  1. Hello all, I'm trying to find a big laminated poster style map of GB so I can plan a trip around the island but I can't seem to find anything good? :S OS seem to only have their landranger and explorer maps and I don't want a whole pile of maps with my route on, In fact I don't even need the map to be that detailed. I just need a nice big map of GB that I can plan roughly where I want to travel first and then go into more detail afterwards. My question is really: What paper maps are out there, which ones are good, and which ones would you guys use for rough route planning like I am looking to do?
  2. Thanks, I'll try that out when I get a chance! Is this the *only* way to do it? I guess I could always just do the View > View in Google Earth option from MapSource and then save the track from Google Earth itself?
  3. I bought my 60CSx in the US and brought it back to the UK with me, bought the TOPO GB software and it works just fine!
  4. That's brilliant, thank-you so much, but it has led me to ask one more question... (sorry!) If when viewing my track in MapSource I go View > View in Google Earth it copies over my track and the points for that track, but if I just save the track using MapSource to a .gpx file and open that in Google Earth it only shows the track and not the points, am i saving it incorrectly?
  5. One last question (I think): In my MapSource I have one gdb file, and so far I have been using this to save everything to. I have two tracks on it; trackA and trackB. How do I just save trackA to one .gpx file and trackB to another, seperate .gpx file? If I save my file as a .gpx file and open it in Google Earth at the moment, it is showing both trackA and trackB.
  6. How do you share individual tracks with other people? For example if I went for a 5 mile walk today, how would I just send somebody else the track of that 5 mile walk? Prefereably so that they could open it in programs such as Google Earth if possible and not just MapSource.
  7. Hello, I've got a 60CSx and I'm a little confused about track logs, I have a few questions: 1) I went out for a walk and then looked at my log and saw loads of these "points" every so often along the walk, how often are these "points" recorded to the log? Are they recorded at a set time delay or when you get to certain locations? 2) How do people normally organise these logs, mine seem to be in a complete mess, should I be clearing the track log before each walk and saving it at the end to keep things in order? What I really want to acheive is storing each of my walks in MapSource under a different name so I can always look back to MapSource and see which walks I did on a certain day. 3) Why would I check the "Log Track To Data Card" button in the setup menu? What's would happen if I didn't? 4) How do I get the track logs off my GPS unit so I can share the walks I've done (one at a time, not all my walks) with other people so they can load it up and see where I've walked Thanks!
  8. Ok, so I carried on hunting around a bit and eventually saw on Garmins website the following: At £130 this was a costly mistake not seeing this before buying, I'm finding it very frustrating to use at the moment, doh!
  9. Hello all, I've recently bought TOPO GB v2 to use with my 60CSx and am having a problem veiwing it in the MapSource application. It loads up fine, and I've unlocked it through Garmin fine, but when i look at the map it doesn't really look all that different from the basemap. This is of course untill I click on the "Show GPS Map Detail" link in the "View" menu - but this is my problem, Once i show detail I only get a small area of detail with the surrounding areas still looking very basic just like the basemap. I've uploaded a screenshot to explain what I mean: http://www.php2.net/gaz/mapsource.jpg Has anybody else had this problem before or does anybody know how to make MapSource's map window show the full map in detail rather than just a small square?

  11. Hello all, I've just bought a Garmin 60CSx from the US (just been there on holiday) and have not yet had a chance to take it out (I'm waiting for the TOPO GB map to arrive from the postman). I have just downloaded a load of caches to the unit (20 mile radius from my house) and noticed that by doing this I have downloaded a lot of caches that I have already completed. I was wondering if there is any way to mark these caches as found without taking the GPS to them (as I know it does it automatically), I don't want to delete the caches from the unit because I might want to revisit them at some point. Thanks in advance if anybody knows!
  12. Hello all, Not sure if this is the right place to do this but I'm new to Geocaching and am looking to get my first GPS receiver, probably an eTrex or similar? I'm in the UK, so I'm not sure if the models differ between countries? Regardless, i need to let you know for shipping reasons anyway. Thanks!
