  1. Uh. Yeah. Hence Nolenator flying a kite at the top.
  2. Yep. Much closer to this cache which has been on my to-do list forever. It turns out the body was that of a guy who committed suicide after murdering two "friends" in Belfair.
  3. Not explicitly, but since we want to serve the needs of WSGA members, I figured that we would add data as members need it. So, if someone ends up doing Wenatchee -> San Francisco -> Reno, we could add those routes and over time build up a catalog. Cool. And to think, I just paid my 2005 dues today.... Later in the year I may ask to extend I-90 to Sioux Falls.
  4. Seattle to Missoula oughta just about cover it, thanks. I'm just doing some testing with GSAK, my gpx files, and the arc it produced. It's fantastic! I know the W in WSGA stands for Washington, but are there any plans to expand the range of the tool?
  5. OK. This post by Moun10Bike is what I was thinking of. Glad to see it's rolling along. (And that I wasn't dreaming.)
  6. A while ago I thought I read that the good folks at WSGA were developing a tool to find caches along a route like an interstate using gpx files. However, I don't see anything on the WSGA site. Was I just having a wonderful dream? Just wondering, since I have a road trip coming up...
  7. Hmm.... How about a design with two people shaking their fists at each other to commemorate the recent and on-going governor's race. Actually, I really like the idea of doing a 25th anniversary of St. Helens thing, but I'll let those of you with artistic talent figure out the design, no matter what the subject ends up being.
  8. I second that. I don't find cachers to be very exclusionist in general...
  9. There is also a "12 Heartbeat Rule" in the wilderness areas, so if we get too big we'll have to split in two groups anyway. I've used an ice axe, but can use some brusing up if people head to Muir.
  10. The book I have said mules routinely summitted during mining days using the south route.
  11. It looks like that is for a more technical route. The more power to anyone who wants to do the glacier route. That's beyond my ability. I want to do the non-technical south route where the most you may need is an ice axe and crampons maybe, according to the info I've seen.

Here is the link. Looks good. I'll try to get over there soon.
  13. OK. Well, I guess we should just aim for August some time and after the campout date is decided go from there? Of course some people may want to go one weekend and some another. This is a good thread for people to organize groups for days they want to go. And wadel, the more the merrier as far as I'm concerened when ever I end up going.
  14. Let's throw out some dates. August 6-7? I think exams are done by then for me. August 13-14 doesn't work for me. August 20-21? Cgal says that's too late for her. Others?
  15. Thanks. Fortunately I've been running and lifting pretty well all through the fall and winter, so at least I don't think I've lost ground since St. Helens.
  16. That's the weekend of my 5th Wedding Anniversary, so I'm sure I won't be going that weekend.
  17. 2004 - Above the Clouds. 2005 - Mt. Adams View? Unfortunately, it's just a virt (or at least that's how I feel) but the climb is the attraction. I'm thinking mid or late August. Anyone interested? It's not too early to start thinking about it. Especially for me. St. Helens taught me that I better be in a little better shape and somewhat lighter if I'm going to try anything more ambitious. (It's going to be a huge challenge for me to get in shape with work, school, and baby, that's why I'm making my goal public. Not wanting to be humiliated is good motivation for me.) As far as I can tell the climbing permit is a little more lax than St. Helens, meaning I won't put myself in the position of deciding who goes and who doesn't again this year. My first thought is to climb to the "Lunch Counter" and camp in order to acclimate to the altitude and then leave at first lightish. If Adams pulls a St. Helens and starts erupting two weeks after I climb it, I swear I will not climb Rainier.
  18. I've signed so many NDAs in my carreer I can never remember what I'm not supposed to disclose anymore, so I never tell anyone anything. You want to know my name or how old I am? Too bad, I don't want to get sued.
  19. I'd be interested in participating, then.
  20. Does it need to be PocketPC or will Palm OS work?
  21. I like to maintain maps of the caches I have found using GSAK and MS Streets and Trips, for one.
  22. The man to thank for that is EraSeek. That cache is the reason I decided to reserve permits in the first place. You're welcome.
  23. Uhh... not that kind of a monkey suit. The kind I have to wear to formal occasions, the kind that make me feel like more of a monkey than if I were wearing an actual monkey costume. Thanks, travis, I'll PM you my cell #.
  24. I'd like to go to the night cache portion of the cache machine but have a function around dinner time, so I won't be able to make dinner. Is there an estimate on what time dinner usually ends? Or can I get someone to call me when dinner is finsihng up? Hopefully, I'll be able to get out of my monkey suit and down there quickly enough to meet the group at at least second night cache.
