  1. I just bot a Garmin Dakota 20 and it needs maps. how do I put on free maps and where do I get them? I really don't want to pay $100 for a map.I have the Oregon 400t and tried to put its map on the SD card that did not work .thanks for any help.
  2. Not nearly as old, approaching 4 years. Northern California. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...37-97d3e485081c I'm not sure I want to hike 22 to 25 miles round trip for a cache that may need some poking around to find. Still, surprised to see no attempts in this FTF competitive area.
  3. The first couple of cemetary caches we did were a bit uncomfortable, but we realized soon that the caches were placed with respect. Now we find ourselves spending a bit of time looking around and appreciating the surroundings. Not too long though; plenty of time for that later!
  4. If it is a local cache we'll look until it is not fun, or have to go to work, or wash my hair. We post a DNF if we gave it a real try, as we appreciate the DNFs posted that help us monitor our own caches. Vacations are another story. We use (gasp!) paper printouts without comments that may be a month or more old. Some caches are gone by then. I looked for one in Washington that was near our camp (.13 mile) and was frustrated by the clues and comments that told me I was standing right next to a 1 star cache. Got home to read that the owner had removed it for cleaning during that weekend. Just move on!
  5. Thank you all. It may not be about the numbers but it dosen' t hurt. Our Biggest day was only 21, on a road trip. We don't do mega urban caches. We don't live where we can do that. So we feel real good about our 500. And watch out Shasta Sam we only have 200 more to catch up with you.
  6. Don't forget to sign up for the event "GATHERING N.U.T.S." waypoint # GCHZRY , we need to hav a count for the TriTip BBQ. Its going to be fun.
  7. I would recommend Left Utensil or Top Of The World for an "overview" of our caching world. "The Man Can" made me laugh most.
  8. Thanks! I hope more people reply before May 24 when we have our event cache Gathering Nuts. Hope you can make it, it should be fun. Watch for it to be on the cache listings, just waiting for Hemlock to aprove it now. Patience is a virtue.
  9. May 23 2004 date for event 11 am it is a Sunday Caldwell Park
  10. We are having an event cache on May 23 2004 and want out of towners to be able to come and do some of ouf best caches. So list a few that you like best and tell why. We want to give then Reddings Best. I like " In Plane View" yes I hid it and it is devious for a micro that can only be in a 25 ft sq area. but i have had more coments and complements from friends after they find it. Plan on a 10 min or more to find it even though it is in plan view.
  11. I like to see different places and it takes you places you would not know about. It is good exersize fresh air and back to nature, at least where I live, in the citys nature may be missing. But it is also the thrill of the hunt. And you dont have to kill anything. Bagging a find is as easy as signing you name and logging on. It is as much fun to hide caches and watch them and see what people write as they finding them. Shairing great spots or just a good hard hide is fun. And as adults we need hide and seek games as much as kids. After all we are just big kids, right.
  12. I am working with cache_ us_ if_you _can on the event and it looks like May, we will have a date next week. Hope every one can make it. It is taking a lot of planing and should be fun.
