  1. We first owned an Eagle by Lowrance & now we own the Magellan/Meridian/Platinum. Looked at the Garmin & thought-I don't think so...No one carried the better units--just the plain versions. So after looking at the Meridian we were sold. So far this unit is everything we wanted & works for us. This poll didn't give an option for other units..there are other brands out there.
  2. Thanks to everyone who took the time & effort to help -The Pretty 1 of 2oldfarts-...you really answered my question so now I know what I am doing. This was a quick response--I wasn't expecting to get help this quickly! Thank you muchly!!
  3. I have not been a Premium member for very long & have looked everywhere I can think to find a list of all the subscription caches to no avail...can someone help me out? Or are there none? Thank you very much for any info. The Pretty 1 of 2oldfarts
  4. Thank you for taking the time to answer my query, I appreciate it. 1 of 2oldfarts
  5. We have placed a number of caches and have noticed that the more effort it takes to get to and find the cache the more equitable will be the trades. We have one friend who went to one of our caches and took a Winchester knife and left a promo keyring and saw nothing inequitable abut the trade. Human nature being what it is ......
  6. We found a Geodetic survey marker but cannot find it in the system. It is identified as J 405 -+- 1962. It is at 37deg. 00.017 min.N. and 111deg. 34.312 min. W. Entering the coordinates produced no listing. How does one go about getting the PID for an unknown marker. Thank you for any help offered. 1 of 2oldfarts
  7. We just became members and have not made any plans to do MOC mainly because there are so few caches within a 50 to 60 mile radius of our home. We subscribed because we enjoy the sport. One criteria we use when placing a cache is the difficulty in getting to and finding the cache. The tougher it is the better the items in the cache. We also ask on the cache page that people trade equitably so others will be able to find something nice. When we hide a cache it is for our enjoyment first, then for the enjoyment of other cachers second!!! If no one finds the cache we still had the fun of Geocaching. That is why we subscribed.
  8. You can't always avoid the cacti so having a roll of duct tape handy works wonders in removing a large quanity of the very small spines at one time. If you hike nude you learn to watch where you are going --very quickly!!
