  1. I would like: 1)GPS V 2)Walking stick 3)Sighting compass 4)30 less pounds 5)to be finished taking courses so that I'll have time to cache! 6)laptop That'll do it for now. Don't want to be greedy! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  2. Yep, my fault for not mentioning that. You're right, it's not mentioned in the cache page. Sorry about that. I'm in the process of trying to get an exchange with someone in Wales. You're right though, it is a terrific idea, and a great way to make some international caching friends. If there is anyone who would like to do another one here in Victoria, I'd be happy to exchange!! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  3. Sorry, I think this is the same thing as the Peace Arch cache. The Alethiometrists and I exchanged our own cache items. He sent me a box filled with North Carolina items, and I sent him a box of BC items. I hid his box as my own, and he hid my box as his own. We just took it a step further and made it a multi stage to further the cooperation between countries. Please read the cache page to see more. Don't want to take anything away from what you were saying Zuuk, but I also don't want to take anything away from the fact that this has been done already by The Alethiometrists. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  4. I wanted to have a search for my work location, and my other office locations. I know the postal code, but not the coordinates. Why would this be any different than having a search by zip code? That is already an option. Its just asking for the same consideration for the Canadian contingent. It's available from the main page, but not on PQ. I just wondered why. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  5. Currently, one can do a PQ search by zip code or coordinate. However, for the many Canadian cachers out there, may we please have a search by Postal Code? It is available on the regular geocaching search, and would be a fantastic addition to pocket queries. Thank you kindly! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  6. I have noticed that the PQ allows searching by Zip code or by coord. Wouldn't it be nice for Cdns to be able to search by Postal Code? Anyone think this is something that should be suggested? Or does it already exisit and I just haven't found it yet? "You are cleared for geocaching."
  7. Aaaaccchooo! ...sniff... "You are cleared for geocaching."
  8. 141 in 7 months = 20/day average. Great thanks be to the cache machine! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  9. Are you talking about something like this cache?Peace Arch "You are cleared for geocaching."
  10. Mark 42 - Thank you! I was just about to post the same thing after reading the aforementioned rant. My trail kit is small. Bandaids, wipes and gauze. Simple stuff to keep the dirt out while I continue caching. For the other stuff, knowledge is the best first aid kit. Yes, DUC996 I have taken a first aid class. I teach them. Something that I always stress is improvisation. How many people are seriously going to have 4 triangular bandages to treat a broken arm "by the book"? Duct tape. It's all you'll ever need. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  11. Hi Bill1905, and welcome! I'm on an island, but not quite on Cape Breton Island. It's been a while since you have posted, and no one had said hi yet, so here I am. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  12. Perhaps if no one responded to the bashing and name calling, it would go away. As long as bullies have an audience/reponse, they will continue to seek the limelight. Ignore it. Whatever needs to be said to the bashers, has already been said in 100 other forums, so they don't need to be acknowledged again. Sound like a plan? "You are cleared for geocaching."
  13. Welcome mavOric! I remember how excited I was when I first started caching. (Ok, so I'm still excited.) You live in the best province for it too! We have caches all over the place, with terrific terrain and gorgeous views. Keep posting about your adventures, and keep a log book of your own to remember your finds. You'll be amazed at how quickly they will add up. Just wait until you do your first Cache Machine! I'm sure you will make many new caching friends too. Have fun! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  14. I don't want to see virtuals eliminated. I would just like to seem them tough to approve. I tried to make one and was denied. I fought it with the cache approver and on the forum, and was still denied. I thought it was a good virtual. However, after thinking calmly about it, and listening to what other cachers had to say (therefore getting another perspective from the people who would have gone after it) I had to agree with the denial. I understand the frustration when you get denied. Been there, done that. But virtuals are far too common. In some places, they are terrific. It is those places that they should be, and are allowed. Others just seem to be placed as something easy to count. Let's not just say "ban them all" but instead, examine the true need to make one in the first place. You may not agree with the person who denies it. Do as I did. Take it to the forum and make your case. if you are still denied, you've done your best. Don't get angry. Get even, by placing an awesome regular cache somewhere else. my 2 cents. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  15. How about a FIX of cachers? "You are cleared for geocaching."
  16. Ok, yours is cool RobertM. SombrePuppy, yours is just getting weirder. Put the eyeball back!! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  17. SombrePuppy, your new avatar is even creepier than the last one. Eeewwww!!! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  18. I'm awash in tears right now. I can't believe the gut wrenching news. I'm so sad, but I'm so angry too. I live in an area where cars fly up and down the roads. I've seen the deer, rabbits and other little creatures that fall victim to the cars. My kitty, Barkley, will never been an outdoor cat. If I am crying this much over someone elses, I can't imagine what I'd do for my own. I think there needs to be some sort of little tribute to Topaz and all the happiness he brought to local cachers. God, I'm just so sad! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  19. Well, it does ask how we did this long weekend, so why don't we just revive it and make it applicable to this long weekend? I had four days off, and got three caches. Pitiful. I was busy doing homework. Went out this morning with the intention of getting all the X-treme caches, but only managed to hit 4 and find 3. Ugh. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  20. Dang! I was really hoping that Green Tea was still around. Another forum had him (her?) from Brentwood. I was all excited at the possibility of FINALLY having someone to go caching with. Oh well. Anyone else close to Brentwood Bay? "You are cleared for geocaching."
  21. Sorry, I was reading cuz I thought you were going to ask for a pic of my dog. As I don't have my dog as my avatar, I can't respond. Oh, wait, I guess this was a response. Wanna see a pic of my dog? Me with my doggie "You are cleared for geocaching."
  22. quote:Originally posted by RobertM: quote:Originally posted by canadazuuk:I'd instruct some fair and reasonable admins to start handing out warnings, and then suspensions, to those who go beyond the reasonable limits of disagreement. And then you'd instruct them to get us to sit in the corner for 1 hour, right? Haa haa haa! That was funny RobertM! "You are cleared for geocaching."
  23. Yep, I'm glad they are gone. I hope all those little animated smiley thingies go too. Colour me cranky, but why in the world do you need to have your posts plastered with pictures, dancing bananas and flashing banners? Aren't we here to discuss caching? After the 10th time seeing a huge picture of a skier, I was fed up. The huge line up of dancing smileys drives me nuts too. As far as avatars go, they aren't disturbing. They are off to one side, and aren't in the body of the message. So Jeremy, good on ya! Thank you for making a tough decision and for getting pooed upon by people too interested in their flashing bells and whistles. Can we all please get over this and get back to geocaching? I'm sorry, I'm up late and I'm tired. I had to vent. After reading though 4 pages of this topic, I feel it would be a lot neater and easier to read if it was just the message and not a lot of crap attached to it. Here endeth the rant. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  24. I have to say that I agree with removing the images. Some of them were getting quite large and out of hand (my opinion- obviously shared by the other users who had complained) As far as deleting posts is concerned, we were given fair warning. "You are cleared for geocaching."
  25. I bought a small ready-made to put into a cache as a trade item. Then I took a wipe out while caching and had to break into the kit. So, now I carry a small ready made. In my car, I have a much larger home made kit with stuff suitable for more serious injuries, and things like car accidents, etc. It also has some very basic survival gear. It gives me piece of mind while out on back roads, and for things like our driving trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. "You are cleared for geocaching."
