  1. I submitted an Event Cache for this today. Hopefully it will be approved soon. I didn't say ANYTHING about HAM radio, so it shold be OK.
  2. Oh, and my screen name is in honor of my hero, Teddy Roosevelt.

Hmmmm... from my background I thought you were a medic in the First Infantry Division. (The Big Red One). How wrong I was! Funny, my first thought was that he was a corpsman on the USS Nebraska.

  5. Ludlow Falls near Port Ludlow, WA. That's my dog at the left getting all wet and stinky for the ride home.
  6. I know I said August, but how about Sunday, July 27?
  7. I'm flying from Seattle to North Carolina in August. I will be using the ferry in NC while I'm there, so if you want me to take on or the other let me know.
  8. quote:Originally posted by Criminal:I have this great idea for a unique urban cache that would rock. The problem is I can't place it because I'm at work, and I can't tell anyone about it because the locals might see it. dadgum! Let me know when it's installed so I don't miss it.
  9. quote:Originally posted by Navdog: It is one thing to talk about the location of the Hell Hole on this forum or any other. But to use geocaching.com to advertise it with an actual cache when the Forest Service has a policy to not make the location public, is something else. I would hope you would see the difference. The main reason I bring this up is that National Forest lands are one of the few areas where we as cachers have open access to hiding caches with very few restrictions. Why make a bad name for ourselves by advertising the location with a cache. Well, I guess I only believe about 75% in what I said. Government agencies protecting people from themselves is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If Joe Bob can't stop himself from jumping down a giant crevice in the woods, seems to me he'll find a way to hurt himself out of the woods. Yes, it may be the USFS official (sounds more unofficial to me) policy to me, but I can't imagine how that area is more dangerous than a lot of the places I've been in National Forests and National Parks. Don't go down in that hole means the same thing as don't step off that cliff to me. Anyway, don't worry, I won't be putting a cache there, and it doesn't sound like any of you will either, so the point is moot.
  10. quote:Originally posted by Navdog:It was fun solving the mystery of the Hell Hole and it would be fun to have an informal geo-gathering to go check it out and maybe descend down into it, _but I really hope nobody runs down there and places a cache nearby to advertise the location to the world._ Just to play devil's advocate, can't anyone who can find information on a geocache just as easily look in this thread and find the coordinates now? I guess I would think a cache near there might be kind of cool as long as the dangers and warnings are outlined on the cache page. I doubt too many people would go anyway. I was the FTF on the Dog Mountain Trail cache about a month and a half ago and since then there has been 3 others who have found it. And there is a popular trail right to it.
  11. quote:Originally posted by bitbrain:Wow! Nice test, Brian. Like my teachers said before I took the SAT & ACT, 'If you have to guess, don't pick _A_. You shouldn't guess on the ACT. Unless you have it narrowed down to two. Why do I still remember that?
  12. Yeah... all C (or B if there is no C) and I would've gotten 19/20. That's how I got through college.
  13. A couple of people have mentioned that it might be nice to have a get together for West Sound cachers (of course, all cachers would be welcome, if they have the desire to drive or take the ferry over). Does anyone hve any interest in a picnic? I was thinking at Pendergast park in Bremerton since it's kind of central and there are at least five caches there. I was also thinking some Sunday afternoon in August would be a good time. (Other than the second weekend in August). Any thoughts / suggestions? 14. Message Deleted Never mind. Had a question, but re-read the NW Outdoors piece and that answered it.
  15. Get a dog. I've noticed low-lives are usually very wary of my lab. Funny, since they should be more wary of me. Not only are they good for protection, they are a lot of fun to cache with and lower your blood pressure.

  17. quote:Originally posted by sbell111:Now, back to the topic... Of course, Star Wars characters should not appear at Star Trek conventions. They are from completely different fictional universes. The combination of the two may destroy the universe as we know it. Hmm.. An interesting argument. Maybe I should stop writing that Kirk meets Darth Vader fan fiction for the sake of us all. (No, not really. I'm a nerd, but not THAT big of a nerd.)
  18. quote:Originally posted by sbell111:Which side of the argument were you on? I said they should let Star Wars people come because it had such a cross over many people would enjoy both. Besides, I wanted to meet Lando. I was later vindicated when most Star Trek conventions became "sci-fi" conventions. Anyway, kind of a silly argument, which was the point.
  19. This whole thread reminds me of an argument I had with some friends years ago about the appropriateness of Star Wars cast members appearing at Star Trek conventions.

  21. I loves my geocaching, but if driving around Seattle in a VW geocaching is the "adventure of your life" as it says in the clue, you need to get out more. That said, who cares? It has something to do with geocaching - they are all going geocaching. They aren't trying to sell you a VW, they are VW owners (ewww... If I owned a VW I'd try to hide it, not join a club). Insert pretentious quote or saying here.
  22. When I start thinking about how cool of a geocache my $70 bear proof food canister for backpacking would be. Insert pretentious quote or saying here.
  23. Hello. I am going to be visiting my grandfather near Wilmington, NC (Hampstead in specific) in August, and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for must-do caches in that area. We will also be going up to Kitty Hawk/Cape Hatteras area if you know of any good ones there. Insert pretentious quote or saying here.
