  1. Used my Montana 680 to Geocache for the first time since my old Delorme died, what a difference and challenging. I am hoping to get some help from this page. Do I need the GSAK software, or can I download using Garmin express?
  2. Dito I use cache mate on my TX plus wifi I also use the TX as a MP3 player it works prety good for that if you have extended memory (I think I have 2 Gig chips)
  3. 1. GPS - DeLorme PN-20 2. Paperless - Palm TX you don't need one this nice but, I use the MP3 player and wirerless internet when I travel. 3. Downloading - DeLorme's Topo USA V6 and CacheMate. 4. Maps - Comes with Topo USA These are the best maps you can get but, maps for Canada are limited. DElorme has just released TOPO USA version 7 which is supose to have vast improvments for the PN-20 GPSu. I would chek this out before you buy somthing else. I use the PN-20 because I was already using TOPO USA where I work, My work does a lot of surveying and also We travel on the job. TOPO was used for trip planning and locating points. The PN-20 is a little slower than some of the other GPS units I have used but none of them have as many features as the PN-20. also the acuacy and receiver sensitivity is unbeatable for units in this price range. If all you use your GPS for is Geocacheing then you may want to look for somthing cheaper but if you want to do more than Geocache the PN-20 with TOPO USA is a good choice. Radar Ron
  4. I guess the cat is out of the bag on the new coin, looking at the pictures you did a great job, hope to see my coins real soon
  5. I don't do a lot of this I just turn my .shp files over to my survey shop and they do the convertions over to work with nema data, Delorme Topo USA or geo earth, and a few other. I can load these files into my Delorme PN-20 as tracks or way points and use the data that way but I don't remember converting tracks or waypoints to .shp if you give me a day or two I will ask my surveyers if it is posible to go the other way and if we have a program to do this
  6. I have to agree with a lot of these coments. I have found all hand held GPS units are lacking when using them on the road unless you have a co-pilot that can read the GPS. I use my laptop when driving and Delome TOPO USA, as far as the Delome GPS being slow it is at times when you are in route using roads, when Geocacheing I set up a route using roads to get me close then change to direct route when exiting the car.The GPS is much faster in this mode of operation. The TOPO USA maps are better than anybody elses I have used and a lot of the trails are already included with the map software
  7. I use a Delorme GPS pn-20 all the time as I already use TOPO USA version 6 (software)for maping. I down load the LOC. files into a directory and then copy them into Topo USA. I then export this map to the PN-20 with all the named way points. TOPO USA can use the GPX files also but, I haven't tryed this as I am not a premium member, after my brother in law showed me how to use a PDA I am rethinking this membership thing.
  8. I have 1 Lucky seven Utah coin I would like to trade for a Georgia Lucky 7 coin
