    Stolen Geocoin

I was speaking in general terms of the camera on the bench situation, where a person takes the camera off the bench even though a sign says don't. I was not accusing anyone on the forum doing so but rather speaking of societal behavior in general. Property can only be gained lawfully through mutually agreed upon transaction such as purchase, gifting, barter, trade and creation from raw material(s).

    Stolen Geocoin

Actually yes that is stealing. Property taken from the lawful owner is theft/stealing. If I lose my wallet underneath said park bench, I hope someone has the decency to phone me or return it to the park service lost and found. If I place my bicycle in the bike rack next to said park bench to go play Frisbee, it should be there when I return. Your example above about the camera is merely an example of foolishness upon the owner's part, trusting in the innate goodness of fellow park users to care for his property. Stealing is the act of taking property without the consent of the owner plain and simple. A geocache owner places a geocache expecting others to use their cache in accordance with the commonly accepted rules of geocaching and often times add more rules to their cache. It's called decency, integrity and common courtesy; which many seem to want to rationalize away responsibility and expectation there of.

    Stolen Geocoin

I can't imagine holding onto someones trackable much longer than a month. Life in the way for 9 months is quite a long time. After two months of not moving it, dropping the coin off should be treated like an errand to be ran much the same as going to the grocery store, post office, etc. Heck you can even go to a cache that you've already logged so there is no hunt involved. Pass it to another cacher that is more active than you are... do something. Unless you are dead or your house/auto burns down with coin in it, two months is more than enough time to move a coin.
  5. I'm considering going to the dollar store picking up some memo books / ziplock bags and doing some 'random acts cache maintenance' down Centralia/Chehalis way. I'm sure many of the cache owners have more important things to worry about than cache status.
  6. Well I'm looking for a carry case for my Garmin, I'd like to be able to clip it to my belt or pack Here are the options I've found: The Belt Clip & Button I've already broke two of these. Garmin Neoprene Carrycase It is unclear from the description if this uses the belt clip above or if the case has its own clip system. The Gilsson R60N Neoprene Carrycase This seems to have a metal hoop as well as a velcro strap for attaching to belt or bike as they state. Anyone else found something different or is using something different that they really like? Thanks, Difranco
  7. Do not forget that where I-5 was shutdown around Centralia/Chehalis area... This may require effort from not only cache owners but other cachers as well: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/gmnearest.a...;zm=10&mt=m ... thats a lot of a caches!!!
  8. I am considering switching to Ubuntu OS... The last problem I have is my Geocaching. Currently, I am paperless using GSAK and an Windows Mobile PC with Cachemate. Is anyone else out there Geocaching with linux? Tips or Suggestions?
  9. Anyone have coords for parking on this one? I'm looking to go tommorrow.
  10. Crickey!!.... Im going to have to drive hundreds of miles to attempt this cache. Half the combinations I need are 50 miles plus away.
  11. Here is how I play them trackables: 1. If its a TB, and the goal is attached I will move it only if I can help it with its goal otherwise I discover it and leave it for another cacher. 2. If its a geocoin I will usually pick it up unless it was not logged into the inventory of a cache. At which point I will only discover the coin / place it in the cache I found it in. If I pickup the coin then I will help it with its goal if can. So far I have been lucky so far as I have recently released my first 2 coins into the world... The goal of my first coin was to visit every continent, and another cacher picked it up and passed it to his cacher friend that goes to Japan frequently. So its off to a good start. The goal of my second coin was to visit every State in the union. I dropped it in Project APE cache where someone picked it up and is taking it cross country to NY. I have a third coin but this one is my personal coin that I will carry with me to dip in caches I visit for mileage fun. When I think of some new goals I will buy a few more coins to release, along with some TB tags to attach to some objects.
  12. DOH!... I thought that link was to print the travels of the coin - I never clicked it. Oh well, I think I liked what I did better because its small, to the point and fits easily inside the vinyl sleeve. I released one today in the world. I also like the grommet and tag thing that cgmoyer did, very elegant and doesnt mutilate the coin. the main reason I didn't want drill mine is that I generally believe that cachers are of a good sort of people in general. Well here is what I released today, and as they say: "What comes around, goes around."
  13. Thanks for that here is what I put [COIN NAME] [TYPE] Geocoin Tracking # ........... GOAL: ........ DO NOT KEEP ME. DO NOT PUT IN EVENT CACHES!! This is a non-trade item with a specific goal. Please move me to another cache and log my journey at Geocaching. com. Thank you for helping in my journey. Thanks Hula, your suggestions helped.
  14. Im sending out unmolested coins, I just wanted to put some text in the vinyl cover noting their goal. There seems to be fairly standard text that people use on all the TBs and coins I've seen, I was just looking for a link to that text.
  15. Does anyone have a link to the standard text that usually comes with "Please don't keep my geo-coin". I have searched and searched but cannot seem to find it. Im about to release my first two coins into the wild. Thanks in advance
  16. Yes please vote for mine as well.....
  17. Since there is a nomination thread I respectfully submit mine for your consideration and nomination
  18. Hey Cachers, my profile on Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/mrmsd
  19. OT: Everytime I scan the thread list I see "Private ownership of Peaches".
  20. I'm glad to hear it. I have not bought the hot dogs yet. I wonder where I can get a good deal on bulk hotdogs. I don't want to serve the 88 cents a pound type of hot dogs, I want to serve something nice. I plan on hiding several caches around town near the time of the event. I'm already scouting around for open space in Shelton. I found a new park in town last week. I hid three caches in the National Forest day before yesterday. Costco sells wieners....
  21. Im beginning to really look forward to this....
  22. Before this thread .... I'd never heard of Icenrye. So I searched for his videos and found Episode 23. I could only get about 5 minutes into it. ... considering the subject matter he does appear to put a lot of work into them but they weren't for me.
  23. Of the Lock 'N' Locks I've found around here on the cache hunts I haven't been real impressed. Most of those I find seems that the logbooks become damp for some reason. The containers seemed to be in fine condition and properly closed. So I was surprised that it didnt leak.
  24. I don't see how this even got by a reviewer, except that possibly in 2003 the LB hybrid wording was much looser than it is now (FEB 2007 Revision) As except for the final cache, there is no GPS use at all. Basically its a multi-cache without coords for the WPs. I'd think this would fail the "intragal" requirement if the cacher submitted this today. However, at second look this cache is listed as a Puzzle cache and NOT a LB Hybrid, so it does not fall under the letterbox type cache guidelines. Under the Mystery/Puzzle type cache pretty much anything is permissable. So basically its do letterboxes but don't use the Letterbox Hybrid Cache type.
