  1. Hmm... do I dare try a Saturday and Sunday hike? I better figure out if I can do one first.
  2. It all depends on the situation. At a city park, or in about any group of people in public, such as a Event Cache, I will have my dog on a leash. I don't want him bothering anyone any more than they want to be bothered. For instance this weekend at the national forest group hike I kept him on his leash until everyone assured me that dogs don't bother them. I'm sorry that some owners let their dogs ruin things for people like Lazyboy, because that just leads to restrictions on dogs. Like at this park we're talking about. (It all comes back full circle.)
  3. Sure. I have no probelm with people feeling free to stay the f* away from me and my dog. By the same ticket, I'll stay away from cranky Oregonians that I feel will ruin my time.
  4. I'm still thinking about Saturday, but I'm still not sure if I'm clear to go that day quite yet. I'll know tomorrow. I'm glad someone wants to come along.
  5. Ooohh... Marmot Pass. Wish I could go along on that. That is still probably my favorite hike I've done in Washington. Marmot is much tougher than Ellinor.
  6. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. At the event in Kitsap that I had last summer there were only 2 dogs - mine and Tanda's.
  7. Ditto that. Is it that park where your TB exchange cache is located? That is a nice park.
  8. I'm too tired to remember. When I got down I kind of got weirded out because I didn't remember passing some of the landmarks I passed on the way up. Actually there were two caches on that trail in the wilderness area and no one and no animal will ever be the wiser unless they are looking for them.
  9. You should have seen the area around Criminal's cache in the Colonel Bob Wilderness. Trees downed, grass burned, elk beheaded and their racks hung as a warning to others... He even carved a warning into the side of the mountain and then sprayed WD-40 and motor oil all over the trail to increase the terrain level. Or - I would've never known there was a cache there if I hadn't been looking for it. And even then it wasn't easy.
  10. No need to race. If you get there first, I'll be happy to get a find, if I get there first, I'll be happy to get a hide. I don't think there's any shortage of trails to put a hide in the Olympics.
  11. Cool! I was going to put a cache up there earlier this spring but had to turn back. I was going to try again, but now I don't have to. (Next candidate: Mt. Jupiter)
  12. I woke up X-TREMEly sore today. I'll really have to talk myself into a hike on Saturday.
  13. I'll keep him with me this time - on a leash if need be. I'm afraid he's learned some bad manners because I let him roughhouse with me. He hasn't figured out that not everyone weighs 200 pounds more than him.
  14. I need to correct a no find I had last November due to snow and am thinking about seeing if Criminal's Mt. Ellinor Cache survived the winter. I'm gauging interest to see if anyone wants to come along. However, rather than making it an all-day thing I want to get up and down before 1. This means leaving from the upper trailhead early. Thinking of FOT (foot-on-trail) time of 8AM. It's only 1.6 miles, but, with a 2444 foot elevation gain, is rather intense.
  15. You better have whatever's causing that cough checked out. It's making you delusional.
  16. I'm a bit sore, and Chewie may not wake up for days, but we made it there and back. I'm trying to put pictures up on the cache page but the site isn't cooperating. Nice meeting everyone: Criminal, Leatherman, CurmudgeonlyGal, ironman114, and Mike - who escorted Chewie on front guard. This was my first hike with other cachers and I look forward to doing it again soon. Maybe even on a day where the view will be more than a cloud bank...
  17. CurmudgeonlyGal hit 600 at A Salute to Col Bob today. Criminal, Leatherman, Ironman114, and I were there to officiate the festivities.
  18. I'm outta here. See whoever's coming at the trailhead tomorrow morning!
  19. Nah. Come over to Col. Bob! Nice to see Baxter got his own account. Maybe Chewie needs one.
  20. I think we should set up a screen out there in the parking lot and show movies. Don't worry, Criminal, if I do bring my laptop (doubtful) and watch a DVD on it, it'll be in the confines of my car and you'll never know. Just wondering about the trailhead, because occasionally there'll be a picnic table at trailheads. I'm just trying to figure out where to set up my stove for brefixt.
  21. I, for one, would be leaving Moun10Bike, TeamCCCooper, and the like in the freakin' dust.
  22. Oh, any of you people that have been to the trailhead before: Is there a picnic table of anything there? Or do I have to choose between bringing a table and cooking on the ground?
  23. I've decided to sleep at the trailhead. Try not to run over Chewie when everyone gets there in the morning. Not sure what time I'll be there. Depends on when I get out of here and how many caches I stop to look for on the way out. I'll have my cooler. Now... what DVDs to bring...
  24. I like the idea of a user vote for cache of the month. Wisconsin does that and it led me to a couple good caches when I was visiting there last month.
  25. I will pretend I didn't read that..... What good is camping in the woods alone without watching The Ring, Blair Witch, or some other piece of crap that would never be scary somewhere with indoor plumbing.
