  1. If the cache needs maintenance of any sort, I'll post a needs maintenance log. If someone gets offended by it, it just proves they are too lazy to clear the needs maintenance, and actually maintenance their cache.
  2. I have a few planned for the near future. One, because it will be a medium size cache in a high muggle area, will be PMO mainly to try to keep mor experienced users looking for it to keep it safe. Others, will be PMO for the first month, to give the paying members a chance at FTF, kind of as a gift for helping support the hobby. After that I will open them up to all.
  3. My worse coin napping. A coin I looked hard for, and finally found one after alot of searching. Made a special mission tag, and coin holder for it. Released it. Never even traveled before it came up missing.
  4. I submitted 2 queries last night around 10 PM EDT. One ran fine, and emailed me, one still checked, and done nothing. Tried the copy trick of the one that ran, but didn't work. They'll get it sorted out.
  5. abcdefg just testing something... nevermind me.
  6. I always wondered if something like this could happen. Hope it all gets resolved. I'll be watching this thread out of interest.
  7. I used to "discover" every coin and TB I came across. Lots in my profile. Wow. Then I began to keep track of the TBs, and only the ones I moved meant anything. Got more into the game, and realized these "Discoveries" were lame, and I didn't care about them. Thought, It's about fun, and not numbers to me. Went through and deleted every "Discovery" log, and only kept logs of those I actucally moved. Of course, that's just me, To each his ( Or Her ) own. TBs I own, when I get a Discovery log in my inbox, if occasional, I don't mind, at least lets me know the coin or TB is safe and sound. If I ended up getting 30 or 40 in one shot, that could be annoying.
  8. Hey, I'll post here. As I stated elsewhere... As a hider: Something to nudge someome in the right direction would be acceptable... For example, I'm looking for a number not divisable by 2. Hint: Hey, You're looking for an odd number... maybe... A complete spoiler: I'd be unhappy with that, and would possibly archive, and put a regular film can micro in it's place. As a finder: Honestly, I don't want to know. I 100% guarentee there are some that I will never solve/find. I'm OK with that, but if I do find/solve it, that smiley is something I'll remember for a while. Back to hibernation...
  9. When I started, it was cool finding things in the cache, but now, mostly it's all about the hunt. If I'm by myself, I almost always Take nothing, Leave nothing. ( Exception of GeoCoins and Travel Bugs ) If with the kids, I usually let them do some trading. My 5 year old will usually trade a McToy for another McToy.
  10. Just from judging from your finds, you appear to be in North East Ohio. The local GeoCaching club is: www.neogeocachers.com - north east ohio geocachers. A few postes there should get you started.
  11. Using a motorloa phone? Same happens on my e815, and my girls Razr. I went to the phone store to "look around" ( Verizon, by the way ) Seems most non-PDA Motorola phones get that error. I dunno, It's a few more steps, I usually use google search, and let it reformat www.geocaching.com for my phone. Not pretty but works if needed.
  12. Just FYI if anyone is following... I didn't get: JS/SNZ.a drive I got: JS/Exploit-BO.gen
  13. Lovely. My computer said the same this morning, and my companys firewall automatically blocked access to www.geocaching.com. At least I can still get to forums.groundspeek.com What's up? New code that is reporting a false positive, or a ntionwide epidemic that is being covered up? ( Ok, just kidding there )
  14. To me... They are no fun if I keep them. If they end up missing, I took that risk when I left it in a cache. I like to share the coins I get. ( Not so many so far, and still need to release two ). If someone steals it, I wish a never ending ice cream headache on them, and go on with life... hehe.
  15. I have a Mio c310x. With a few "tweaks" this makes a good dual use ( cache/driving ) unit. For the technically inclined, this may work on other Mio units. I edited a skin to show a dot in pedestrian mode instead of the triangle. Found a way to get to the Win CE shell, and loaded up SirfTech, and turned static navigation off, so the dot will move with me when I walk, instead of jumping every 50 feet. ( also turns off snap to road when in pedestrian mode ) Use POI explorer, can import POIs from pocket queries using active sync. I seperate them by Micro and Regular, picked a different icon for each. The POIs show the waypoint name, but you can click it, and see the real name, terrain and diffuculty. ( Still figuring how to get the hint to show up, if possible ) Stores alot of waypoints, so far I have over 2700 loaded, and seems to handle the large number nicely. ( Yes, I have alot of pocket queuries to cover anywhere I may spontaniously travel ) Everything I used is freely available, and can point someone in the right direction if they want to try... Let me know. ( I'm leaving town for the weekend, so may take me a couple days ) Downside to the unit: A little big to carry, and not water resistant. Built in POIs kind of stink, but I never use them.
  16. I think something goofy was up with the forums. For the life of me, it kept dropping me to a guest around that time. Password incorrect, even though I could log in fine to GC. A few password changes, and all returned to normal.
  17. I think it's funny... On occasion I look at someones bookmark list, and it says I'm on page 3 of 1. Usually clicking on page 1 fixes it.
  18. Small World... Just realized... MDEGARMO... You owned the first geocoin we ever found. Lucky Caches. hehe. Anyway... Back on topic...
  19. Same thing here, Firefox does nothing, IE shows in the bottom "Error on page" when I try to click on one.
  20. WAAS = Wide Area Augmentation System Just googled it to see. Lots of cool info out there.
  21. In a nutshell... It's a set of ground stations ( not satellites ) that send signals to the GPS to provide "corrections" to the data it receives. I understand this is useful in urban areas with large buildings that may block some of the orbiting satellites. Not exactly sure what WAAS stands for though...
  22. Waymarking is like reading to me. I just look at the pictures.
  23. Space Junk. I think they should equip them with a final rocket, and launch it toward the sun when they are done with them. Or at least launch them into far outer space, maybe the space aliens will discover them, and not have this technology, and create geocaching on the planet ancotoretiyeitcmyore.
  24. Just for that... If the cache gets published, I'm gathering all my West Virginia kin who are ALSO murderers to fill up the jars. You ain't going to get 2 cents for each one. Then, we're buying one of them Chia Souls, regrowing them, and coming back to keep the jars full.
  25. I've read all your responses, Thanks for taking the time. Now that I think about it, Being a bit off would not be the best thing to do, as maybe finding a better hiding place would. I was more or less looking to try to make something that would take a little time and hunting, and not just a quick find, as there are many of those around already. ( I have nothing against quick finds, for the record ) Just wanted to do something a little different. I think I'm going to put my next cache on hold, and try to find a better than usual hiding spot, and look at some of the caches that were referenced in this thread. Thanks!
