  1. Our virtual was shot down in flames. I have seen others very similar to the cache we wanted to place, but have been approved . Since we don't own GC.COM, there's no use complaining. Thanks for all the info, and have a GREAT New Year!
  2. Yes!!!! Very similar to that cache. It is listed as a virt. and has no cords. Thats what we are going for. BTW, Thanks for the quick response.
  3. We are trying to post our first vitual cache, which includes finding a certain type of automobile that can be found all over the country. When posting it on gc.com, it asks for the cords. We tried leaving the cords blank, but it gave me an error message. I posted fake cords, which put the cache in the middle of the ocean. Can someone tell me how to fix this situation? Thanks in advance.
  4. Just wondered what others think. Is caching a fad or here to stay? Hope it doesnt go the way of the mood ring or duck tail haircuts. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.
  5. Fall seems to be silly season, so here's a silly poll...If geocaching was a food, what would it be? Please dont think we've totally lost it. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.
  6. Voted: a little bit of each Lately, we've been doing more blabbing than caching, but hope to make up for some of that this weekend! Can't wait to tell everyone of the fun adventure that is willing to listen and have that look of... "oh wow sounds like fun!" ... most of the time... But...other times? ...well, you know the BLANK look! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.
  7. Prepare to ante up when caching in SC state parks in the future. Admission soon will no longer be free at 29 South Carolina state parks. The Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department says it will implement a $2 per person fee on Sept. 2 for all noncoastal parks. Agency officials say the new fees should raise about $1 million. The decision to raise fees come from a study of park operations mandated by lawmakers. "The small investment made by our visitors is a critical part of the funding used to maintain and enhance our state park system," said Chad Prosser, director of the agency. The fee at Myrtle Beach, Edisto Beach and Hunting Island will stay at $3, and Huntington Beach and Charles Towne Landing will charge $5, the agency said. "Once they get past the initial shock of paying for a park they've never paid for before and start thinking about things, we hope they'll realize what value they get for $2," Phil Gaines, assistant director of state parks, said. Some park enthusiasts don't like the idea of having to pay to get into all state parks. "Maybe $1 or $2 isn't going to keep many people out, but $5 or $6 might," said Dell Isham, director of the South Carolina chapter of the Sierra Club. "The more you charge, the more you're getting away from the mission of the park service." For some state parks, this is the second fee increase this year. Admission prices were increased by $1 per person at Huntington Beach, Edisto Beach, Myrtle Beach and Hunting Island and 50 cents at 11 other parks on Jan. 1. Frequent park visitors can still find a bargain with the Palmetto Passport, which allows unlimited admission to all state parks. It's $50 a year for adults, $25 for seniors. 11. Luckily, we both are into geocaching. Mr. Lost has always loved "the hunt"! Metal detecting..etc. He found the geocache site a while back, told me about it, and we both were interested! Finally, we just decided to try it out! Bought a GPS and found our first cache! What a thrill!!! After spending so much time inside the house, apart; we're now outside together, enjoying each others company in the "hunt"! Can never give "Geocaching" all the praise it deserves! 15. We've found one bench mark. It was easily out in the open, so a breeze to find. We searched for others and found the flagged "sticks" or "poles" saying "survey marker", but didn't find the actual marker? We're also confused on the coordinates that are listed in finding bench marks? Thanks for the post James Gang! Any help would be much appreciated! By the way! Love the name. Jesse James is an ancestor of Mrs. Lost. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.

  19. Well here goes... sung to the tune of Jimmy Buffetts changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes"sorry Jimmy" I took off for a weekend last month Just to try and find the right spot. Almost gave up, went back to my pick-up, it was just too doggone hot. I didn't sit in my Dodge for too long, I was itching from all the bug bites. I jumped out yelling, threw down my magellan, Caching is no good at nights. It's those changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same. With all the caches, and all of the rashes, If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane. Reading my hints in the midst of a forest, Reminds me of the places I've been Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure Makes me want to go find them again. If my GPS should die tomorrow, I could somehow adjust to the fall I'll use a compass, try not to trespass Won't stop 'till I find 'em all Chorus: These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same Through all of the scratches, and all of the brair patches, If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane I think about caching, while I'm out driving I wish I could jump off the main road. So many treasures, so little pleasures God I wish I was caching again Oh, yesterday's over my shoulder So I can't look back for too long There's just too much to find, to sit here and whine, So now I'll will end this dumb song. With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of the caches, and all of the rashes, If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane If we weren't all caching we would go insane. Inspired by Icehouse and too much time! A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.
  20. We live 30 miles from Chester State Park in S.C., and have stayed there several times. It is a small park, with picnic shelters, showers and maybe 20-25 camping sites. Also, a nice lake stocked with catfish, bass, Crappie and others. There are several nice caches in nearby Union County, which are in The Sumpter Nat. Forest. Lots of history, from the revolutionary period. Good luck and have fun! WeRlostNDwoods A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.

BUT, once you loose that fat, or if you have no fat to lose, you then GAIN muscle, which weighs more than fat.... This might be why people who have a little fat, dont notice any weight loss....You're converting the fat to muscle... If you're really concerned about losing the fat, rather than weight, you should be looking at body fat numbers, rather than your weight loss... Art http://www.yankeetoys.org http://www.BudBuilt.com http://www.pirate4x4.com I just felt the need to clarify here, I usually do when I see this statement. You were pretty close, but a bit off on some of that. Some people will gain weight, and yes hopefully that is due to increased muscle mass due to the increased activity level. But you really don't convert fat into muscle. You only lose fat, it doesn't magically change into something more useful. Everyone that has started caching who was not very active to begin with will build new muscle because they are actually using the muscles that they were neglecting before. The fat is burned as a result of building muscle. Also, having a greater muscle mass helps burn more fat, because muscle requires more energy to maintain. I do agree that it is more important to look at your percent body fat numbers rather than just your weight. The Physical Education teacher in me was just jumping up and down yelling "let me talk!" when I saw the post. Good luck on all your caches and keep it up. The health benefits are definitely here. Signature? I don't need no stinkin signature!!!! I think we all knew what cracker was saying there! ;-) A journey of a thousand miles begins with a cache.
