  1. If your are willing to do a trade, we should have the new trackable Oklahoma coin real soon. I like your idea of the coin.
  2. smilies=time spent with the spouse + time not spent watching tv + some exercise + some sunshine (most days) + road trips with friends + making new friends + trying new things (who knew S would actually rapell down that wall!). And yes, we earned every one of them and signed each logbook.
  3. There are several cachers in the Tulsa area that are very good with the Lowrance units. Come to one of our monthly meetings if you'd like. We aren't formal, just eat and talk. The next meeting is listed as a Christmas party, but the cache page is recycled for all the meetings just put it on your watchlist! Tulsa Area Geocachers
  4. For those of you fortunate enough to live where there are big mountains and tons of SNOW and have really cool hikes to go on and caches to find while up there, those are not the kinds of temporarily disabled caches I am inquiring about....as far as I am concerned snow would be an extenuating circumstance. My concern is basically with the cache in the flood retention pond, local park, or at the lake that has log after log stating that the cache needs TLC or has eight DNF logs and the very active cacher never responds.
  5. Thank you for the good responses. I have posted SBA logs in the past, but always feel a little bad about doing it. The most recent was a cache that had been removed and the owner said it was not going to be replaced and then they never visited the website again. Of course, there will always be extenuating circumstances (floods, earthquakes, hurricanes); I was more concerned with caches that need maintenance or replaced within 25 miles of a cachers home area. I've noticed there always seems to be time to place new caches or drive 100 miles from home to power cache, but rarely time for maintaining an existing wounded cache. We have been guilty of this once or twice, but recently had an epiphany regarding how frustrating it can be to have a disabled cache on your nearest from home page! Needless to say we quickly rectified our one disabled physical cache and are trying to decide on how to handle our CITO page (archive and create a new page when we are ready for the next cleanup or let it be disabled until the time comes). Thanks again for the responses and will be happy to hear from other members if they have differing opinions!
  6. "This feature is to allow you a reasonable time – normally a few weeks – in which to arrange a visit to your cache. In the event that a cache is not being properly maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an extended period of time, we may archive or transfer the listing." We've all been guilty of temporarily disabling caches for longer that a few weeks. I have been thinking about the above quote from the guidelines and have been wondering....... .....How long is too long for a cache to be temporarily disabled? And does anybody (reviewer, etc) really keep tabs on the disabled caches? Thanks
  7. Oklahoma Geocachers Morning Meeting There are some pretty decent folks that go to this! A lot of them like to get out together after the meetings and cache.
  8. We found a few caches in Alaska a couple years ago. We had cache pages and coords loaded before we flew out to board the ship. One of our shore excursions actually got us up Mt Roberts in Juneau and we hiked the rest of the way (not extremely far, but very uphill) to the cache. Later in the trip, when we arrived in Anchorage we just put on our walking shoes and hit the streets. I can't think of a better way to cache or discover a new city than to just start walking!
  9. If you send an email to their "feedback" link, they will post your comments to their cache page (similar to they way we log our finds on line here).
  10. Welcome!! Here are a few places to check out if you are interested. TAG Yahoo message board TAG wepage (has some good links) Oklahoma Geocachers If you are ever in the Tulsa area on the first Saturday Hope to meet you one day! Maybe we will see you at Fall Fest this year.
  11. I know the promotion is over but, we were up in KS today and decided to check out Over the Rainbow near Riverton. Would you believe a couple Okies got to be FTF on that. I thought more folks lurked the forums and that the cachers up there would be all over it! They only placed a virtual near us and then a traditional out past OKC (we rarely go past the City) and we wanted to find a traditional. Since we frequent the lottery in KS we decided to keep a printout of their coords in the Jeep.
  12. Are you speaking for both members? Actually we just called an emergency meeting and the 4 1/4 of us are all in complete agreement.
  13. On behalf of the Bugtussle United Geocachers (BUG) we politely decline.

  21. I don't know if this is a widespread program, but the City of Broken Arrow has an adopt a park program. We paid $15.00 for a sign to be put up and they ask that we go out once a month and clean up.
