off. Mike
  15. In what sense? It is pretty much a line of sight walkie talkie.
  16. I have a Rino 130 and 530. The first thing I noticed when I first powered on the 530HCx is that it took 30 seconds to acquire 9 satellites in my house, my 530 had been acquiring for 3 minutes and it only had 3 satellites. I have a 2GB Lexar chip and have added almost half the US (138 maps, 752mb) to the chip, unfortunately, I found out that the 530HCx doesn't like my Lexar 2GB MicroSD. Fortunately I also had a Kingston 1GB MicroSD that it did like. I hope Garmin gets a patch or firmware update that allows it to see my Lexar card. It regulary picks up 8 to 11 satellites. Sitting in my house right now, 4 feet from a 2.5' wide x 5' tall window, my 530 has 4 satellites and my 530HCx has 8. 530 shows +/- 49' and the 530HCx shows +/- 9'. I've played around a little bit with the City Navigator v8, and it seems pretty cool. The 530 just lost satellite reception, meanwhile the 530HCx sstill has 7 satellites at +/- 11'. 530 had weak signal notice showing, but that went away and it now has 3 satellites +/- 40'. Overall, I was real impressed with the 530 and I think I'm really gonna like the 530HCx.
  17. Thanks, I finally found it through sourceforge. 1.3.3a did the trick. 1.3.4 was not working.
  18. I'm apparently quite dense... where is the download link at the gpsbabel site?
  19. I am trying to get coordinates to places that I will be visiting next week. I can get the kmz file from GE, but am coming up short converting it to something that can be used by MacCaching. Is there a way to get it into MacCaching or my Rino 530HCx without doing it manually? I've searched for a bit in the forums, but couldn't find anything. Thanks, Mike
  20. Just got my 530HCx and found out (assuming I'm doing things correctly) that a 1GB Kingston card works and a 2GB Lexar card does not. Anyone else finding anything?
  21. Canelled my order from Tigergps and ordered from Gpsnow who had them in stock. A couple bucks for two day shipping and it will be here by 4:30pm on Friday (day after tomorrow). Excited to use it on a road trip I'll be taking next Wednesday. Anyone got theirs yet? Mike
