  1. We use small toy frogs. I don't really know how we got started on toy frogs, but there you have it.
  2. Have you ever been geocaching and met another geocacher while "on the hunt?" I have twice, and coincidentally it was on the first two days I was geocaching... OK, so I didn't realize this, but the first day I went geocaching was the day after GW5 ended, which was kinda in my area. I was finding my 3rd find, and I ran into these geocachers who live up in VA. We talked for a bit, and then went our separate ways. The second time was on my second day of geocaching, which was two days after GW5. We were finding some local caches, and lo and behold, we meet some other geocachers who were visiting from TN! We looked for the cache for a while, and finally decided it wasn't there. But, we then proceeded to find the other geocaches in the area. I went on the geocaching website that night to log my finds and DNF's, and found that the first geocache had been archived only that morning! Anyways, post your stories here of meeting other geocachers while finding geocaches.
  3. 3 times before it was in a good place. That is the most we've ever had. First time it was too near a school, second and third times too close to legs of a puzzle cache.
  4. That is pretty cool! i'd hate to be the one trying to find that cache!
  5. You guys are EVIL!!! I ought to try some of these ideas.
  6. These are some great ideas! Thanks for all your input! I had better get started working on these! -End13
  7. OH NO, NOT ANOTHER GUARDRAIL CACHE!!! Somehow there are always a few of those we never can get the hang of... ALSO... Oh No, not another cache in a lousy non-waterproof container where the container is flooded and the log and everything else in the container is soaked! (We found one of these once. We did some minor cache repair and then notified the cache owner. He never did write back, actually...)
  8. I was wondering if anyone had some neat cache ideas they might could share with me. There are a lot of experienced cachers in my area, and they find my caches pretty easily, so I was trying to think of something that would be a little harder to get at. So if anyone has any ideas, please post them here, or PM me. Thanks!!
  9. We repaired a geocache a couple of weeks ago. It had rained really hard, and since it was near a rain ditch alongside the road, it got very wet. We wiped off the log and dried it off a bit. We also put the log in a new ziplock bag. Then when we went back to log our finds we emailed the cache owner telling him we did some maintenance and he was OK with it.
  10. That's funny! I like it. Here's my geocaching slogans: Geocaching- It's addicting! With great geocaching comes great responsibility. "I never did get lost, but I was bewildered once for a few days."-Daniel Boone
  11. We just went on our first hike on the AT, sort of a test run for our new gear. I went with my dad and we hiked a few miles, but as it was going to be cold, we found a place where there was some wind cover and set up our tents. For some reason dad picked a "strenuous" hike for our first go on the AT, but it was still very fun and we are planning to go again next spring.
  12. Once we were geocaching and we had a elderly couple ask us what we were doing, We told them we were geocaching, and they just gave us that look that says "OK, i'm going to walk away VERY slowly. These folks are crazy." I love seeing people's reactions to a few gecaching terms!
