I have been playing around with a Magellen Sportrack Pro and found it has NO Max or Average speed function. The cheapie Etrex I borrowed does. I kayak and it's great to know how fast one can go and averages. In fact the instruction book is very lame in telling you the 13 options that can be setup on the data fields. What the heck is 'turn' and you need to go to the glossary to find the acronym meanings. Frenchie lame-ness or what?? Just venting. steve

I am looking for a 100% waterproof unit. I know the E-trex are not. I'm a kayaker and need it to be 'bombproof'. steve
