  1. Heck yes, He&& yes, &$^$ yes. Now if only IPAQ did not turn on when you press the camera button on the side I would be set.
  2. Condoqueen & Leedr If you are still running into issues with the IPAQ, and HTML files let me know, I am using the same set up and would be happy to help in any way I can.
  3. Thanks for the info, worked perfectly and during the process I think I answered my other question as well.
  4. Hey all, I have a TB that is showing a location of Unknown Location, but we still have it. We never sent it out into the world yet? Does anyone know a way to correct this? I read the FAQ, and tried a few of the things on that list, but the problem is that I can add it to the a cache, its not showing up in my drop down for inventory?
  5. All, I have two web pages that I use quite often, they should also deal with the majority of the ciphers seen in the puzzle caches, once you figure out the cipher to use of course. http://www.richkni.co.uk/php/crypta/index.php and http://www.paulschou.com/tools/xlate/ Hope you find them useful Jason
  6. i used both the gamin, and ram mount, and would have to say that for on my handle bar I like the RAM better, but then again I'm on a MT bike on single tracks with LOTS of vibration. Never really had a problem with the gamin product just seems that RAM has less shake then the other.
  7. For what we do, I'm not sold on the need for CacheMate, we got it loaded files over to the system, and it works, but at the same time in GSAK you can export your cache list to a folder as HTML and the IPAQ can read that just fine. Other then being able to mark caches as found, i have yet discover benefits we need. It might sound a bit technical, but its really quite simple to export the data from GSAK, just follow the instructions that are on the forms and don't change any settings in the software and the world will just keep spinning.
  8. If you find that you are still having difficulties, let someone on the forms know that is in your area, I am sure someone would be willing to "walk" you through a few caches to get your feet wet with. All in all I think you will find that most cachers are more then willing to assit in helping any way they can.
  9. wow, that is the most fatting, artery clogging thing I have ever hard of, Sounds freaking awesome!!
  10. wow, I have some images that look like that, I was drinking the other night while using photoshop to..
  11. <- wise,,, well I have been called allot of things before, that was never one of them,, I am going to have to show my better half that one. " See honey,, I am wise!!!" "disobey" it.... thats funny, now I know what to call it when its getting all pissed off at me when I will not turn where it wants me to and it keeps beeping after recalculating..... Sometimes you have to ask who had the opposable thumb.
  12. I'm also running the same set up as you with out any glitches, The copy being reg'ed of un-reg'ed for the sake of testing should not be an issue. For the sake of argument, rip and reinstall both software applications and try again, think of it as drop back five yards and punt. If you would I would be happy to send you a known working exported file for testing. At least that way you can see what application is causing the problem. Let me know if you want the file. An after the fact thought, are you saving the files to the file share/documents folder/or/external card on the IPAQ? might be something goffy with the location??
  13. when we were in the market, we did allot of reading up as it were on the different brands and models, and If i was going to do it again, i would still go with the 60CSX, good unit, outstanding battery life, easy to interface and lots of higher end functions that you can play with and screw up...... I mean learn to use and make the unit work better for you in the long run. I am sure there are users of other types/brands that fell the same way about there, but just on the items that were mentioned in previous replays (memory cards, ect) go X and all the worlds your oyster is the budget allows. That and the support group on this site for these units is amazing, you can most of the time find someone that has tried to figure out what I can't seem to and are more then willing to share some GPSr pearls of wisdom.
  14. This thread is where I got the information I needed on who to load new "custom" icons. Hope it helps http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=75947
  15. This might belong in Software/UNits, but I thought I woud try not making a new thread first. Does anyone have idea on how to get a custom image to display on the garmin for a block of benchmarks at once? The only way I have found to do it to; 1)Download the benchmarks to a loc file, 2)Load that LOC file into Mapsourse 3)Select all waypoint and change the waypoint properties for the Symbol to Customer Image 1 4)With the custom images already uploaded to my 60csx, upload the waypoints to the GPS and they will display with the benchmark symbol? Works well for getting the image to display on the GPSr, but revers engineering does not work, when you download the waypoints it does not bring the symbol with it. Any thoughts on getting it display in the mapping program?
  16. Just found this as well, you can press menu again when on the show map menu and turn on/off maps by type. Much easier then checking/un-checking each map
  17. I would agree with everything Larry said about using the 60CSX for road use. With that said, I do find 2 features of its road use a little "problematic" 1) The for mentioned beep telling you that you have a turn coming up can be a little bit late depending on the number of lanes, speed, that sort of thing. 2) The road closed, or re-navigation feature is REALLY cool, but can also be REALLY wrong as well. I was using it for a business trip in Canada last month and there was a bridge out, every time I would change directions and drive 5 miles away it would recalculate and send me right back the same bridge. Now I relies that this is a feature and not really an error by the GPSr but it is something I think you should be aware of. As with any GPSr road navigation system, you want to take it with a grain of salt, you still have to think about where you want to go. CARD vs DVD. I would go with the DVD again, you can also build routes on your PC, name they what ever you would like and then upload them to the GPSr. I have found this handy when traveling through known bad traffic areas (DC). Or when traveling to some where I have never driven before. Load up where you want to go from the air port, get in the rental car and you can drive like a local.
  18. OK.. 1- you have to be kidding, thats the interface for that.... WITF (and not the TV channel) 2- just to be clear, once you turn off inland lakes (whitch has better street maps) and city navigator, the road that I now see on the TOP maps, are the base maps, or a park of the TOPO.. I am guessing they are a part of the TOPO maps?
  19. I might be being "special" on this one, but can someone point me in the correct direction. I loaded topo maps up to my unit, they show up in the maps menu items, but I cant get them to display on the screen... what in the name of Zeus's butthole am I doing wrong?

  21. After checking mail 1st things in the morning, after lunch, and once I get home and get the family feed during beer 30.
  22. Just a quick question, What is the general consensus on track-able items? After they have been placed, do they get moved around and see the world, do you find that they just stay in one main geographic area. Or do they vanish in the hands of the Geo-coin fairy. With that question in mind, would there be a is the goon-missing stats between TB (dog tag style) and Coin style items? Would anyone know of a way to report out on the track-ables registered with the site, think of it as a sounding board as to the number of items still in the rotation, the oldest living, the longest traveled, and so on.
  23. I feel that if they are in/around historical cemeteries and have some sort of relevance to that location, and are in good taste, then all is well, tree climbing no matter the location gets left off my find list most of the time. Aside from the potential difficult LEO issues, I'm just way to accident prone to be doing that sort of thing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would feel like a dirt bag if i was searching for a cache and someones loved one came to pay their respects and it happened to be at the same place I was hunting.
  24. I'm a huge LL Bean Fan, The soon to be wife let me get this a few days back LL Bean Leather Messenger Bag Not only does it hold all my stuff on the weekends, but it can hold my laptop and office geek stuff during the week. I love muti-taskers.
  25. I think that carrying the brochure is a must, but on my wish list would be cache containers that were clearly marked, sticked, or labeled as being caches. And the GC identifiers on the log book. We got questioned by campus security at a local community collage one day after finding the cache and was filling out the log book, seems that a professors had seen us milling around by some steps and reached up under things. Security was annoyed, and it took a few times to enplane what was going on, it would have been nice to have the evidence show that was I was saying was the truth. Nothing ever came of it, we offered to pull the cache from the site if it was posing a problem, they said it was fine where it was, but what we were doing looked like suspicious activity. I guess with all of that in mind, we are going to start carrying "official" geocache stickers in our cache repair kit. BTW, does anyone have the image file for those stickers?
