  1. We like the new pages, but are experiencing a couple of minor problems and could use some help. When we log in it no longer remembers our password and it needs to be entered each time. We have clicked on "remember me" with no luck. The other problem is when we do a filtered search, the first page comes up just fine. When we click next page we get all caches again and not just the filtered ones. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Smile, make others wonder what you're up to!!!
  2. : or that those little hills to the north are actually burial mounds that they don't tell anyone about and want me to stay the hell away from them. I thought geocaching rules forbid digging? How do you know they want you to stay away? Smile, make others wonder what you're up to!!!
  3. I might be wrong about this, but it appears to me to be a courtesy on the part of VW to post on GEOCACHING.COM that they are promoting geocaching and the manner in which they are doing so. Just remember there are two rules to life... 1) Don't sweat the small stuff 2) It's all small stuff!! Addicted finder of *old* BM's!
  4. How about using neither the "new" or the "asterisk" and instead highlight the date in say red or blue if it was found in the last seven days? Just a suggestion. Addicted finder of *old* BM's!
  5. What we've noticed with all of our many caches (all 9 of 'em)that we've hidden is that the ones where the "masses" can find them the easiest get the most trash in them. Those that are out of town and take an hour or more to get to the cache site have stayed well stocked and almost no trash. It seems those that are willing to put some effort into finding a cache bring along nice trading material. We have not done any themed caches, so have no opinion there. We are considering doing one this summer, though. If you do an easy to get to cache plan on doing more maintenance visits. Whatever way you choose to go have fun doing it. Jeremy Irish Groundspeak - The Language of Location This probably explains why I couldn't log-in earlier today. I sent an e-mail to TPTB and everything is back to normal for us. You folks do a great job, Thank You !! Addicted finder of *old* BM's!
  7. This thread is one of the most interesting yet. I had never thought some of the things could happen except for in the movies as The Falcon said.....great reading.....Wonder if anything like this could happen in a rural area? Please keep the stories coming! Addicted finder of *old* BM's!
  8. We are fine with logo items...where would you draw the line? What about MC toys, ball caps with names, even "Swiss Army" utility items?...If the item is in good condition-why not? They seem to get picked up very quickly by our fellow cachers. Sooo...we say--go ahead. Addicted finder of *old* BM's!

Did it occur to you that your comment about handicapped, stupid, or ignorant might be hurtful to that person? My presumption was that they might be a tad lazy in their posting technique, that's not uncommon here. Take the time to reread my post and yours. Which one had more to do with this thread or geocaching? I probably shouldn't expect that much from someone who'd put "fart" in their user name. Have a nice day. Well, now let the "Lady" of 2oldfarts answer... Your snide little remark was uncalled for & you should apologize whether you are a female or male. We looked at your profile & of course rude people do not want anyone to know anything about themselves..& it is hard to know by your handle what gender you are--still doesn't matter...we all can do without demeaning remarks. 10. Your picture shows that you found the concrete post that the disk was set in. The disk in now missing as evident by the imprint of it in the concrete. The one similar benchmark we found had the concrete broken apart, but there was enough pieces available for a partial reassembly. It showed the same imprint. 1 of 2oldfarts [This message was edited by 2oldfarts (the rockhounders) on June 19, 2003 at 01:48 PM.]
  11. This depends on your locale...If is close to Northern AZ. Then I'm voting H-ll yes! Me & my old fart would enjoy it & know several other cachers who would too.

  13. I'm not computer savvy enough to set up a link to waypoint GQ0323, but if you go to the benchmark search and enter the pid (GQ0323) there are some pictures there.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Cholo: Something is certainly missing. It's probably your calling, which should be writing hints for cache hiders. You're showing a lot of class there Cholo. What, no respect for the handicapped? From teamcourage's writing it appears as though he might be dyslexic, not stupid or ignorant. Like so many others you seem to have lost your common courtesy. You probably can't even be man enough to apologize either. 1 of 2oldfarts
  15. Ummmm, Can I buy a clue for this one??? It hits the fan. How about a Stash of Geocachers
  16. 115 years old is an excellent find! Hope you can find another oldie soon.
  17. They had to survey the top of the mountain so that the airlines would not fly their planes into the top of the mountain!!! Sounds like a good reason to me. nudge, nudge. I really don't know but it sounded good. One of 2oldfarts
  18. Thank you for all of your comments...There is another 1871 rock cairn in the general area but we really have to study the maps to find the more direct routes into this one. The directions are so long & old that most of the jeep trails are no longer accessable. This is soooo much FUN!!!! I hope you who are interested can find such an adrenaline rush....Thanks again...so many BM's, caches & minerals specimans--so little time. 2oldfarts
  19. Just a suggestion for you if your cache is denied. Go to your nearby caches and make an entry in the front of the log books giving the coordinates of the virtual and suggest they visit the site and e-mail with their opinions. I did this with one of our caches and it seems to work pretty good at getting people to visit someplace we think is worth the effort to see. Granted it's not a virtual cache this way but it does get the same results -- people visiting the site.

Right, vote him out and get someone like ole Billie who tried to turn all of the country into NATIONAL MONUMENTS by presidental orders. Lets vote for Hillary and see if she does any better????
  21. We recently placed a cache with a friend. When we logged it on this site we just put our name "&" and his name as the person doing the placeing of the cache. On the cache page his name is listed along with ours, but it doesn't show up in his profile as a hidden cache. Whether or not you log it as a find should be irrelevent to others (unless THEY are keeping tabs on YOU!). The name of our cache is "Bigfoot" if you wish to see how we logged it.
  22. I have a suggestion...Locate a benchmark that is listed on Geocaching.com & place your cache on top of it. Use the given coordinates of the benchmark for your cache. VOILA-you have a viable cache with correct datum.
  23. To Mozartman: you are correct that the primary goal is to get out and find the cache."But" it has a negative effect when you get to a cache and find things that should have been left in someones trashcan. I don't expect to find a twenty dollar gold doubloon, but a "gold" sacagawea is nice.
  24. I thought the question was in reference to building, beacons, water towers, etc..
