  1. A friend logged a large group of caches from a GeoArt and entered the wrong month. Is there anyway to change the found date for all of them as a group or filter without having to edit each log individually one-at-a-time?
  2. I have a number of created routes for use in Pocket Queries. I want to edit a route to move the start or end WP to get better results. When I pull up the route, I get the page titled "Create / Edit a Route" with a map showing the route, but there appears to be no way to actually "Edit" the route. Am I missing something.?
  3. I lived in the Seattle area, the home of Groundspeak, for 35 years, but didn't learn about Geocaching until 2014 after moving to Las Vegas. I've been addicted to the hobby ever since, and my caching stats reflect that. I enjoyed Benchmarks, have no interest in Waymarking and don't think much of Adventure Labs anymore. I think the focus on, and over saturation of meaningless, instant gratification, driveby ALs is a clear reflection on Groundspeak's business decision to focus on short-term growth. I say "short-term", because I firmly believe that today's youth market is fickle and will move on when they tire of these quick and easy low quality ALs. Groundspeak's competition in that market segment is Munzees and Poke-Mon. I suspect not that many of those users will become long term dues paying Premium Members. I deeply regret the lost 13 years of Geocaching that I missed. At age 81, I expect that I won't have that many years left to actively pursue this hobby, but I will as long as I can. I will continue to be a dues paying Premium Member as long as I can keep getting out, traveling and searching for caches - or until the hobby deteriorates to the point where it is no longer fun. What I don't regret, is that I probably won't be around to see the demise of Groundspeak and Geocaching that will certainly occur if this trend continues.
  4. First, I’m sorry I’m so late to this forum topic. But please let me add my voice. Earlier this year, I participated in a survey and spoke directly with Bl4ckH4wkGER about how GS could provide better support to the community. I’ve also spoken to Brian Roth, and he told me that one of their concerns is always how to best use their assets, staff time and resources. I get that, but that said, this decision is clearly a very disappointing “Profit Driven” business decision. I’ve also spoken to many Lackeys and Reviewers, and their comments echo Mr. Roth’s. All the admin and Lackey comments on this forum, as well as a lot of the recent changes make that clear. 1. From the announcement “However, benchmarks are only available in the United States”. This just ISN’T TRUE! A very easy quick check on the Web yields this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark_(surveying) Canada, Denmark, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, south Africa, Spain, United Kingdom. Benchmarking in those countries (subject to local legal restrictions, if any) could be supported and promoted by GS. 2. “The cost to accommodate benchmarking far exceeded the cost of retiring it and so after reviewing usage data and ongoing maintenance costs, the respective decision was made.” The fact that the usage is low should come as no surprise. Most cachers don’t know about it because GS never promotes it. (See #1 above) 3. “Unfortunately, with a finite amount of resources we have to be selective in which [improvements] we pursue. At this point benchmarking isn't one of them due to its locally restricted nature when the game as a whole becomes more and more global.” (See #1 & #2 above) 4. “contact the NGS directly. They'll also be able to provide you with a much more up-to-date file. The geocaching benchmarks database hasn't been updated for quite some time.” Uhhh? If the geocaching benchmarks database hasn't been updated for quite some time, and NGS can provide you with a much more up-to-date file, then why hasn’t GS done a one-time update? Cost? 5. Speaking of NGS: There have been several previous comments about how much Geocachers contirbute to the updating of the NGS datasheets status of benchmarks when they search for them. 6. “maintaining these old pages requires significant resources. These resources can then not be spend on other improvements, including new exciting features”. OKAY. What exciting “new features”? Adventure Labs? Promotions like “Signal’s Labyrinth”? 7. Adventure Labs: I get this. To expand the membership base and attract new customers, the focus has shifted dramatically to Smartphone Users. But “flooding the market” with ALs eventually becomes unproductive and reduces the quality of the game. Others have commented on the pointlessness of ALs that are multiple choice and can be done sitting in a car somewhere, or on an airplane at an airport (numerous airport examples). After GS awarded everyone who had done an AL two more, I’ve heard many cachers trying to figure out where to put out a quality AL in a saturated area. I’ve put out three, but have been sitting on one unused for over a year that I’m not going to waste just to be putting one out. (therefore, I didn’t get 2 more) 8. Promotions: I also get that Promotions are now being designed to attract new users. However I find that many of my fellow serious Geocachers are as turned off and disinterested, as I am, in promotions that are so simple and easy that they complete them in a week without even trying. I really wish the leadership at GS had given this more thought and at least given their dues paying Premium Membership a chance to comment on this as a proposed change rather than a done deal. Serious Geocachers, not “Casual Smartphone Users”, are what will keep GS in business for the long term, and “dumbing down” the game will not turn “Casual Smartphone Users” into Serious Geocachers.
  5. It's amazing how well thought out some of this is. That is VERY well done. Now if we could just get them to add the ability to filter and hide temporarily disabled caches on the panel along with the other options (or alternatively show them in RED), it would be perfect - until we think of something else. ?
  6. When you solve a puzzle and edit the coordinates on the cache page, the icon displayed on the map changes from a "?" to something else indicating that the coordinates have changed. My question is this. Does the position of the icon also change to reflect the changed coordinates that I have entered? On the map, it looks like it is moved and matches the coordinates I manually entered into Google Earth, but I want to make sure. I use the website map view on an iPad to navigate in my car around an area to get close to my next target. Thanks.
  7. That's what I thought, but last night I updated about 5500 caches and then this morning it only let me do another 500. So I guess it's not midnight Seattle time since I'm in the same time-zone here in Las Vegas.
  8. When does the daily download limit reset? i.e. - what time of day and what time zone?
  9. Same problem with trying to send a message from the cache page using "message this owner". Tried sending from the COs profile page and that worked, but very frustrating. I don't know if the problem is intermittent, but I tried from the cache page multiple times. Whatever happened to "if it isn't broke, don't fix it"?
  10. I requested this when I visited Groundspeak HQ in June. The lackey I talked to said it sounded like a good suggestion, but nothing happened. You already have 2 buttons to filter out "My Finds" and "My Hides". It seems like it would be simple to add 2 more buttons for "Temp Disabled" and "Archived" Another alternative that might be an even easier fix would be to have both "Temp Disabled" and "Archived" caches show up as "Red" boxes instead of Green on the map. Yes, I know you can zoom in and they show up as Grey boxes, but this would be much quicker and easier. I've only been caching for 15 months and have just over 3000 finds. I like to focus on an area and try to find all the caches in that area. I'm always checking for new caches in an area, and when I see a green box, I have to look to see if it's a new one, a previous DNF or a disabled cache. Filtering out disabled caches would be VERY helpful.
  11. Some COs as for a photo to be emailed to them to confirm finds (usually for Earth Caches or Virtuals.) The send a message protocol doesn't allow attaching a photo. I try to send the requested photo in a separate email directly to the CO, but sometimes the CO's email address isn't there. Is there some way to work around this? Thanks
  12. Thank you for both those suggestions. That will probably work. I don't need to sequence them on my GPSMap 60Cx, Just so I can either print or download a sorted list to my Smartphone.
  13. When doing a series of caches in a Geo-Art formation, I like to plan a route around the design that allows for the shortest and fastest route from one cache to the next. This may not be in the straight numerical sequence that the CO used to place the caches. I tried entering the caches into a Bookmark list in the order I wanted to walk them, but the list came out in numerical or alphabetical order, and I didn't see any way to override this. Is there any way to do this? I also use GSAK, but haven't found a way to do this there either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
