  1. And still waiting for a reply on the option to receive plain text emails from the last release...
  2. I have to agree; the continuing absolute silence from Groundspeak on the whole HTML only email kerfluffle is very disappointing.
  3. There are times when mutt is just handier. Not everything needs a fancy GUI to be useful. And we have yet to hear a peep out of Groundspeak as to why plain text emails are suddenly off the table. I find that much more disturbing than losing the plain text emails themselves.
  4. I knew someone would pick up on telnet! Fear not, it's not accessible from outside the box. I actually have tried that very same technique of using lynx to filter the HTML. It just trades one problem for another. Yes, it's now readable (more or less) but no links come through. With the old plain text message I could click on a link and bring up the cache/log/whatever. Please provide the option of plain text emails. They worked. The new changes don't work. I don't know how else to say it.
  5. Since the switch to HTML only email, here's what I see any time I try and read a notification from Groundspeak using a text based email client. I know something similar to this was posted last month when the pocket queries were changed to HTML only, but here's a refresher. Surely there can't be any questions as to why plain text should be available as an option?
  6. Once again, I'll put my 2 cents towards plain text. For instant notifications, for pocket query results, for messages from other players. If I can't read it in mutt and have to haul out a GUI just to read what is, at the end of the day *just text*, it's of much less use to me.
  7. Once again, with feeling: PLEASE give us the option to receive emails in PLAIN TEXT.
  8. I'm assuming that's 1-2 km return? That really limits things. If it's 1-2 km one way I can think of several more. Incredible Swing (GC1X3MB): the swing is long gone but the views remain and it's a short uphill hike. Not a busy spot at all. 7717 (GCJWNV): a short hike (if you start in the right place) with a narrow gauge engine rusting where it was abandoned at the end. If you're into earthcaches, off the top of my head: Canadian Rocky Mountains (GC1Y42E), Maligne Lake (GC3X9P4), Angel Glacier (GC4EDYD), Pyramid Lake Earthcache (GC1RAAD), Takakkaw Falls (GC1Y4JA). Bear in mind that most of the earthcaches can be insanely busy even on a weekday during the summer; they all tend to be in tourist destinations.
  9. I'd really like to know that reason. Plain text worked for me both in graphical and text environments. HTML does not.
  10. I agree. Please bring back the plain text email support.
  11. I would also be most appreciative if this could be un-broken. I quite often use a command line client to read email (oddly enough, I also use mutt) and HTML formatted emails are not terribly useful in that environment.
  12. I have to agree; the new font size is too small. Please change it back to what is was.
  13. When will this take effect? I downloaded a few puzzle cache GPXs and I'm still seeing "Mystery" in the GPX files. Can you check and see what web server you are on (http://www.geocaching.com/whoami)? I was informed that some of the web servers had to be manually restarted in order for the change to take. WEB06 (and it is still sending Mystery rather than Unknown as of 5:20 PM MDT)
  14. When will this take effect? I downloaded a few puzzle cache GPXs and I'm still seeing "Mystery" in the GPX files.
  15. They have not yet made any change as far as I can see; "Mystery Cache" is still what's coming through on individual GPX files and PQs.
  16. You can find svg (vector images) files of many of the icons you seek here.
  17. Yes, they did... And it's back to <type>Geocache|Mystery Cache</type> again.
  18. The 62sc is a very nice unit. I have one and have nothing but praise for it. At that sale price, you can't go wrong. Just don't ever handle it with DEET mosquito repellent on your hands; the rubber on the case will start peeling off and it just won't stop! I found that out the hard way with a 62s...
  19. Hi VP I've only run into a few quirks running MapSource with Wine. * Nothing with a GPS works. So no transferring maps, etc. But that's not what I want to use it for (and there's way easier ways to do that with a 62s anyhow), so I don't care. * Opening up a Waypoint Properties dialog brings up a "Please enter a waypoint name" dialog - twice. * Closing a Waypoint Properties dialog often switches me to another window. * Whenever I open a Track window, MS forgets the track name. Other than that, everything pretty much Just Works. Even printing maps. You can install extra maps in MS just as you normally would. I have OSM, Southern Alberta trail maps, the Northwest trail maps, and Ibycus' topo maps installed. Even FizzyCalc runs under Wine, which can be very handy at times!
  20. I've used a Linux netbook for all my caching needs for years. MapSource runs nicely under wine (one of these days I'm going to take a look at QLandkarte), and OpenCacheManager does for all my GSAK like needs. I'll often stuff the netbook in the pack if I'm going far afield or if I'm doing several earthcaches. For earthcaches that require gathering a lot of answers it can be very handy to be able to record the information right in the cache listing in OCM. I'm toying with the idea of setting up a local tile server on the netbook so that OCM would have maps even in the middle of nowhere. But right now I can export the caches to MapSource if I want to look at things on a larger map in the field.
  21. 0 of 4 for me this morning, odd and even numbers both not working. Can we get someone to courier a bag of hamster feed over to GS?
  22. Two out of my three that "ran" today disappeared when I clicked on them and the third that looked like it worked actually returned the previous run. Argh! Foo! Bar! Bletch!
  23. I've got two gripes so far. The fonts are just too small. I use a netbook for caching a lot and it's just terrible there. And it's not that much better on a standard monitor either. And HTML rendering in cache descriptions is broken. Table widths and centering seem to be being ignored.
  24. I use a RAM mount on my bike for my 60CSx and am extremely happy with it.
